Volunteer Excellence Awards 2012 The upcoming Awards evening is our inaugural Excellence Awards for Volunteers.

It gives you, our affiliated organisation, and us the opportunity to thank and recognize the individual ‘good’ done in our community by volunteer effort.

Why nominate someone? The aim of Volunteer Western Bay of Plenty Excellence Awards is to highlight the volunteer effort that goes into helping not-for-profit groups achieve their potential. It recognizes individual achievement, while publicly acknowledging all voluntary effort. These awards are also an opportunity for all community organisations to publicly express their thanks to the volunteers. All nominees will receive a Certificate of Appreciation to mark the occasion of their nomination for the award. The winners will receive a framed certificate as well as a Cash Award. Who can be nominated? Any volunteer working for one of our affiliated not-for-profit or charitable trust organisations can be nominated. There are two awards or categories: Volunteer of the Year 2012 Youth Volunteer of The Year 2012 (under 25 years of age) The judging process: Each judge will separately review and assess all entries, then discuss their assessments as a group. The judge’s criteria will closely follow the questions asked on the nomination form. An important aspect of ensuring your nomination has every chance at success is to make sure you complete each section thoroughly. Please provide all the information requested in detail.


Volunteer of the Year Award 2012

Individual Nomination

Explanation: This award recognizes and honours people who have made an outstanding

contribution in our community.

Nominees will be judged on their voluntary work within the nominating organisation, and the wider community.

Their services must be given voluntarily to help others,

without expecting any personal or financial gain.

Criteria: • Volunteers up to the age of 25 may be nominated in the

youth category (refer to separate nomination form). • Your organisation must be affiliated to Volunteer

Western Bay of Plenty. • Nominations must be typed or clearly printed. • Any supporting material will not be returned. • Judging will be conducted solely by a committee

nominated by Volunteer WBOP. Their decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

• Selected personnel from nominating organisations may be photographed for publicity purposes.
