grounds stages at the Blues Festival?  They would  like  to  book  him  and  his  band.  Would he!!!      The next  few weeks  found Kyle  pretty  excited,  as  he  found  support from  both  the  musicians  and  the community. 

The  final  results?     On  the Garden  stage, on  a  wonderful  70  degree  Saturday afternoon  among  the  oaks  in  the  grassy knoll at the Monterey County fairgrounds, the  Kyle  Rowland  Band  debuted,  and  his loyal  fans  were  in  the  crowd.    Gary Mendoza  provided  amazing  support  for this endeavor.   

Kyle’s band?   Gary on vocals, Kenny  Marchese  on  guitar, Brad  Cross  on    drums,  Jim Monroe  on    keys,  and  Leo Bootz on bass. 

Thank  you  “Uncle”  Gary,  for taking  Kyle  under  your  wing for his Monterey debut.

At a Heritage concert about six years ago, my  granddaughter  Erin  introduced me  to one of her 10 year old buddies.   He was a cute  little guy with a sunburned nose and a  harmonica, which  he  sometimes  pulled out  to  play  along with  the music  coming from  the  stage.   Kyle Rowland has grown up  a  lot  from  that day.   He  is  about  two feet taller, and has been playing  from  the stage for over five years now. 

This year it looked like he was going to get a  chance  to  perform  with  Kenny  Neal  at the  Arena  Stage  at  Monterey  Bay  Blues Festival.   But Kenny found he was doubleどbooked,  and  called Kyle. He had to cancel Monterey,  as  he would  be  in  Europe.  BUT a few hours after Kenny’s  call,  Kyle  got a  phone  call  from Monterey.   Would he be  interested  in playing on one of  the

Dear Sacramento Blues Society, Hi, my name is Kara and I’m a sophomore at West Campus High School. This past May, I took part in our school’s “Blues in the Schools” program as a singer and performed with them at Swabbies bar in Sacramento. This gig was, by far, one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. This experience meant a lot to me because I play competitive sports and hardly ever get a chance to do anything else. Singing is a hidden passion of mine, and to be given the chance to perform with the Blues in the Schools program was the coolest thing ever. I haven’t ever sung by myself in front of people before, and

this program definitely helped me become more confident in my abilities, and helped me to get over my fear of speaking in front of people. :) I’ve become more interested in blues after this gig as well. Blues, I’ve decided, is probably the greatest genres of all time, and has become one of my favorites to listen and sing along to as well. I am anxiously looking forward to doing this again next year. I hope next year is just as amazing of an experience as this year was! Sincerely, Kara W. 

Greetings to Sacramento Blues Society (SBS) members and blues enthusiasts,   Ah,  summertime  in  Northern California!    After  attending  the Coloma  Blues  Live,  the Monterey Bay  Blues  Festival  (to  see  our young  Kyle  Rowland  &  his  band) 

and  the  Gold  Country  Blues  Festival  things  are  just getting started!  I’m  sure  you  are  all  aware  of  the  upcoming  2010 Northern  California Blues  Festival coming  in Auburn on August 7th with some great headliners: Elvin Bishop, Zac Harmon, Dennis Jones, Kaye Bohler, Volker Stifler & the Sacramento  Blues  Revue.    Mr.  Jason  Haxton  and  his production group have really put together a great lineどup for  us  to  enjoy.    Thanks  to  everyone  that  has  taken advantage of the discounted tickets that were offered to the Sacramento Blues Society!   This will be a wonderful festival with a full variety of blues styles.   Hopefully we’ll see you there and be sure to stop by for a festival tどshirt to support our BITS program!  Over the next couple of months there will be some more blues shows coming our way.  The next SBS event from Liz Walker (our Event Chair) is a return of the popular “Blues Diva” showcase on August 21.  This will be held at a ‘new’ venue  ど  the  courtyard outside of Po’ Boyz  Sports Bar & 

