What is KOP?

It’s an outreach for women who have been either directly or indirectly affected by incarceration. We hold two weekend retreats yearly for women. KOP #21 will be held

October 21-23rd in a North Phoenix location. This is a FREE weekend experience for our guests!

The word, Kairos, is a Greek word meaning in God’s Special Time or in the Fullness of Time indicating an opportunity for our participants and guests to reconsider their life choices. As hearts are changed, participants begin to take responsibility for their actions. It’s like a front row seat at a miracle—transforming lives and impacting the world.

While faith-based, Kairos is open to ALL beliefs and affiliations. Please consider joining us. Thanks!

Other upcoming weekends: KO Tucson: September 23-25 KONAZ (North): September 30 - October 2 Please see kairosofaz.org for more information!

Message from Community Lay Director, Dusty LaNoue

Last month I informed you, the community, that the AZ Emmaus

Board had decided to move us to 2 sets of walks per year while

we regroup as a community, work toward regaining our fire for

the movement, and increase the number of pilgrims on walks in

all areas of the state. At that time I could not tell you where or

when we would be holding walks each year. The Board met on

August 13th to determine how we were going to make this hap-

pen effectively for our Arizona Walks. The decision is as follows:

The Northern area will hold a set of Walks in late spring of 2017.

The Phoenix area will hold a set of Walks in October 2017.

The Southern area will hold a set of Walks in

February/March 2018.

The Phoenix area will hold a set of Walks in October 2018.

We will repeat this cycle until we can resume Walks every year

in all three areas.

Because Phoenix is central and about the same distance from

both North and South, they will continue to hold a set of Walks

every year, providing access to both ends of the state 2 times

per year. I believe we can indeed rekindle our Fire for this

remarkable movement, but it will take everyone of us working

together. We must first and foremost pray for the life of the

movement, and we all who have been blessed to have been a

part of this movement must be PROACTIVE. Someone else is not

going to do what God calls each of us individually to do. Talk to

the people who were at your table even if that was years and

years ago! Ask them to join you at a gathering. Talk to those you

have sponsored. Ask them to join you at a gathering. Talk to

your group brothers and sisters. Ask them to join you. Also ask

everyone if they are receiving the Rooster Tales. If not, help

them get connected. If computers are difficult for them, print a

copy and bring it to them. Make sure all you know in the com-

munity are current with their information (Phone, Address,

Email, etc). If not, help them connect with Holly Case, our

Communications Chairperson. Print out the Rooster Tales, and

put it on your desk or counter or any space that you are going to

see it daily, so those gatherings and candlelights don’t get away

from you. Many of us have been in this movement for a long

time, and have become complacent, older, and tired. Many of

us are REALLY busy. However, this is heavenly service; God will

supply all you need. Remember how your weekend impacted

your life for the better, and make a friend, be a friend, bring a

friend to 3 days with their Lord. Help another brother or sister

celebrate 3 days with our Lord, be a Sponsor. Ask for God’s

guidance as to who He wants you to sponsor. There is no one

else my friends, we are it! Christ is counting on US. This is His

movement, let’s each do our part to get the fire going again!

Your Sister in Christ, Dusty LaNoue

Message from Community Spiritual Director, John Fairchild

Valerie and I just spent 16 days with our daughter and family in Alaska, playing with the grandkids and fishing for salmon on the Kenai River. Back in Fairbanks where they live about 300’ from the Chena river they were experiencing some flooding and water intrusion into their basement—nothing like folks in Louisiana right now (keep them in prayer!). Unlike Arizona, it was raining before we arrived, it rained the whole time we were there, and it was raining when we left—my Arizona body didn’t know what to do with all that humidity!

It brought to mind the Hillsong lyrics to “Holy Spirit Rain Down,” Holy Spirit, rain down, rain down Oh, Comforter and Friend How we need Your touch again Holy Spirit, rain down, rain down

Let Your power fall Let Your voice be heard Come and change our hearts As we stand on Your word

Holy Spirit, rain down

No eye has seen, no ear has heard No mind can know what God has in store So open up Heaven, open it wide Over Your church and over our lives

One day, four-year old Ayzling was running around playing without a care or thought to the rain...it was normal for her and she understood how fun it is to enjoy the simple pleasure of the rain.

We know what happens without rain. Rain is essential to life as it renews the streams and rivers and replenishes the reservoirs and ground water. What happens to you without the Holy Spirit? Yup, we dry up spiritually and our life in Christ be-gins to wither like a vine branch cut off from the vine.

If you’re feeling a bit dry today, a bit cut off from God’s love, just go back up the column and pray those words from Hillsong. Invite the Spirit back and then let the One who loves you more than anything—rain down on you. My prayer for you this month is that you receive the renewing, refreshing, life-giving, joy of God’s gift of the Holy Spirit to refill you and renew your love and passion for him.

Peace & Grace, Pastor John
