A Word from Your Editor…
And just like that June came and went with
our first month of summer vacation! We had
various events this month and I am proud of all of
you guys that participated. As Key Clubbers we
can show others that we can fun while doing
service. Keep up the great work. ***And SHOUT-
OUT to our VP Stacy Shin who just got her wisdom
teeth out and has not been able to attend events
–Laura (:
“Key Club brings people new opportunities, for me it was the YEP
program at my local church that now allowed me to make a
difference in my community. I am having a wonderful time and I
am thankful for having a separate family in key club.” -Azniv
“I’ve had a great experience in Key Club! I’ve learned how to be more
helpful and have done great deeds to my community. Through Key Club I
was introduced to a program named World Vision. In this program we
found an issue in our community and learned ways we could solve it and
even did a little of the solving ourselves. I am very proud of what we are
doing and feel great to be recognized as a Key Clubber!” -Ashley
!
“I live relatively close to the Braille Institute but I have never really gone
inside the building. We were given the task to help put the library in order.
Instead of books, we stacked several cassettes in order which felt unusual.
Overall it was a great experience and I enjoy being able to help my
community in any way I can. I encourage the rest of our fellow Key Club
members to also take part in this event.” -Ana
“I did the trash clean-up and I have to say that it was tiring. It was a
hot day and picking up trash was not fun, but I was happy with the
idea that I made the streets cleaner for people to walk on.”-
Cynthia
“For the month of June we were fortunate to have this many
events. Now we have Braille added to our weekly projects for this
summer. At Braille we helped organize the books in order and
them on the shelves. We had a few interclub events with Benjamin
Franklin like Highland Park Community Clean-up, Braille, and the
car wash at the church.” -Krzel
Volunteering at a local church that Key Club volunteers at really
brought me closer to our community. I had a great time meeting a few
people from the church’s youth program. It’s events like these that
remind me of how our actions create a domino effect for others.
Despite the heat, it was great holding signs up to raise funds for the
church. Hope to see more of Hollywood wolves soon! -Kristine
On June 27th and 28th the Key Clubbers that participate in the World Vision
Program at the church had their summit. In fact it will be the last summit because
of budget cuts, so it was cut from the So Cal area. For those of us that went, it was
a fun experience. It was a bit disappointing because we were expecting it to be
a larger even with more people, but nonetheless it was still fun. They had very
helpful workshops, great food, and raffles with cool prizes. A few of the members
also spent the night at the church where this all took place. We still have 4
meetings left, but this was a great way to sum up the program!
I am so happy that I have been selected to be
this months’ Member of Month, but I am also a
bit disappointed. I want to encourage our other
officers to show up to events and set an
example for the other member. Together we can
lead them and make this year even better.
Member of the Month
Azniv is once again the member of the
month for this month! She has shown
extreme dedication and commitment to
Key Club by participating in almost every
event this month. She holds the most hours
for this month! Azniv is just an amazing and
fun girl that never says no and is always
ready for a challenge.
