On this special occasion, Prof. Dr. Somnuk Tangtermsirikul, Director of SIIT, presented the “Best Teaching Awards,” “SIIT Research Achievement Awards,” “SIIT Professor Awards,” “Excellent Research Publication in Academic Year 2013 Awards,” “SIIT Staff Innovation Awards,” and “SIIT Long Service Awards” to award recipients.

The “Best Teaching Awards” are given to SIIT faculty members who receive the highest score of teaching evaluation from the students in each academic year. This year’s award recipients were Asst. Prof. Dr. Siwarutt Boonyarattanakalin (a faculty member of the School of Bio-Chemical Engineering and Technology, BCET) and Asst. Prof. Dr. Itthisek Nilkhamhang (a faculty member of the School of Information, Computer, and Communication Technology, ICT).

The “SIIT Research Achievement Awards” are given to faculty members who has high research performance and highly recognized by research community. The award recipients are Prof. Dr. Sawasd Tantaratana (a former SIIT Director), Prof. Dr. Somnuk Tangtermsirikul, and Prof. Dr. Thanaruk Theeramunkong (Chairperson of Master of Engineering in Information and Communication Technology for Embedded Systems Curriculum).

The “SIIT Professor Award” recipients were Prof. Dr. Sawasd Tantaratana, Prof. Dr. Somnuk Tangtermsirikul, Prof. Dr. Thanaruk Theeramunkong, Prof. Dr. Stanislav S. Makhanov (School of ICT), Prof. Dr. Thananchai Leephakpreeda, Prof. Dr. Vladimir I. Kuprianov (both from the School of Manufacturing Systems and Mechanical Engineering, MSME), Prof. Dr. Pruettha Nanakorn (Assistant Director for Academic Affairs), and Prof. Dr. Amorn Pimanmas (School of Civil Engineering and Technology, CET).

The “Excellent Research Publication in Academic Year 2013 Awards” are given to faculty members who achieved high journal publication performance in academic year 2013. This year’s award recipients were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pakorn Opaprakasit (School of BCET), Prof. Dr. Stanislav S. Makhanov, Prof. Dr. Thanaruk Theeramunkong, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalie Charoenlarpnopparut, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekawit Nantajeewarawat, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Toshiaki Kondo (all from the School of ICT), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thawatchai Onjun (School of MSME),

and Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanwadee Chinda (School of Management Technology, MT).

The “SIIT Staff Innovation Awards” is given to staff members who improve their work efficiency and lead to an innovative outcome. Mr. Abdulloh Jornvisadt and Mr. Pathompong Wabanplub (Computer and Audiovisual Center) are award recipients of this year with their innovation entitled “Automatic Lecture Room Control System.”

The “SIIT Long Service Awards” were given to SIIT faculty and staff members to express the Institute’s appreciation for their long-service contribution.

Recipients with 20 service years: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Satha Aphornratana, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supachart Chungpaibulpatana (both from the School of MSME) Mr. Kanokchat Choungcham (Building and Ground Division, Bangkadi), Ms. Amporn Amphunsri, Ms. Orapin Kaewtham (both from Central Coordinating Division), Ms. Wasinee Meekul (Office of Director), Mr. Jaturawit Jumnainpol (Library and

Information Services Center), and Ms. Ranee Maichan (Finance and Budget Division).

Recipients with 10 service years: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thawatchai Onjun (School of MSME), Asst. Prof. Dr. Chawalit Jeenanunta (School of MT), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Toshiaki Kondo, Asst. Prof. Dr. Cholwich Nattee (both from the School of ICT), Ms. Aroonkamol Samanchuen (Office of Director), Mr. Kamol Sumhirun, Mr. Kowit Kimhachan (both from Computer and Audiovisual Center), Ms. Rung-aroon Kobkaew (Building and Ground Division, Bangkadi), and Mr. Siwaraj Rajchabhat (Library and Information Services Center).

In the afternoon, a sport activity was held at Gymnasium 6, Thammasat University, Rangsit Center. All SIIT faculty and staff members were grouped into 4 teams as the Green, Blue, Pink, and Orange teams to play futsal and recreation games. The purpose of this competition was to enhance teamwork and unity among SIIT staff.

