Well, we’ve reached that halfway point in
our year already and the temperatures have been
hot, hot and HOTTER! It’s funny how with the
change of seasons comes the change of weather
complaints. If we aren’t trying to warm up, we’re
trying to cool down. I hope that the summer is
being kind to you so far and that you’ve enjoyed
some relaxation time with family and friends.
I would imagine many of you are looking forward to the Wildwood trip in September. I think
Jean already has her bags packed! It’s sure to be another fun week at the Jersey Shore.
After our picnic in July, we only have five more meetings before we say goodbye to 2019.
Of course, we do our best to bring you new and different entertainment and I think we’ve
succeeded this fall with some new acts to entertain the crowd, as you will see on the
following pages.
Otherwise, along with the changing of leaves, here at the Rec we are preparing for
some of our year’s big fundraisers. November 16 brings our fifth annual Clare Point Derby.
This is a great night out, filled with horse racing and fabulous food and drinks – bring your
friends and have fun as a group! We will also be holding our fifth annual Spruce Up the Rec
Bingo on Sunday, Dec. 8. Again, this is a great event that benefits the Rec Center and the
upkeep of our building and you could win BIG prizes! You know what they say - you can’t win
if you don’t play! Stay tuned for more on purchasing tickets for both events. Hope you have
a great second half of the year. Thank you for all you do to support the Rec and our
Golden Years Club.