Grill  in Folsom featuring Lady Bianca, Tess Honn & Lena Mosley!   On  September  11th  the  SBS will  be  hosting  a benefit for the SideどByどSide program at the famous Torch Club  in downtown  Sacramento  (stay  tuned  for  the  lineどup).   The SBS will be holding the annual  IBC competition on October 10th at the Capitol City Hotel ballroom (again stay tuned for more details).  The Fire On The Mountain – Sonora Blues Festival will be held on August 14th in Sonora with a great lineどup and on September 18th there are three festivals to check out: the Delta  Blues  Festival  in  Antioch,  Blues  By  The  River  in Redding  or  Klamath  Blues  Festival  in  Klamath  Falls Oregon.   And don’t forget Blues on  the Green 2 at KXJZ on September 26.  It sold out early last year.   I’m pleased  to  say  I will be attending  the Blues  By  The Bay  Festival  in  Eureka  this  year  with  some  of  my  SBS friends  over  the  Labor Day weekend.   Hopefully  one  of them will write an article for the next issue.     Enjoy the rest of “Summer 2010” by catching some blues near  you!      Thanks  again  for  your  continued  support of the  Sacramento Blues  Society,  the Blues  In  The  Schools Program,  the  benefits,  the  local  clubs,  the  festivals  and the wonderful blues musicians in our area.    As always, “Save me a seat”, Willie Brown

What’s Happening – by Lizzie Walker

Hey  there!   Summer  is popping out  in a big  way.      Stuff  going  on  all  over  the place  and  I  hope  you’re  getting  out  of the  house  and  enjoying  some  tunes somewhere.     First off, let me tell you we had a blast at the Monterey Bay Blues Festival.     Even though it was only for a day we packed it tight and had a really good time. 

 Next  thing  happening  through  Sac  Blues  Society will  be our annual salute to the Blues Divas.   The ladies will take the  stage  on  Saturday,  August  21

st,  OUTDOORS  at 

Po’Boyz, 7pmど10pm.   This will be a very exiting show feaどturing Tess & Hip Trash, along with our own Lena Mosley.   Acting  on  some  recommendations  from  blues  society members  we’re  bringing  Lady  Bianca  to  the  stage  to headline our show.   Her high energy band is sure to rock the  house  (or  stars  in  this  case.)   We’re  also  hoping  to highlight  some  of  the  young  blues  divas  from  our  local school programs.   Put your dancing shoes on and get on out there, it’s going to be a blast.    Labor Day weekend will find Sacramento Blues Society at Cal  Expo  in  collaboration with  the NAACP  for  their  first R&B  Festival  in  Sacramento.      The  festival  will  be  Sat., Sept.    4th,   noonど10:00pm.     SBS  is proud  to be part of this  event  and  sponsoring  a  2  hour  set  featuring   Dave Croal &  the  Soothers and Marshal Wilkerson &  Smoked Sugar.   We need several stage hands to work throughout the  day  so  if  you’re  interested  in  volunteering  for  this

event  let me know.   Stay tuned for ticket information. Come  on  out  to  the  Capital  City Hotel,  on Oct.  10th  to check out  the competition  for our nominee to  the  Interどnational Blues  Challenge.    Local musicians will  be  going head  to head  to win  the opportunity  to go  to Memphis and compete with acts from all over the world.   You will be hearing more about this event as the date nears.  The IBC  is  always  an  exciting  event  so  be  sure  to  save  the date.  Our  annual  membership  party  happens  December  5th.   I’m still taking suggestions as to whom you’d like to see at YOUR party.   We’ve had  a  suggestion  to  take  the party train  to  Reno  this  winter  and  see  a  show,  maybe  coどordinating with  the  Reno  Blues  Society.      Is  that  someどthing  you’d  like  to  do?    Just  let  me  know...

BITS  is  on  summer  vacation  –  we’ve been  enjoying  some  of  the  excellent allどage jams happening in the area, and encourage you to so the same!   Check out the listing at the end of this article.  We’ve  scheduled  2  BITS  assemblies early  in the 2010/11 school year.   One at  Rosemont  High  School  on  Friday, October 29, 2010, the other at Cristo Rey High School on November 1, 2010.  The Sacramento Blues Society’s (SBS) Board of Directors  approved  5  free BITS  assemblies per

members of  the  local media  (Fox 40 News, The Auburn Journal, etc.)  And, let me say the young players who show up here are not  just playing around –  they are serious and  talented!  Most  Tuesdays  you  will  be  treated  to  performances  by any or all of the following:   Connor  James, 14, guitarist; Nolan  Levine,  14,  drummer;  Victor  Jue,  15,  guitarist; Dillon  Reeder,  18,  drums  (and  trumpet);  Tyler  Walter, 19,  bass  (Dillon  &  Tyler  are  cousins  &  make  a  great rhythm  section);  Samantha  Slade,  12,  guitar  &  vocals; Jordyn Scott, 13, vocals; Dylan Sweet, 20,  trumpet; and new  players  joining  almost  weekly.    I  also  want  to mention  Fausto  Montalvan  and  Scott  Rogers,  both guitarists  new  to  the  blues  jam  scene,  and  both  very proficient and entertaining.  This has become a dynamic unofficial “blues lab” for our next generation.  It’s great watching

