Harsh Realities of Homeless Women Vinny also talked about the transgender community and explained that they expect the society to be more respectful and sensitive towards them, as they too are as much humans as others, and have similar feelings. She drew our attention to this highly sensitive issue. Supreme Court of India in its pioneering judgment recognized the third gender along with the male and

female. Both our guests from this community, Kajal and Dhananjay boldly and clearly expressed their concern that in spite of the landmark judgment of the apex court in their favour, the transgender community is in a constant battle as they are fighting for

their rights and against oppression, abuse and discrimination from every part of the society, whether it’s their own family and friends or society at large. It is a matter great appreciation that with their earnings four of them are pursuing their studies, including at the university level.

Rtn. Sundeep Singh Sawhney thanked Dr. Satinder Sachdeva for her talk, highlighting the genuine problems of women and transgender community.
