STC NEW YEAR’S EVE CELEBRATION

The way to closeout 2015 at the STC was to play a lot of tennis and

then go to a party at the Mountain View Clubhouse.

John Sochacki spearheaded the tennis event although Debbie

McGeehan and Melanie Murphy set up the matches. That was a big job

because of the large number of players. Members played mixed doubles

utilizing every court at the Tennis Center and at Mountain View for the

two-hour tennis social. Of course, players switched courts after an hour

or so in order to meet more players and enjoy more competition that is

fun. This is how new friends are made at the STC.

In the typical STC mode of having healthy fun, John, along with his

volunteers setup the tables and chairs and organized the drinks and

snacks for the players after the matches. Once again, the STC patio was

the venue for the delightful interchange between friends, new and old.

That evening tennis players abandoned their Fila shorts and shirts in

favor of tuxedos, suits, and casual wear. That’s how to dress as about 50

of us danced to music we like to call Oldies.

For dinner, MVCC came through with a delicious variety of pork and

sliced beef flavored with spicy horseradish. STC volunteers supplemented

the SaddleBrooke staff that planned and coordinated the party. At the

lead was Debbie McGeehan, with Cindy Ishikawa Madsen, Benith

MacPherson, Claudia Enea, TJ Duffy, Kent Naugle, and Bob Stocks.

The STC is dedicated to the health and enjoyment of all SaddleBrooke

residents. Tennis is our first step toward good health and our parties are

the key to enjoyment. Join us in these healthy good-times by calling our

friendly coordinators at the Tennis Center.

Because of the high

quality of our professionally

certified pros, tennis

lessons and clinics have

become an important part

of our program to improve

or introduce higher skill

levels to our membership

and to all SaddleBrooke

residents.

STC membership had

grown to over 420 by year’s end.

There’s no surprise there because our

club is the premier athletic and social

venue in the Robson complex. Now

is the time to take advantage of a real

opportunity to get in shape and

experience the most exciting sport

available to active adults of all ages and

levels of experience. Beginner?

Returning to the game? Seeking higher

achievement? Just call to club

coordinators (825-0255) and tell them

to sign you up for this valuable offer.

Remember, the STC is dedicated to

the health and enjoyment of

SaddleBrooke residents. So come share

in the fun.

*This offer is for new-members or

former-members prior to 2014.

NOTE: February Scramble OP days

will be Thursday the 18th for the men

and Friday the 19th for the women.

S T C N O M IN A T IN G C O M M IT T E E

The STC has become one of the

most enjoyable and exciting clubs in

the entire SaddleBrooke community.

The evidence is seen at our events,

parties, and in the amiable friendships

that are developing among our

members. There is a reason for this

valuable development.

The 2015 and 2016 members of

the Board of Directors have engaged in

innovations that have resulted in

nothing less than a new club

atmosphere. Consider the innovations

they have introduced. We are being

brought together by the new Scramble

OP, Ladies OPUS, presenting the UA

Wildcats teams to SaddleBrooke, a

new photo-filled STC Facebook page

okeTennisClub/), updating the USTA

vs. club rating system, working with

the HOA2 Board to bring the

sunscreens to our extended patio, and

initiating club pro clinics for all levels of

play. Well, that’s just to mention a few.

Now it is time to insure the

continuation of these achievements

and to preserve the healthy

atmosphere at STC. The STC

Nominating Committee whose duty it

will be to prepare a slate of nominees

for the 2017 Board of Directors will

accomplish that in no small measure.

The responsibility for that

assurance rests on the Nominating

Committee. That’s where you can

contribute to the club’s future. You

may do that by volunteering to serve

on the Nominating Committee.

A Membership Meeting is scheduled

for April 13, 2016 at a location to be

announced. During that meeting, three

new members of the committee will be

selected from those who volunteer to

serve. Please volunteer at that

meeting.

To get a better idea about the

committee’s duty and the volunteer

process, feel free to call either of the

hold-over members from last year’s

committee, Jay Clayton Wilson (906-

9943 [email protected]) or Susi Fantin

(818-7896 [email protected]). They

will provide clear information and urge

you to volunteer.