Since  2004,  when  I  started  the  Blues  In  the  Schools program,  I’ve been clamoring for more places where the under 21 crowd can play and listen to Blues.  While there are  a  few  coffee  houses  and  restaurants  in  town  that have live music, even a couple that offer open mic nights and  welcome  young  performers,  I  was  looking  for something  more.    Something  weekly,  consistent,  and vibrant.    I think  I’ve found  just such a spot  in the weekly allどages jam 6:30 ど9:30 pm Tuesday nights at Basic Urban Kitchen  &  Bar  –  aka  Bar  Basic  ど  located  at  112  Pacific Street Roseville, CA in Old Town Roseville.  The  place  has  an  urban  postどdeconstruction  feel  –  it’s open,  noisy,  cold,  &  industrial  ど  not  at  all  cozy  –  and perfect  for  music  collaboration  of  the  loud  and  bluesy type.    It’s  a  familyどfriendly  place  that  serves  up  delish pizza & salads, with a full bar.  Sports fans can watch the games while the music plays through.   The parents LOVE it,  they  have  a  fun  evening  out  with  the  whole  family, while supporting their kids’ quest for music, and enjoying the  creative  process  happening  before  their  watchful eyes.    The  enthusiasm  shown  by  the  kids  and  their families has energized  the blues pros and  the music  just flows out over the room.  This  is a MOどCO (musician/venue owner coどop)  jam, well attended by professional musicians, young jammers, their families & friends, and blues enthusiasts from all over the place.   The jam is hosted by JohnnyどO, and supported by noted  local  professional  musicians  Skip  Murphy,  Brian Evan  Sweet,  Steve Boutte, Ron Hull, Rick  Taylor, Daryl Singh,  Chris  Fraire,  Andy  Keane,  Marty  Holland,  Tom Gunterman, just to name a few.       Aside from musicians, families  and  friends,  you  can  also  see  local,  music advocates Uncle Bob and Carol; SBS Board Members; and 

calendar  year, and  these performances will be provided free  to  the  schools.    If  you  want  BITS  at  your  school, please email us at   bits@sacblues.com.   Thank you, SBS Board of Directors!!  Through  our  involvement  with  the  Sacramento  Arts Growth Circle, we learned of many ways to improve BITS and met several nonどprofit experts who shared strategies and resources.  We will be receiving a grant from the Sacどramento  Region  Community  Foundation  to  assist  with advancing  our  program.    Look  for  great  things  in  the months ahead!

had the Garden Stage jumping in no time.  These guys are from the Central Valley and have a great sound.  The Red Hot Blues Sisters lived up to their name.  I had seen them in  Memphis  a  couple  of  years  ago  and  they  have tightened up considerably.   “Caffeine”, their salute to the Seattle  bean was  hilarious.    Tip  of  the  Top  was  a  new band  to me out of  the bay area.   Very  tight, very  ‘50ish style, very professional, really, really good.  I especially got a kick out of the “cigarette” girl in the red high heels and red  tray  working  the  crowd  selling  cd’s.    Very  clever.   Caught  the  last  of  A.C.  Myles,  who  looked  like  he  was having a ball and as usual The Laurie Morvan Band came out blazing.  This was a first festival appearance for Laurie and from the crowds reaction I doubt it’ll be her last.  The Phil Gates Band fuses all kinds of styles together to create something  totally  his  own.    Very  unique  and  energetic.  The  3  Bosses  of  the  Blues  Review  turned  out  to  be 

Artwork  Jamal,  Big  Daddy  Cade and  Johnny Rawls.    I wasn’t able to catch Johnny but Artwork Jamal hit  the  lowest  note  I  think  I’ve ever heard and Big Daddy is a B.B. King  impersonator!    Personally sanctioned  by  B.B.  himself  this guy  totally