On June 28, 1996, His Majesty the King graciously granted the name “Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology” to the Institute. This year, the Institute

celebrated the “SIIT Day” on June 26, 2015, at SIIT, Rangsit Campus.

In the morning, SIIT faculty and staff members jointly organized and participated in merit making by offering food to monks. Then, a special lecture on “How can Thailand Escape the Middle-Income Trap” was presented by Dr. Somkiat Tangkitvanich, Research Director (Information Economy), Science and Technology Development Program, Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI).

VISITING THE LEADING UNIVERSITY AND COLLEGE IN LAOS

On May 7-8, 2015, several SIIT delegates led by Prof. Dr. Somnuk

Tangtermsirikul (Director of SIIT) visited National University of Laos (NUOL) and Soutsaka College of Management and Technology (SCMT) which are the leading university and college in Vientiane, the capital of Laos.

At the meeting on May 7, 2015, Prof. Dr. Boualinh Soysouvanh (Dean of Faculty of Engineering, NUOL), together with faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, expressed their warm welcome and appreciation

on current teaching and research collaborations between NUOL and SIIT. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bunyarit Uyyanonvara, a representative from the School o f In fo rmat ion , Computer, and Communication Technology (ICT) of SIIT, presented information about SIIT regarding its profi le, curriculum, admission, internationality, scholarships, and research. Opportunities for training and exchange programs at both the student and faculty levels were discussed as well as scholarship support for graduate studies at SIIT. Collaborations for visiting lecturers and co-researchers from SIIT have been enhanced.

On May 8, 2015, Ms. Vanhkham Souligna (Director of SCMT), together with the SCMT executive team, arranged a meeting to welcome the SIIT delegates and to present information about SCMT. Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornpimol Chongphaisal, a representative from the School of Management Technology (MT) of SIIT, explained the graduate curricula and scholarship opportunities for graduate studies at SIIT. A memorandum of understanding between SCMT and SIIT will be drafted based on issues discussed in this successful meeting.

SIIT CO-ORGANIzED THE 2ND INTERNATIONAL JOINT SEMINAR ON “INSPECTION, MONITORING, AND RETROFITTING TECHNOLOGY FOR INFRASTRUCTURE IN JAPAN AND THAILAND”

YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR IN AEC BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION

Asst. Prof. Dr. Nattharika Rittippant (a faculty member of the School of

Management Technology, MT) was an invited judge for the Young Entrepreneur in AEC Business Plan Competition organized by the Ministry of Education. Five rounds of competition in the Northern, Northeastern, Central, and Southern regions of Thailand were held during January 26 - March 23, 2015. Prof. Dr. Yongyuth Yuthavong, Deputy Prime Minister, was a keynote speaker for the final round of the competition on March 23, 2015.

The 2nd International Joint Seminar on “Inspection, Monitoring, and Retrofitting Technology for Infrastructure in Japan and

Thailand” was co-organized by Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT) and Tokyo City University (TCU) on April 28, 2015, at SIIT, Rangsit Campus.

Prof. Dr. Somnuk Tangtermsirikul, Director of SIIT, gave an opening speech on ‘The Importance of Maintenance of Infrastructure in Thailand’ and introduced SIIT and the Construction and Maintenance Technology Research Center (CONTEC). Prof. Dr. Chitoshi Miki, President of TCU also gave a presentation on ‘Deterioration Problems of Public Infrastructure in Japan.’ Members of the Advanced Research Laboratories of TCU, led by Prof. Dr. Takuyo Konishi, presented research and development on technology related to maintenance of infrastructures such as damage and risk analysis of infrastructures, health monitoring technology for infrastructures, etc. Dr. Hiroshi Dobashi, President of Metropolitan Expressway Co., Ltd., and Mr. Naoto Mashiko also presented the current maintenance practice of the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway. Dr. Chakree Bamrungwong and Dr. Kawin Saiprasertkit, Department

of Rural Roads (DRR), presented bridge management software currently used for maintenance of bridges by DRR. Asst. Prof. Dr. Warangkana Saengsoy and Dr. Pakawat Sancharoen, research faculty members of CONTEC, SIIT, presented research and development related to the maintenance of infrastructures in Thailand conducted by CONTEC.

