For more than 50 years citizens of Cimarron County have presented and attended the annual passion play near Kenton. This year will be no different. The programs will begin at 6 p.m. MDT, Saturday evening April 23, and again at 6 a.m. MDT, Sunday April 24. High wind damage... This rural, (East Old Highway 64 near the golf course), trailer home owned by Cody and Jess Wilson was totaled last Saturday with winds reaching 70 M.P.H. in gusts. Luckily, the Wilsons were not at home at the time of the incident. BY C.F. DAVID Nico Collins, 21, appeared on Thursday before Associate Dis- trict Judge Ron Kincannon. Collins was the driver of a Ford Ranger pickup that left the scene of one accident on the Court- house Square only to be involved in a much more serious accident on East Main, just across the city limit line. Collins was charged with two charges of DUI, two charges of TOC liquor, reckless driving, two charges of no seatbelt, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, driving wrong way on a one-way street, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, and held on a bond of $8,500. Since Collins was in- volved in two separate accidents in two separate geographic lo- cations, one within the city, one just outside, some charges were doubled. In the court appearance, Kincannon raised the bond from the original $7,500 to $8,500, and warned Collins who had asked for a court-appointed attorney that should he make bail, the state would assume that he could also afford an attorney and va- cate the request for an appointed attorney. Since Collins had no job, Kincannon had already waived the usual $40 fee for an appli- cation for the court-appointed lawyer. “Right now, you need a law- yer more than you need to be out of jail,” Kincannon stressed. Collins will next appear on Tuesday, April 26. OTHER COURT PROCEEDINGS In other recent court activity, Larry Reyes will next appear on May 3, on grand larceny charges. Arick Hathaway in winning the recent election took the seat of Leroy Randolph. The seat held by Delaine Schwindt remains Craig Sanders’ since no one filed for the position. Boys or girls ages 9-12 want- ing to play Pee Wee Baseball can get a registration form at the Boise City Elementary School office. Children in Keyes wanting to play on the Keyes team can get a signup form from Scott Arthaud. All registrations should be ac- companied with a $10 signup fee to pay for T-Shirts and caps. No child will be disqualified from playing because he/she cannot pay the $10 fee. All Boise city signups should be turned in at the Boise City Elementary office, Boise City Family Pharmacy, any Rotarian. Keyes signups should be turned in to Scott Arthaud no later than Friday, May 6, 2011. Tentative date for starting games will be on Tuesday, May 31. On Tuesday, March 1, 2011 the Yarbrough Junior High and High School band students went to OPSU to compete in OSSAA District Solo and En- semble contest. Students in this ensemble are: Ramee Aranda, Ashley Pike, Marisa Lopez, Megan Bledsoe, Sydni Wiggin, Emily Martinez and Veronica Butler. Students performed Purcell’s Rigadoon and received a rating of Excellent. Ramee Aranda took a clarinet solo, which was The Carnival of Venice which was arranged by Hovey-Leonard, and she re- ceived a rating of I, or Superior. Ramee will be going on to OSSAA State Instrumental Solo and Ensemble contest at ECU, in Ada on Wednesday, April 20. Wednesday, March 9, 2011, the Yarbrough High School Choir and Junior High Choir partici- pated in OSSAA District Vocal Solo and Ensemble Contest, which took place at OPSU in Goodwell, Oklahoma. There were a total of four ensembles and six solos. Ltd (DSME) (SEO: 042660) acquired the rights to an initial 160 MW portion of the Novus wind project from developer Novus Windpower LLC. The Novus project is the first utility- scale wind project located in the Oklahoma Panhandle and is slated to total 370 MW when fully developed. DeWind Co is actively moving forward to break ground by mid-2011 for the first phase of the project, cur- rently earmarked for commer- cial operation in early 2012. DeWind will install 40 of its 2 MW D9.2 wind turbines for the 80 MW Phase I, while future phases may utilize new DeWind models currently under develop- ment. Phase I D9.2 turbines will be furnished from DeWind as- sembly contractor TECO- Westinghouse located in Round Rock, Texas. Acquires 160 Mw Oklahoma Wind Project Wind Farm to Showcase New DeWind 2MW D9.2 Wind Turbine Renewable Energy Technology wind farm in the Oklahoma- Texas panhandle. When the 80 MW Novus Phase I site enterscommercial operation, DeWind expects to have a total of 120 MW of generation ca- pacity on line in the region. The D9.2 wind turbine is the latest refinement of the proven DeWind 2 MW wind turbine technology, dating back to 2002 when the first DeWind 2 MW wind turbines entered commer- cial operation. The grid-friendly design of the D9.2 uniquely pro- vides grid-support capability to all grid applications and is well- suited to the Oklahoma Pan- handle setting. Currently, DeWind 2 MW turbines are installed and operating in numerous locations in Europe, Asia, South America and the US.
