Stand at the PLMA’s “World of Private Label” International Trade Show in 2005 and 2006 (Amsterdam, May)

More than 2900 exhibit stands including more than 30 national and regionalpavilions. Approximately half of them are non-food products.Manufacturers from 60 countriesVisitors of the fair are retailers116 producer companies met: 12 holders, 5 textiles producers, 22 tissue paper producers, 45 detergents/cosmetics producers two retailers met: the French retailer System U and the Czech subsidiary of retailer Tesco

Strong demand from consumersThe most useful information for consumers willing to purchase eco-labelled products:

Most eco-labelled products are distributed through big retailers’ chainsMany eco-labelled products are retailers’ private labels (the manufacturer isoften an unknown SME, so providing the manufacturer’s contact details isnot very useful to consumers)

Often difficult to obtain from manufacturers:Some do not know where their products are distributedSome do not want to communicate the information for confidentiality reasons