More than 110 participants from many major organizations related to the construction and maintenance of infrastructures in Thailand, such as Department of Highway, Department of Rural Roads, Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Expressway Authority of Thailand, Bangkok Expressway PCL., Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, BTS Group Holdings PCL., Bangkok Metro PCL., Siam Cement PCL., etc., attended the seminar. This seminar emphasized the importance of maintenance work for infrastructures in Thailand as we are experiencing the aging of many of our infrastructures. To strengthen the collaboration between SIIT and TCU, the next joint seminar will be organized in emerging fields such as hydrogen fuel or medical engineering in the near future.

SIIT DELEGATE TO ITPEC QFM MEETING

As delegates from Thailand, Asst. Prof. Dr. Boontawee Suntisrivaraporn (a faculty member from the School of

Information, Computer, and Communication Technology (ICT) and Mr. Surasak Srisawan joined the 19th Questions Formulation Meeting (QFM) 2015 during June 10-12, 2015, at Makati City, the Philippines. QFM is an important meeting in which questions are reviewed and selected for the upcoming Information Technology Professional Examination (ITPE). ITPE has been actively adopted in several Asian countries and has been supported by the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA) of Japan.

VISIT TO OSAKA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND OSAKA PREFECTURE UNIVERSITY, JAPAN

M rs. Peechalika Sertsirikul (Chief of International Affairs and Corporate

Relations Division) and Ms. Cholthicha Pradidkwan (Secretary, the School of Information, Computer, and Communication Technology), visited Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), Japan, during April 21-23, 2015. The purposes of this visit were to visit SIIT dual Ph.D. degree students who are conducting research at JAIST and to explore academic activities among staff members of both institutions for further collaborations.

On June 8-9, 2015, Ms. Nichcha Puakanokhiran (Secretary of the

School of Information, Computer, and Communication Technology) and Ms. Chonticha Patchotchai (International Affairs and Corporate Relations Staff) visited Osaka Institute of Technology,

Omiya Campus and Osaka Prefecture University, Nakamozu Campus, Japan. The purposes of the visit were to exchange information about the international cooperation, student exchange programs, campus overview, and facilities for students.

SIIT FACULTY MEMBERS INVITED AS PANEL ExPERT SPEAKERS

During March 25-26, 2015, the Economic Research Institute for Trade (ERIT) of Lao PDR invited Asst. Prof. Dr. Chawalit

Jeenanunta, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nattharika Rittippant, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornpimol Chongphaisal to serve as panel expert speakers in the 3rd International Trade Research Forum, Vientiane province, Lao PDR. The theme of the forum was “Linking SME to the Global Value Chain: Lessons for Laos.” This forum was supported under the Trade Development

Facility (TDF), a multi-donor trust fund with initial financing from Australia and the European Union, with the objective to support networking of research capacity building and sharing knowledge on development experiences and policy lessons. There were about 50 people from various government offices, whose main responsibilities were to provide support to ministries/departments responsible for investment, trade, economy or planning, and some business leaders from the private sector.

DONATION FOR VICTIMS OF THE NEPAL EARTHQUAKE

On April 25, 2015, an earthquake occurred in Lamjung District,

Nepal. It was the worst earthquake in 81 years in Nepal. It was followed with another earthquake on May 12, 2015 and several aftershocks. This calamity killed and caused ruin for Nepali people. To respond to this natural disaster, faculty and staff members together with SIIT students

(coordinated by the SIIT Student Committee) organized a fund raising project during May 2015. On June 9, 2015, a group of SIIT faculty and staff members together with students, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waree Kongprawechnon (Assistant Director for International Affairs and Corporate Relations) and Asst. Prof. Dr. Veeris Ammarapala (Assistant Director for Student Affairs

and Alumni Relations), represented the SIIT community to present a 39,999 Baht donation to the Thai Red Cross Society, Bangkok, Thailand. M.R. Priyangsri Wattanakun (Director of the Fund Raising Bureau) represented the Thai Red Cross Society to receive the donation, to convey the deepest sympathy from SIIT to the victims of the Nepal earthquake.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Pisanu Toochinda received an Outstanding Teacher in Science and Technology

Award for academic year 2014 from Thammasat University (TU) at the 81st Anniversary Ceremony of TU on June 27, 2015, at the Tha Prachan Center. He is currently a faculty member of the School of Bio-Chemical Engineering and Technology (BCET), Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT). He also received the SIIT Best Teaching Award in academic year 2004, 2008, and 2013, and the SIIT Distinguished Teacher Award in academic year 2013, from SIIT. He obtained his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Mahidol University, Thailand, and both M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Akron, USA.

