Seeking Volunteers Sunday Morning

Hosts & HostessesThe Nominating Committee is currently seeking teachers and leaders but also hostesses and greeters for the 2016-2017 church year. Hostesses and Hosts will greet visitors and guide them to the various SS classes. Greeters stand at the various doors, open them and welcome all who enter. We may need double the number we have now due to the split in our building facilities. If you have a warm smile and can welcome a visitor or stand at a door or help guide visitors to another building for SS – then we need you.

Contact John Buffaloe if you are interested. He can be reached at [email protected] or 919-612-1876.

Sunday Morning & Wednesday Preschool Security Volunteers

Contact Karen or Katie if you have the time or interest in helping maintain security control at the entrances to our preschool and children’s area.

Welcome HouseBaptist Temporary Home for Refugee

Families Moving to North Hills

Several months ago, I introduced you to Welcome House, a new outreach ministry to refugees being settled in the Raleigh area. To date, 88 refuge guests have lived at the Welcome House. The apartment was near Cameron Village. Now they are moving to 7011 Sandy Forks Road into the Cedar Point Apartments. Marc and Kim Wyatt, missionaries hosting the house are calling out to all churches for help in moving. “We are excited about this new location. It provides a wonderful community social network for our guests, has after school ESL programs, an easy bus line, and will provide multi-use space for our ministry”.

Week of August 8Set up of the new apartment. If you join us we would love to show you the apartment and introduce you to the neighborhood.

Marc and Kim are so excited about a warm Baptist Welcome being extended to refugees that step off a plane at RDU and have little or no contacts in the area. “We look forward with anticipation at what God has in store for us as Welcome House continues to serve those being sent our way.”

If you can help with the clean-up or the set-up, please contact Mark and Kim at 910-632-4774 or [email protected].

MARRIAGE Enrichment Groups

(First Year and Ongoing)

Begin Friday, September 9 Sign-up on Narthex Board Now!

A Marriage Enrichment Group (MEG) is an ongoing small group that provides a safe place for married or engaged couples to explore their relationship among supportive peers. Each MEG is as unique as the couples in them! All couples are there to strengthen and grow their relationship, and have fun doing it.

We will build skills toward enriching four things that will encourage a healthy marriage relationship:

• A Commitment to Growth• An Effective Communication System• The Creative Use of Conflict• Frequent Expressions of Affection

and Affirmation

MEGs meet once a month. The “First Year” group will meet the 2nd Friday of each month during the school year in the Underground. “Ongoing” groups (alumni) meet in a home with up to 10 couples including a Leader Couple. Each month we will address a different topic. Though there is social time, the majority of the time is spent with couples dialoguing about the weekly topic as it concerns their relationship.

Music CalendarWe appreciate the great work of our TBC accompanists so very much. Special thanks to Barbara Bowen for filling in for Ramona while away. Our accompanists are the best! They are incredibly gifted and have true hearts for worship through music.

Our deepest gratitude to Davis Bowen for his many years of serving our choir ministry through the PrimeTimers Choir. This past month, Davis resigned his ministry position as director, and we celebrate with him his great success and leadership in ministry to the senior adults through music. Davis is a steady, committed and faithful servant in many areas of ministry at Trinity, and we will miss him in the new year when the PrimeTimers resume. We have been blessed to have lay leadership in place for this choir, as well as many other choirs and ensembles. Under his leadership, the PrimeTimers Choir has grown numerically as well as musically. Please join me in thanking him for his awesome service and dedication to the Lord. Plans are in the making for the new year when the choir will start on September 13.

The Sanctuary Choir will not rehearse on August 3, but will resume on August 10. We will take our rehearsal times one week at a time with the failing air conditioning system in the sanctuary. Choir members can stay posted by reviewing the CHOIR WIRE emails to stay up-to-date about our future rehearsals and locations. Thank you for being flexible and patient!

If you have been thinking about joining either of our worship choirs in the new church year, don’t let the changes of our building hold you back! I encourage you to come and join either of these groups as we lead worship. In the ROC, we will experience worship differently than usual, but the music of our worship is so very important to our fellowship and unity. We need to continue making great music no matter our circumstances. Let this be the opportune time for your commitment and join the worship music family at TBC.

Video Team Voluteers Need

We have a continuing need to develop our Video Team for Sunday morning worship services. The 10:55 am service is streamed live on the Internet for guest worshippers to see while away from our church on Sunday morning. We need some recruits who have an interest in technology and service, and if not, there is training available to help you learn the system. We have new equipment for the sanctuary and it is an exciting avenue of ministry for both ministry and outreach. Mark Blashaw is the team leader and would love to speak with you about your interest and involvement. Join me in praying for God’s people to come forward and get involved in a much needed ministry area of our church.

Attention all TBC Members!

Volunteers Needed to Provide Genesis Weekend Food

Friday, August 12 - Saturday, August 13

We are looking for 13 people interested in providing food for host homes for this year’s youth Genesis Weekend. Below is a list of what is needed, enough to feed between 5-12 youth depending on the group. We will have a better idea of exact numbers in early August. Please email Emily Nelson at [email protected] if you would like to volunteer. I will connect you with the host home leader so you can coordinate with them. If there are enough volunteers, we can have 2 people work together to provide food for each home. Even if you can only donate part of these items, we will gladly take them!

All rising 6th Graders and their parents are invited to a special “Welcome to Trinity Student Ministry” orientation! You will meet new small group, Sunday School, missions, choir leaders and become acquainted with all that our ministry together has in store for you in this new phase of your life! Please RSVP to Christian at [email protected]!

HS Sunday Parking: As we prepare for our exciting new building project, we are hoping to ease our parking woes in a couple of ways. What we are asking for our high school students who happen to drive separately from their

parents is this: 1) Ride with your parents in ONE CAR. 2) Park on the back property behind the ROC on Manchester.

This is just one simple way that we can be a part of helping our church as we seek to make room for others!

Advancement DaySunday, August 28

Do you have a rising Kindergarten child? Are they ready for Worship?

On Advancement Day, the rising Kindergarten children will no longer have extended care. Parents, let me encourage you to begin bringing them into the worship services. Introduce them to the ushers, worship leaders, and fellow pew friends. Encourage them to use the hymnal, give an offering and pray when we pray. Of course they will wiggle and squirm, but they are learning and worshipping. Let them know how important worship is to you. You are teaching and modeling respect and reverence for God.

Volunteers NeededPlease consider serving within one of these areas and help nurture our youngest in discipleship.

Sundays: Sunday school teachers for younger preschool classes are still needed.

Sunday Night Leadership is needed for babies through age 5

ETC leadership is also needed. This is for infants to 2 year olds.
