Intended UseThe Maxi Mix Plus is a general laboratory vortex mixer. Itis intended for applications where vortexing of single ormultiple tubes is required.

The unit consists of 1) a rubber mixing cup, 2) a siliconerubber mixing platform complete with plate & screws3) a two–position mode switch for touch-on or constant-onoperation. Model M63210-33 also includes a separateON/OFF lighted power switch.

General UsageDo not use this product for anything other than its intend-ed use.

Principles of OperationThe mixer incorporates a permanently lubricated motor todrive the mixing head. A two-position mode switchenables the mixer to be operated continuously or bydepression of the rubber mixing cup or mixing platform.The mixer operates up to the speed of 3200 rpm (max.).Suction cup feet are incorporated to prevent “walking.”

Place unit on a stable, flat surface and plug into an appro-priate outlet.

The power switch on the M63215 and the M63214 is acombination ON/OFF and mode switch to enable“TOUCH” operation. Move the mode switch to either the“CONSTANT ON” position or the “TOUCH ON” position.In the “CONSTANT ON” position, the rubber mixing cupwill oscillate continually. In the “TOUCH ON” position, themixing cup will oscillate when pressure is applied to thecup. To stop the mixing action, release the pressure beingexerted on the mixing cup.

Model M63210-26 incorporates a mode switch to enable“TOUCH ON” or “CONSTANT ON” operation. This modelalso includes a separate lighted ON/OFF switch.

The Troubleshooting section is intended to aid in defining and correcting possible service problems. Whenusing the chart select the problem category that resembles the malfunction, then proceed to the possiblecauses category and take necessary corrective action.

To Replace the Mode Switchand/or Power Switch

1. Disconnect mixer from power supply.

2. Remove rubber mixing cup from counterweight.

3. Turn mixer upside down and remove the fourscrews securing case. Turn mixer upright andremove case.

4. Disconnect wires from switch. Identify or markwires disconnected to ensure proper placementand connection when reinstalling.

5. Remove defective switch.

6. Install new switch with the number “3” terminalon top. Install the wires as identified or markedin Step 4.

7. Reinstall case and secure with four screws.

8. Secure rubber mixing cup to counterweight.

9. Reconnect mixer to power supply.

To Replace Microswitch1. Disconnect mixer from power supply.

2. Remove rubber mixing cup from counterweight.

3. Turn mixer upside down and remove the fourscrews securing case. Also remove four screwssecuring motor.

4. Turn mixer upright and remove case.

5. Position motor on its side.

6. Disconnect the two wires from microswitch andremove microswitch from motor. Save the springand plunger from defective micro switch. Identify

or mark wires disconnected to ensure properplacement and connection when reinstalling.

7. Insert spring and plunger into the shaft of thenew microswitch. Position microswitch onmounting studs and secure with two screws.Reconnect the wires as identified or marked inStep 6.

8. Reposition motor and secure with four screws.

9. Reinstall case and secure with four screws.

10. Secure rubber mixing cup to counterweight.

11. Reconnect mixer to power supply.

To Replace Motor1. Disconnect mixer from power supply.

2. Remove rubber mixing cup from counterweight.

3. Turn mixer upside down and remove the fourscrews securing case. Also remove four screwssecuring motor.

4. Turn mixer upright and remove case.

5. Disconnect wires from motor. Identify or markwires disconnected to ensure proper placementand connection when reinstalling.

6. Remove the counterweight assembly, bracketand damper springs from top of motor.

7. Remove the six mounting studs and themicroswitch assembly from bottom of motor.

8. Reinstall the components removed in Steps 6and 7 to the new motor.

9. Reconnect the wires as identified or marked inStep 5.

10. Reposition motor and secure with four screws.

11. Reinstall case and secure with four screws.

12. Secure rubber mixing cup to counterweight.

13. Reconnect mixer to power supply.

To Replace Damper Springs1. Disconnect mixer from power supply.

2. Remove rubber mixing cup from counterweight.

3. Turn mixer upside down and remove the fourscrews securing case.

4. Turn mixer upright and remove case.

5. Remove defective damper springs.

6. Install new damper springs.

7. Reinstall case and secure with four screws.

8. Secure rubber mixing cup to counterweight.

9. Reconnect mixer to power supply.

To Install Silicone RubberPlatform Accessory

1. Disconnect mixer from power supply.

2. Remove single cup mixing head.

3. Screw the accessory plastic base into place.

4. Remove the paper back from the silicone rubberdisc and press the side with the adhesive ontothe plastic base.

5. Reconnect mixer to power supply.

Barnstead|Thermolyne Corporation warrants that if a product manufactured by Barnstead|Thermolyne andsold by it within the continental United States or Canada proves to be defective in material or construction, itwill provide you, without charge, for a period of ninety (90) days, the labor, and a period of one (1) year, theparts, necessary to remedy any such defect. Outside the continental United States and Canada, the warrantyprovides, for one (1) year, the parts necessary to remedy any such defect. The warranty period shall commence either six (6) months following the date the product is sold by Barnstead|Thermolyne or on thedate it is purchased by the original retail consumer, whichever date occurs first.

All warranty inspections and repairs must be performed by and parts obtained from an authorizedBarnstead|Thermolyne dealer or Barnstead|Thermolyne (at its own discretion). Heating elements, however,because of their susceptibility to overheating and contamination, must be returned to our factory, and if, uponinspection, it is concluded that failure is not due to excessive high temperature or contamination, warrantyreplacement will be provided by Barnstead|Thermolyne.