The desired qualifications of a TU Outstanding Teacher include: high dedication to effective teaching, being a great teacher, being well appraised by students and colleagues, as well as helping society with a positive attitude.

FACULTY PROMOTION - PROFESSOR

INVENTION AWARDS FROM THE 43RD INTERNATIONAL ExHIBITION OF INVENTIONS OF GENEVA

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vladimir I. Kuprianov, a faculty member of the School of Manufacturing Systems and Mechanical Engineering (MSME), was

promoted to the academic rank of Professor in February 2015. He obtained his Honors Diploma of Engineer (equivalent to B.Eng. and M.Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering and D.Eng. in Steam Boilers and Steam Generators from Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI), Russia.

Prof. Dr. Kuprianov’s research areas include thermal power plants, boiler and furnace technology, combustion and emission control in boilers fired with fossil fuels, fluidized-bed combustion (FBC) of biomass residues and wastes, and assessment of environmental impacts by thermal power plants and FBC systems. He has received research funding from Thammasat University and the Thailand Research Fund (TRF). He has also received research funding from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for a collaborative project with another MSME faculty member.

Prof. Dr. Thanaruk Theeramunkong (Chairperson of Master of Engineering in Information and Communication Technology for Embedded Systems Curriculum) and his team won a Gold Medal with the Congratulations of the Jury in Class C: Computer Sciences-Software-Electronic-Electricity-Method of Communication category for their invention entitled “Semantics-based Automatic Multi-document Summarization.”

Two SIIT faculty members received invention awards from the 43rd International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, which was held at the Palexpo, Geneva, Switzerland, during April 15-19, 2015.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pakorn Opaprakasit (Head of the Department of Common and Graduate Studies) and his team received a Bronze Medal Prize in Class Q: Food Stuffs-Drinks-Cosmetics-Paramedical-Health-Hygiene category for their invention enti t led “Light and gas selective fruit bags and cosmetic scrub beads from biodegradable polylactide.”

“SANYA DHARMASAKTI DAY”

“PRIDI BANOMYONG DAY”

A ceremony to celebrate “Sanya Dharmasakti Day” for the academic year 2014 was held on

April 5, 2015, at Thammasat University (TU), Rangsit Center. Prof. Sanya Dharmasakti was one of the most influential figures in the politics of Thailand. He served as the 12th Prime Minister of Thailand from 1973 to 1975, and also acted as the president of the Supreme Court (1968-1973). Moreover, he was the dean of the Faculty of Law and the Rector of TU during the democracy movement in October, 1973.

To express our gratitude to Prof. Sanya Dharmasakti, SIIT representatives prepared a set of Phan Phum, which is a floral arrangement on a pedestal tray, and paid respect to his statue.

O n May 11, 2015, a ceremony to celebrate the “Pridi Banomyong

Day” was held at Thammasat University (TU), Tha Prachan Center. Prof. Dr. Pridi Banomyong was the founder of TU. He was the seventh Prime Minister and senior statesman of Thailand, and was named one of the world’s great personalities of the 20th century by UNESCO in 2000. Also, he wrote the first constitution for Thailand. On this occasion, SIIT faculty and staff members and students prepared a set of Phan Phum, which is a floral arrangement on a pedestal tray, and presented it to the statue of Prof. Dr. Pridi Banomyong. The representatives from SIIT, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Veeris Ammarapala (Assistant Director for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations), Mrs. Waraporn Thongthua Lee (Chief of Student Affairs and Alumni Relations Division), Ms. Suchaya Rattanangam (Chief of Student Activities, Welfare, and Alumni Relations Section), Ms. Maswika Chaiyapoo (Student Activities Staff), and Ms. Vichuda Rungroj (Scholarships and Student Discipline Staff (Bangkadi)), participated in this ceremony.

