Grant’s Corral Time Is of the Essence for OHB’s Customer Service During a recent Wednesday morning staff meeting, a dozen OHB co-workers and I sat around our conference table discussing how we could improve our already out- standing customer services. I asked each of them to consider, “Why has OHB come to be known as the friendly bank with superior customer service?” I heard a lot of good responses from the staff, ranging from a caring attitude, a sincere smile, full attention to the customer, calling the customer by his/her name, knowing about the customer’s family, listening carefully, prompt and appropriate attention to requests, and ‘positively outrageous service.’ Each of their answers was correct and appropriate. But I wanted to explain why OHB’s commitment to the highest level of person-to-person service has resulted in the bank’s success and growth. So I asked, “What do all your answers about customer service have in common?” I received a dozen puzzled looks to my rhetorical question. I continued, “Time is of the essence . . . that is the foundation of OHB’s successful cus- tomer service success.” I went on to say, “Our customers want to have their time respected. Waste a customer’s time and you will lose his trust and his business.” Each of us is blessed with a certain amount of time on this earth, and all of us notice the passing of time in moments, every day. Time is our most precious asset, and this urgency of time holds the key to outstanding customer service in any business. Life is lived in bits and pieces of time, passing moments that consume our allotted time. Not killing our customer’s time . . . that metaphor is so obvious . . . wasting another person’s time is much like taking a piece of his/her life . . . killing the customer’s time with poor service will kill any business. Time is of the essence is legalese, often used in contracts to indicate that time is an essential ingredient of the legal agreement. At OHB this concept, Time is of the Essence, is the guide for the way we work with our friends and neighbors to serve their business needs. We are pledged not to waste our customers’ time. In many differ- ent ways we strive to save time for our customers; for example, when you telephone OHB during business hours your calls will be answered promptly by a knowledgeable and helpful staff person and not a robotic recording; your telephone call will not be placed on Hold for long waits; we will be on time for appointments with you; we will respond to your questions the same day or within 24 hours at most; we will come to your office or busi- ness location when it’s desirable and convenient; decisions about your accounts and loan applications will be made locally and promptly (within 24 hours of your completed application); we will respect your time and not waste your time. Our customer service will save you time, every time we can be of service. Come let us show you the ‘what and how’ of OHB’s unique customer service. Your time is of the essence at OHB. Grant Ward, President/CEO OHB Home-Improvement Loans Bring Fun &Value We enjoy helping our friends and neighbors to improve their homes, to accomplish their family’s home needs, and to realize their dreams for their homes. Whether it’s another bedroom, a family room, a home office, a shop, home repairs, landscaping, or a swim- ming pool, we are dedicated to finding the financing that can make these home improvements happen. In Oklahoma, home-swimming pools are growing in popularity because our temperate climate allows swimming most of the year and because of the importance of home-centered lifestyles. In-ground swimming pools are also likely to add value to the property and will enhance the appearance of a home and yard. Nearly five million American homes have swimming pools and probably a substantial number of these pools were added as improvements to existing homes by the families living there. We also imagine that many of these millions of pools have been financed through home-improvement loans. Although the warm summer weather is yet weeks away, now would be a good time to consider adding a pool or other home-addition/enhancement. Perhaps a home swimming pool has been your dream, especially during the ‘dog days of summer.’ Maybe it’s time to consider a home-improvement loan from OHB for a new swimming pool to turn your back yard into a refreshing oasis just in time to be enjoyed by your family and friends this summer. C3 Construction, Inc., an Ada-based company locally owned and operated by Chris and Patricia Whisenant, has over 15 years of experience in swimming-pool installations, ranging from smaller to elaborately landscaped styles. Chris is personally involved in each C3 project, taking special care to understand the needs and desires of the home owners. He can show you a variety of pools that they have built and help you design a unique pool suited to your home. Come visit with us soon to see how OHB can assist you with home-improvement financing to build a swimming pool for this summer or to work out a way for other home improvements to make your dream home into your reality. OHB-Ada Branch Opens Teller Stations OHB-Ada listens. Soon after the Grand Opening of our remodeled space in the North Hills Shopping Center in our Ada offices, our friends and neighbors began asking, “Where are your Tellers?” And we listened to these questions and answered by obtaining approval from the Oklahoma Banking Department for a full-service branch in Ada. Then we immediately remodeled the 3-month-old office space to create two spacious Teller stations in the lobby of our Ada North Hills branch. In our strategic planning leading to establishing our fourth banking location, we had made arrangements to accept deposits and make loans as a Loan Production Office/Deposit Production Office (LPO/DPO), assuming that we could accommodate our customers’ needs for Teller transactions through couriers to and from our other locations and by installing a lobby ATM for cash withdrawals. We were wrong in these assumptions. We had considered this LPO/DPO as a short-term transition to a full-service bank to be built on the 1 1/2 acres fronting Lonnie Abbott Drive. But we made a mistake in our planning for OHB’s temporary banking location, not underestimating how often the Teller station would be requested before we could move into a new bank building. We apologize to our friends and neighbors who have been inconvenienced by the lack of Teller service for OHB-Ada. Full-Service Tellers are available during usual business hours now.