Road Trip—June 26 to Monterey Blues Festival—By Lizzie; Photos by Vj

Leaving  the  100°+  temperatures  of  Sacramento  for  the cool  ocean  breezes  of Monterey was  a  sacrifice  but we sucked  it  up  and  hit  the  road  VERY  early  Saturday morning.   Being one of the first ones  into the parking  lot and onto the shuttle to the  fairgrounds definitely had  its advantages.  Made it to the Garden Stage in time to catch our own Kyle Rowland  getting the day started.    It didn’t take  long  for  the  area  to  start  filling  once  he  let  loose.   The Gary Mendoza Band  (aka Kyle Rowland Band for the day) was on board to back him up and they rocked  it!  In Kyle’s endearing way  it didn’t take  long to win the crowd over.  Ending the set with a tribute to his late mother, the band  played  a wonderful  old  Sunday  school  song,  “This Little Light of Mine”.  The place went crazy and when Kyle walked  through  the crowd  to get a hug  from his dad  (all the while playing his harp) there wasn’t a dry eye around.  Our  mission  accomplished  (the plan was to support Kyle) we felt released  to enjoy whatever else was on the schedule for the day.  And  boy...did  we  have  some options!   Kaye  Bohler  definitely 

l e f t b e h i n d some  very  warm  laps  as  she made  her  way  through  the crowd  (I’m not  sure  those  guys will  ever  be  the  same!)    Mike Hammar  and  the  Nails  came straight off  the main  stage  and 

Steve Boutte, Brian Sweet,  Ron Hull, and others lead a  group  of  youngsters  through  a  couple  of  songs.  They’re  teaching  not  only  playing  techniques,  but onstage  protocols,  etiquette  and  all  those  hand signals and snappy  instructions given to each other.  The  stage  is  laid  out  in  front  of  a  large  rollどup window which offers a unique opportunity to watch the performers from backstage (which is actually the sidewalk out  front.)   Musicians peer  in  the window to study and critique each other, novice players take in  the  moves  and  riffs  on  guitar,  drums  and  bass.  With each changeどup onstage, others move outside to  check  out  the  action  and  offer  tips  on  playing.   It’s  a  beautifully  organic  process  &  such  fun  to watch!  Come check it out soon!!

September 1954 – April 2010

On June 6th a tribute was held for an  incredible musician and  song writer,  Rene  Solis,  at  the  Avalon Nightclub  in Santa Clara. The  room was  filled with  friends and  family who came to pay their respects to a great performer and even greater person.   Rene  was  a  raw,  powerful  and  emotional  guitar  player and vocalist who had pleased audiences across  the U.S., Canada  and  Mexico.  During  his  life  he  had  played alongside  some  of  the  biggest  names  in  the  blues including B.B. King, Albert King,  John Lee Hooker, Kenny Neal,  and  his  former  band  mate  in  NiteCry,  Tommy Castro.  His  musical  credits  encompassed  headlining  the Monterey  Bay  Blues  Festival,  the  New  Orleans  Jazz  & Heritage Festival, Memphis  in May,  the Sacramento  Jazz Jubilee, the San Francisco Blues Festival, and many other concerts and events.  Rene was  the  founding member of  the popular NiteCry Band, as well as  the band Lucky  13, which had many of the  same  members.  Both  bands  were  known  for  their dynamic  R&B  and  blues  that  captivated  loyal  fans  with their  mastery  of  diverse  musical  styles.  Rene  was  also well known as  the creator/ producer of  the Blues Guitar Extravaganza that brought together the biggest and best blues  guitarists  in  existence  for  a  showcase  of  amazing proportions.  The  tribute  opened  with  Lucky  13  performing  with Sacramento’s  own  Jeff  Watson  on  guitar  and  vocals. NiteCry  then  took  the  stage  playing many  of  the  songs Rene  had  written  with  the  help  of  numerous  notable guitar  players  who  were  in  attendance  including  Alvon Johnson, Tommy Castro, Chris Cain, Garth Webber, Max Cabello,  Jr.,  Vince  Caminiti,  Steve  Fruend,  Terry  Hiatt, and Jeff Watson.  Between  songs,  heartfelt  remarks  and  anecdotes  from Rene’s daughter and friends brought tears to many eyes. All  proceeds  from  the  tribute  benefited  the  Rene  Solis Foundation.