D uring March 27-29, 2015, the School of Bio-Chemical Engineering and Technology (BCET) hosted the 15th Chemical Bonding Sports Activity. In this particular year, Her

Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously granted the permission to name this sport activity as “Sirindhorn Games.” In addition, Her Royal Highness granted a trophy for the winner who achieves the highest scores for all sport competitions of this game.

This activity has been held annually to enhance relationships among chemical engineering students from different universities across Thailand. Hosting of the sports activity has also been alternated. This year, SIIT received financial support of 600,000 Baht from PTT Global Chemical, Public Company Limited.

2014 IE PRE-GRADUATION CAMP AND SENIOR PROJECT PRESENTATION

SPECIAL SEMINAR “WHY FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS LIKE ENGINEERS”

T he Industrial Engineering (IE) Program, School of Manufacturing Systems

and Mechanical Engineering at SIIT, organized a pre-graduation camp and senior project presentations at SIDA

Resort and Hotel, Nakhon Nayok province, during April 21-23, 2015. A group of 52 fourth-year students joined the camp and took part in their senior project presentations. The objectives of this camp were to

advise students on work ethics, higher education opportunity, self-adaptation, and to allow them to present the results of their senior projects, which have been carried out throughout their final year.

D r. Ian Whi t f ie ld , D i rec to r o f Undergraduate Studies, Business

School, Durham University, gave a special lecture to SIIT students on March 19, 2015, at Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Rangsit Campus, on the topic entitled “Why

financial institutions like engineers.” The purpose of this seminar was to educate students who are interested in pursuing their career in finance or want to learn more about finance. The seminar was also suitable for those who want to continue with a Master’s

degree in Finance since it prepares students on how to write application letters and resumes to achieve their goals. The students learned some key financial concepts and also learned about career paths in finance, which is a desirable option for engineering students.

A group of 52 fourth-year students of the Industrial Engineering Program,

School of Manufacturing Systems and Mechanical Engineering (MSME) at SIIT, visited the “AAPICO Hitech PCL.,” Hitech Industrial Estate, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province, on April 21,

2015. They were accompanied by Asst. Prof. Dr. Suchada Rianmora (Chairperson of Industrial Engineering Curriculum), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pisal Yenradee, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Navee Chiadamrong, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jirachai Buddhakulsomsiri, and Dr. Sun

Olapiriyakul. In this trip, students observed the processes of design, manufacturing, and installation of jigs, stamping dies, and OEM auto parts. This enhances their understanding of the manufacturing processes and technology that they studied in class.

CORAL PLANTING 2015

N owadays, coral reefs are being destroyed and it will take a long

time for them to recover. During March 21-22, 2015, the SIIT Volunteer Club members visited Samaesan, Sattahip,

in Chon Buri province and helped to recover the coastal environment by seeding corals. In addition, this activity provided a chance for students to learn about the coral life cycle and

its significance to marine organisms from Prof. Dr. Prasan Sangphaibool who is an expert in coral recovery.

E very semester, SIIT arranges a basic Thai language course (listening and speaking) for new SIIT

international students in order to help foreign students to learn basic Thai language. At the end of the course, a one-day study trip is organized.

In the second semester of the academic year 2014, the International Affairs and Corporate Relations Division arranged a study trip to Koh Kret, Nonthaburi province on April 26, 2015. Koh Kret is a small island in the Chao Praya River. It is not a natural island. It was formed in 1722. The island was settled by Mon people who came from Myanmar and have been living there for generations. The trip started with the cruise around the island to see the lifestyle of people who live by the river. Students visited a Thai sweet dessert house and Poramai Yikawat Temple, which was built 200 years ago. Then they walked to a pottery house to learn how to create pottery. Students had a chance to practice the market conversation that they studied in the classroom, and spend time on shopping and tasting Thai food at the weekend market. Overall, this trip not only gave them a chance to practice Thai language, but also showed them Thai culture and lifestyle on waterways (living, traveling, and trading).

