There’s something cool every year. I don’t have one set memory, it’s a whole group of them.Q: What are you planning to do after VHS?A: Spend time with my family, and go to school events during the school day for my son and watch Lindsey play basketball.

Brian Rick thought the students did amazing for a first time competition and was pleased with the results.

He said, “For the first time ever competing from VHS, and the fact that they were all first time students in the program, I believe they did well. They competed against over 950 students from 100 different schools across Illinois.”

On April 14, Vienna High School competed in the State drafting competition in Bloomington, IL.

The students competed in two areas; team and individual. The competing students were Christian Davis, Octavia Skamser, Dawson Kerley, and Rebecca Kindhart.

Vienna High School Bass Fishing team competed in two bass fishing tournaments.

In the second tournament, they were given the a chance to move one step closer to State. On May 3, the team competed in a Sectional tournament at Egyptian Lake. They placed according to boats, which Coach Brian Sampson pictured with freshmen Bailey Dahmer and Gavin Lambert at

to the State meet.” Sophomore and track member,

Kyleigh Smith commented, “My highlight from this season is getting 1st in our 4 x 200 at Sectionals, especially since we are the first girls going to State since Darla Waters won 1st place at state in 2000. Also, getting 5th place overall with only having eight girls on our track team, I think is really impressive.”

The VHS Track Team has had a very successful season so far. For the first time in school history, the boys won the Conference Track meet at Hamilton County.

On March 10, the boys track team competed at Hamilton County for the Conference Tournament. VHS took the 1st place win, by having the most individual winners at the meet, thus giving VHS the highest team score.

In addition to the Conference win, on April 17, they had a track meet at Harrisburg High School

where many of the athletes made the Southern Illinois Track Honor Roll, which includes the best race times in Southern Illinois.

The girls Track Sectionals was on May 9 and the boys Sectionals meet is on May 18.

At the girls Track Sectional meet, Haleigh Keeling, Kyleigh Smith, Emma Rush, and Jalyn Moore got 1st place in the 4 x 200 and are advancing to State.

At the meet, the girls won 17 medals and the girls who competed in the 4 x 200 are going on to

compete at the State track meet.Freshman Khyli Hitchens

commented on the 2018 season, saying, “I am really proud of how far we’ve come. The boys have done really well this year, and the girls have too, especially considering that we only have a few girls on the team.”

Coach Mr. Drew Lawrence is very happy about this track season. He said, “In my five years of coaching the track team, this is the most depth we have ever had. We have a few athletes that are going

My favorite place in VHS is obviously the weight room because “get big or go home.”

Jordi

Haley

My favorite place in VHS is the library because the fish is my best friend.

I don’t have a favorite place in VHS because I’m too cool for school.

My favorite place in VHS is the vending machine because that’s where all my allowance goes.

My favorite place in VHS is the shop because I’m always grinding my gears.

My favorite place in VHS is the wood shop because of my obvious future in construction. ;)

My favorite place in VHS is the art room because I’m basically Bob Ross.

My favorite place in VHS is Mr. Stafford’s office because I basically run this place.

“Supporting tomorrows future”

Signs you’re NOT ready to graduate...By Skylar Johnson

Signs you’re ready to Graduate

When you’re really tired of hearing Mr. Wilhelm’s corny jokes

The Senoritis is at it’s peak

If looking at Mr. Rude’s

Government tests make you want

to drop out right then and there

You start to value time with your

family

You don’t need a senior skip day because you have taken that upon yourself to make that a weekly

thing

By Lacey Kimmel

If you hear “abran los libros” one more time you might just

scream

You die a little on the inside every time you hear

Mr. Giffin on the intercom

ALL of your friends are freshmen.

You still have NOT read your

AR book

You sprint out to your car at lunch

EVERYDAY

You’ve had a library book checked out

since your freshman year

You get upset if you don’t get a parking spot in the upper

You’re already planning when you

will be visiting your favorite teachers