The Sacramento Blues Society is soliciting nominations for the  2010 Hall  of  Fame  and we've made  it  very  easy  to participate.    Submit  your  nomination  online  now  from our web site!  To nominate a worthy person, please go to www.sacblues.com and click on Sac Blues Hall of Fame in the  left  margin.    Be  sure  to  read  the  nominating guidelines and selection process before you submit.  All nominees must be  submitted prior  to September 15, 2010, to be considered for the 2010 Hall of Fame award. Nominations  received after  that date will be  considered for next year’s award.   You may also nominate as many different  people  that  you  believe  have  a  history  of impacting Blues music in  the Sacramento area.  The  2010  Sacramento  Blues  Society  ど  Hall  of  Fame Induction  Ceremony  will  be  during  the  annual "Membership  Party"  in  December  2010.    Past  Hall  of Fame  awards  and  plaques  are  on  display  at  the  “world famous” Torch Club.

makes it happen.  It was kinda weird cause I kept thinking it was B.B. up there. Fellow road tripper, Rob Sawyer, has this to say about a  couple of acts from the main stage:  Rory BlockどMy first time to hear her live.  All alone on the huge stage, the 

6,000 seat arena only ¼ full, she plays the Delta from the heart.  Ruthie FosterどAlways a kick, a rocking gospel tinged quartet.  I want to go to Texas and sit on her back porch.   

This  was  a  really  fun  day  (really,  really  long  but  really, really fun.)   The festival was extremely well organized.    I especially  liked  how  the  stage  performances  were staggered enough that you could catch a significant chunk of  the  different  bands.    Next  year  we’re  definitely considering renting a RV.  The RV’s were all camped right next  to  the  fairgrounds with easy access back and  forth.  You  should have  smelled  some of  the parties  going on!  Mmmm…nothing  like cow and pig on  the grill  to get my taste  buds  jumping  (sorry  vegetarians  &  vegans,  don’t mean  to  offend).   All  in  all,  the  25th Anniversary  of  the Monterey  Bay  Blues  Festival was  totally worth  the  trip.  Thanks  to  my  fellow  roadies,  I’d  day  trip  with  you  any day!

4 days of music and fun right here in River City!!  In case you don’t know, it’s not much Dixieland anymore but also lots of contemporary, mainstream and Latin jazz, zydeco, a couple of crazy, fun marching bands and one day emphasizing Blues!   Lots of talent from all over right here in our own back yard!  

Little Charlie’s Caravan had a line outside, Joey V and Richie Marks were part of the “hot” in Miss Margie’s Hot Five, Steve Wall supported the 

tight harmonies of Sister Swing, and then there was also the Sunday Blues show and finale.  A pleasant surprise was finding a local connection to a New Orleans artist Vince Bartel’s dad.  Hank plays bass with the New Orleans Ale Stars, and managed to stick his tongue out for his photo.   I was amazed to meet so many folks from afar

c. Luther Allison is1. Bernard Allison has kept the high-energy spirit of his string-dazzler dad alive with a series of discs on both US and overseas labels, combined with plenty of touring. He got his start as a teenager backing Koko Taylor, and eventually became Luther’s European bandleader.

Dubbed “This Time is our 5th Time” by the El Dorado Arts Council  (EDAC),  this  show  in  the Henningsen  Lotus park area of Lotus & Coloma was wellどattended in spite of the blistering sun.  All proceeds were to benefit the many arts 

programs  of  EDAC,  a  nonどprofit organization. 

The  Shane  Dwight  Band opened  the  show  with  his h i g h   ene r g y   a nd outstanding  talent  that  got many of the audience up on their  feet.    A  Northern California  original  (San Jose),  Shane  has  appeared 

on “Elwood Blues’ House of Blues Radio Hour” as well as repeat performances on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise (LRBC).  Although Shane is a versatile artist, rocking out with  rockどandどroll,  alt  country, Americana  and R&B, 

he  is  a  true  rising  star  of  the blues. 

Laurie  Morvan  has  become  a huge  favorite of  the  LRBC  crowd and  didn’t  disappoint  one  bit!  This  blonde,  skinny  (her  words) woman  just happens to also be a Calculus  professor  for  her  day job!    Laurie  slams  the  guitar  & 

belts  out  her  original  songs  so  wildly  that  it  makes  it impossible to  imagine her teaching.   Laurie won the best 

selfどproduced  CD  in  this  year’s International  Blues  Challenge  in Memphis  and  also  selfどproduced  a TV  special  that  aired  in  February, “Laurie  Morvan  Band:  Nothing  But The Blues.”   This talented woman  is definitely going places! 