2015 SIIT INTERNATIONAL NIGHT

T he International Affairs and Corporate Relations Division, the Student

Affairs and Alumni Relations Division, and the SIIT Student Committee jointly organized “The 2015 SIIT International Night” on April 22, 2015, at SIIT Main Building, Rangsit Campus. This activity was under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Veeris Ammarapala, Assistant Director for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations. The purpose of this event was to promote cultural exchange and relations among international and Thai

students. Faculty members, staff members, and over 150 students, both international and Thai, participated in this event. Various styles of international dishes, including national dishes, were prepared and served by international students. Also, there were spectacular cultural shows by students from Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Germany, etc., special performances from the SIIT Music and Chorus Club, and traditional Thai dances from the Recreational Creative Association of Thammasat University

(RCATU). The highlight of the night was the “Papaya Pok Pok (Thai Spicy Salad)” cooking contest where international students and their Thai buddies competed to create a wonderful Thai traditional meal. The awards were given to the following students: Mr. Rene Welker from Germany (1st prize), Ms. Phuong Thi Mai Nguyen from Vietnam (2nd

prize), and Mr. Leonardo Von Lerchenfeld from Germany (2nd prize).

BACK-TO-SCHOOL CHARITY CONCERT #7

O n April 23, 2015, the SIIT Music and Chorus Club organized a charity

concert called “Back to school #7: Back to Kindergarten” at SIIT, Rangsit Campus. This event was organized under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nirattaya Khamsemanan (Club Advisor) and Asst. Prof. Dr. Veeris Ammarapala (Assistant Director for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations). The purpose of the event was to raise funds for the Thailand Association of the Blind. More than 600 SIIT and TU students, as well as faculty and staff members, dressed up in their high school uniforms and participated in the event.

At the charity concert, the stage was filled with musical bands, starting with “Namthip,” a band from the Thailand Association of the Blind, followed by the SIIT Music and Chorus bands. Moreover, there were many food and drink stalls and several fun games which were arranged by SIIT students in order to raise funds and create a lively atmosphere for the event. Part of the profit was collected by the SIIT Music and Chorus Club to raise money for the blind. Finally, a total amount of 6,000 baht was given to the Thailand Association of the Blind.

PTT FIELD TRIP 2015

F orty outstanding bachelor’s students, from Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart

University, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, and SIIT, were selected to participate in the field trip 2015 with PTT, Public Company Limited for 2 days at PTT Sriracha Petroleum Terminal. SIIT students included fourth-year students from the School of Bio-Chemical Engineering and Technology (Mr. Yotsakorn Khamsorn, Ms. Jittakarn Rupramarn, Ms. Patcharaprapa J e e r a n g k u l , M s . P h a t c h a y a c h a t Senangkhanikorn, and Ms. Panitchanok Ajuntueg) and the School of Manufacturing Systems and Mechanical Engineering (Ms. Chanikarn Khongtaweesak, Ms.

Thanapohn Danaiswat, Mr. Sasin Sukket, Mr. Varakorn Autadej, and Mr. Kanatip Hansuddhisuntorn). They had an opportunity to visit and interact with leading executives of the office at PTT Sriracha Petroleum Terminal and Thai Lube Base on March 24, 2015. During the field trip, there were 2 activities which consisted of a special lecture to the students on the topic of “Tips for job applications” and activity for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on March 25, 2015. The students received useful tips for job applications and for selecting good employers, including knowledge related to working skills that can be applied to their future.

OUTBOUND ExCHANGE STUDENTS

FIRST AID TRAINING FOR SIIT STUDENTS

O n June 12, 2015, the SIIT Student Committee organized an activity named

“First Aid Training” at SIIT, Rangsit Campus. The activity was led by Mr. Sarun Thongaram and Ms. Yuwadee Kulthanapanich, SIIT Student Committee Representatives, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Veeris Ammarapala, Assistant Director for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations. In this training, a team of professional trainers from “Poh Teck Tung Foundation” demonstrated and provided training to interested students on relevant topics including CPR training, bandage training, and controlling hemorrhage. Participants were students from SIIT, Faculty

of Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, and Faculty of Architecture and Planning. They not only enjoyed the activity, but also learned how to help people in critical situations. The activity was successful according to the purpose of the event, which was to train students on basic skills and knowledge about first aid treatment. First Aid Training can be useful and essential for other student activities such as voluntary camps, welcoming new students, etc. Students will also be able to give first aid treatment to someone in need in their daily lives if there is an accident.

Mr. Palm Soansa-ard, an undergraduate student from the School of Management Technology (MT), is attending the Student Exchange Program at Deakin University, Australia during February-October 2015 under the bilateral agreement between Deakin University and Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT).
