Glue CrazyUncle Al says its time to do my thing again (manwhere did the month go? ), so here goes.

I asked our members if they had any concerns ortopics or anything that they wanted to beaddressed, to please e-mail me the info. Well itworked. Over the last month I have received alarge number of e-mails and I wish to assure you, these are being given serious (and for us)immediate attention. You will notice a change inthe next few months. It takes time to consider andaffect responses to requests so please bear with us.I must say that a lot of the info requested couldhave been obtained from our web page. When wasthe last time you checked it out? This webpage isthere for your benefit too, so why not use it?

Well from the looks of this week, winter is fastapproaching and if you are like me, I kind of gointo hibernation. For me this is the peak time to bebuilding models. What have you got lined up forbuilding? What are you working on? What wouldyou like to build? What are you waiting for? I'vegot my projects started and on the go and am reallylooking forward to getting under the hood again. What do I mean? Well at my age my eyesight isnot what it used to be, so I wear a magnifyingvisor, thus I go under the hood.

The toy show at the Hungarian Club was a mixedbag of results. We got a fair number of peopleasking about RSM and we got two very positiveprospects who want to join. So our exposure at thatvenue can be called a success. Instead of dwellingon what went wrong or didn't happen we should bestriving to improve what we do have, and to thisend I still need your input and assistance.

Who have you talked to about your hobby thismonth?

Well that's about it for this month. Build lots.

Regina Scale Modellers - November 2004

October 1, 2004 General Meeting

In attendance were Richard Abday, Cam Barker, Larry Draper, Neil Hill, Curfew James, Leith James, Ed Kereluk,James Lory, Al Magnus, Nathan Magnus, Chris Martin, Tim Maw, Drew Ostafie, Neil Ostafie, Dave Schmidt, LenSchmidt, Gene Stacyszyn, Kyle Stevens, Mike Stobbs, and Frank Turgeon.

The majority of the talk centred around theExpo weekend. Though most thought that itwent a bit smoother this year than last, someitems were brought up that the executive willtake a look at. Foremost amongst those was aproposal to move the Expo back to October orNovember, and to possibly have the contestportion of the Expo be held every other yearversus the current yearly format.

Lunch will be provided. Michael Evans is the contact for this event. The other will be at the RUSI club onNovember 11.

November 1, 2004 General Meeting AgendaThis is a new feature to the Antenna. The idea of having an agenda for upcoming general meetings was mentioned by somemembers and the executive thought that it would be worth a try. We hope to be able to publish this in the Antenna wheneverpossible. 1. Reminder that 2004-2005 dues should be paid by Dec. 31, 2004. After that date, the Antenna will be sent to only those on the RSM member list. 2. The February 2005 Antenna (to be published late January) will contain a member list. 3. Toy and Show report. 4. RSM Club binder. Attendees at the monthly general meetings should check and correct if necessary their contact info and also update the list with their modelling interests. 5. Answers to members' questions. 6. Patrick Elkington - 15 Wing Museum Display

EEExxxpppooo 222000000444 RRReeepppooorrrtttWhat a beautiful weekend for Expo, and the attendance by the public was great considering how nice it was outside!Turnout for the contest was also quite good, though we did not completely fill all the tables as we have done in thepast. I don't think that the cause was due to the number of contestants and entries being down significantly, more theresult of there being fewer large entries, such as dioramas.

The final tallies are as follows. We had 33 contestants, bringing a total of 141 entries. Of these we had four juniorcontestants bringing five entries, and one intermediate contestant with five entries also. The remainder were alladult, with the largest contestant entry count of fourteen. This year we had no team entries.

We had a good representation from outside of Regina, with contestants from Mossbank, Moose Jaw, Saskatoon,Lipton, Ft. Qu’Appelle , Prince Albert, Emerald Park and Pilot Butte.

Door prize winners were Christine Millians and Braydon Cobb, both from Moose Jaw, Cole Clughart fromSaskatoon and Kyler McKechney from Regina.

Regina Scale Modellers - November 2004

A request from Neil Hill

I’m trying to get two young grandsons going in plastic modelling. Since they aren’t too sure at this stageif they want to be into “cars” or “planes”, a general approach, rather than just getting started in aircraft would bepreferable. I’ve been searching through Henry’s, the Internet, my reference materials for books, magazines etc. forsomething on “How to Get Started In Plastic Modelling”, or that kind of “how to” intro to our hobby, but the onesI’ve found seem to focus on either cars or aircraft, but not both

If you are aware of any books, magazine, newsletter etc. articles or some such that you think would be a good basictool for these kids, please let me know. If it's a book, the title would be fine, if it's an article the magazine/newslettertitle, date, issue number etc. would be nice. If you have some ideas you’ve prepared yourself for a new comer to thehobby, that would be even better.

I’d like to include the item/info with an appropriate model Xmas gift, so if you have info to share with me, soonerrather than later, would be greatly appreciated. Contact: Neil Hill, tel/fax: 306-525-6342,email: [email protected]