This show was all about the blues & guitarists  who  play  them.    Coco Montoya has always been a favorite

and he did not disappoint.   He was mentored by Albert Collins  as  a  drummer,  later  became  a  selfどtaught guitarist  for  John  Mayall  and  the  Bluesbreakers  for  10 years.  Playing leftどhanded and often upside down, Coco wrings emotion  from his guitar  that  sometimes  sounds as  if  it’s crying.   Coco recently released his seventh solo 

album  “I  Want  It  All  Back,” produced  by  Keb’  Mo’  and  Jeff Paris, who also performed on it. 

Stepping up to the stage, the only nonどguitar player of the day, was Charlie Musselwhite, harp player extraordinaire.   Now hailing from the  Bay  Area,  but  originally  a 

Mississippi boy, Charlie honed his skills when he moved to Chicago  in the 1960’s where he became a friend and disciple of harmonica maestro Big Walter Horton, among others.    The  Blues  Hall  of  Fame  honor  was  recently bestowed  upon  him  at  the  Blues  Music  Awards  in Memphis,  he  has  a  marker  on  the

Blues Highway, an exhibit  in  the Delta Blues Museum  in Clarksdale,  MS  and  many  other  awards.    This  is  a  true master of the harmonica and  just happens to be a really nice guy. 

Robert  Cray  headlined  the  show,  accompanied  by  his longどtime  performing  partners  bassist  Richard  Cousins and keyboardist Jim Pugh.  Tony Braunagel (Keb’ Mo’, Taj Mahal,  Bonnie  Raitt  and  BB  King)  completed  the ensemble  on  drums.    The  Robert  Cray  Band  performed many  of  their  hits  from  the  albums  “Strong Persuader”  (1986)  and  “Don’t  Be  Afraid  of  the Dark”  (1988),  both  winners  of  the  best  contemporary blues  performance  Grammy.    The  fiveどtime  Grammy Award winner has been performing over 35 years. 

It’s always gratifying to see people of all ages enjoying the blues  music  genre  and  this  annual  event  is  one not to be missed!

Lurrie Bell has demonstrated prodigious facility as both an electric and acoustic guitarist, although bizarre behavior and personal problems have at times derailed what could have been a brilliant career. Harpsman Carey Bell was a Chicago Blues Hall of Famer who started playing professionally at thirteen. We hope you enjoyed the quiz. We’ll have more next issue.

I was  listening  to Mick Martin’s  show  on  a  Saturday afternoon  (6ど12ど10)  &  heard  him  say  that  Matt  Schofield  was playing at Harlow’s that evening & that he might possibly be the greatest living guitar player – or something close to that!   Anyway that  inspired me to hustle over  early &  get  a  ticket,  then  take  a walk down J St for 2nd Saturday.     The show was scheduled to begin at 9:30, actually started at 10:20pm but worth the wait!        Matt  made  guitar playing  look  sooo  easy  –  his fingers were flyin – good bluesど good voiceど the band had great sound & I loved the drummer – his  stix  were  a  blur!!    Wow!!  The  crowd  loved  this  band      ど Matt  played  some  laid  back blues & the band was right with him.  What a treat!

I'm  your  newest  board  member "at  large",  and  although  I'm  not living  the  blues  any  more  I  still can't  get  enough  of  this  soulどtouching music.   I'm  honored  to  be  of  service  to this  organization.  I've  served  for over  10  years  on  several committees  &  a  council  for  a consensus  group  that  ultimately 

creates national  laws and  I know  the value of getting all opinions when vetting an issue.   I hope to share more detail about SBS happenings to our general membership and  to bring member  ideas and/or concerns to the board.  I was a guest at nearly every SBS board meeting  in  the past year,  initially  to see what SBS 

does,  and  got  hooked  after  discovering  the  amazing contributions  SBS  makes  in  this  community.    We are blessed to have such dedicated and hard working members, but most of the "duty" seems to be carried by a  small percentage of our  everどgrowing  group.  It would be  great  to have more  input  and  fresh  ideas on  all  SBS committees and activities. This is your society and we will bring greater value to our members and more strength to the Society with improved communication all around. The "Contact Us"  link on our website can act as a suggestion box so please feel free to share your input.   And board meetings are open  to all members.   They are the 2nd Tuesday of each month 7:00 PM at the SMUD Building,     6301 S Street.
