  • The most important aspect of getting an assembly together is to have some fun! We

chose a play so that everybody could be involved and try their acting abilities. Who knows, we could have a future

Oscar winner in our midst! Dan Valley has some wonderful poems that help us with our reading fluency and

imagination. Making props is always an interesting experience and we all got involved to some degree to help make

our set. Mums, Dad and Nans were brilliant in helping us get our costumes together and Mr Creed, the Gardener,

helped put together our fire engine.

We have had a busy year so far in Room 14. Apart from all getting taller, weve done woodwork (all fingers still present), lots of cooking, built a worm farm for the school garden, weeded and planted fruit trees and vegetables. It

has been a great learning experience and fun to get dirty at school!

In the classroom we have all been working hard on our learning. The Year 6s come and lead our reading groups 3 mornings a week and its great to work with the older kids. In Grammar we have been practicing syllables, vowels, verbs, nouns and adjectives through a class story that Mrs Walsh wrote that we are all a part of. We

have used this work to improve our writing where we have been getting very creative. In Maths we have been

focussing recently on getting better at our times tables as well as learning about money, place value, number

sequences and symmetry. We cut a photo of our faces in half and tried to draw the missing half which we really

did a fantastic job at. We work hard each day and if we finish early theres always our Wizard Challenges to complete.

box tips and a 5-day lunch box meal plan and youll find packing a healthy lunch to nourish your kids

Top tips for a healthy lunch box

Always include fresh fruit and vegetables. Vary the selection to keep it interesting.

Offer a variety of whole grain breads, rolls, pita bread and flat breads.

Use avocado as a spread instead of butter or margarine.

Use reduced fat dairy foods. Cheese and yoghurt are ideal.

Children need a serve of protein at lunchtime. Include lean meat, egg, chickpeas or tuna.

Add a chilled bottle of water and limit juice.

Ensure you include a range of fresh fruit and vegetables and

vary the food daily so kids dont become bored.
