Sing like never before, oh my soul, I worship your holy name. The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning, it's time to sing your song again. Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me, let me be singing when the ev'ning comes. You're rich in love and you're slow to anger, your name is great and your heart is kind. For all your goodness I will keep on singing, ten thousand reasons for my heart to find. And on that day when my strength is failing, the end draws near and my time has come. Still my soul will sing your praise unending, ten thousand years and then forever more. CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: Beloved, we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God! All: Let us, therefore, hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted as we are in every way, yet without sin. WELCOME

SONG OF PREPARATION 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)

Bless the Lord, oh my soul, oh my soul, worship his holy name.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Beloved, we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God! All: Let us, therefore, hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted as we are in every way, yet without sin. Leader: Let us then draw near to the throne of grace in and with Christ-Our-Confidence! All: Let us draw near that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

PRAYER OF INVOCATION

SONGS OF PRAISE Ancient of Days

Blessing and honor, glory and power, be unto the Ancient of Days. From every nation, all of creation bow before the Ancient of Days.

Every tongue in heaven and earth shall declare your glory. Every knee will bow at your throne in worship. You will be exalted, O God, and your kingdom shall not pass away, O Ancient of Days.

Your kingdom shall reign over all the earth. Sing unto the Ancient of Days! For none can compare to your matchless worth. Sing unto the Ancient of Days!

Immortal, Invisible

Immortal, you are not like a man that you change your mind or change your plan. Invisible, our human eyes can't see the depths of your majesty.

You’re the God of forever and ever amen; the Alpha, Omega, Beginning and End. We sing hallelujah, we worship in awe; immortal, invisible God.

Immortal, you are not bound by death; you’re the living God, my very breath. Invisible you are not bound by space, but your glory is filling this place; yes, your glory is filling this place.

Immortal, yet you once died for me to pay my debt, to set me free; invisible you will not always be, ‘cause you’re coming to reign as our King; and the saints will fall down at your feet.

COMMUNION Jesus, All for Jesus 8:30 & 11:15 Services Only

Jesus, all for Jesus, all I am and have and ever hope to be. (repeat)

All of my ambitions, hopes, and plans, I surrender these into your hands. (repeat)

For it’s only in your will that I am free. (repeat)

On Jordan’s Stormy Banks

On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand, and cast a wishful eye to Canaan’s fair and happy land, where my possessions lie.

All o’er those wide extended plains, shines one eternal day; there God the Son forever reigns, and scatters night away.

I am bound (I am bound),I am bound (I am bound), I am bound for the promised land. (repeat)

No chilling winds nor poisonous breath can reach that healthful shore; sickness, sorrow, pain and death, are felt and feared no more.

When shall I reach that happy place and be forever blessed? When shall I see my Father’s face and in his bosom rest? BENEDICTION

NEW TESTAMENT LESSON John 3:1-15 3 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” 9 Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” 10 Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things? 11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 1 For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, 2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 and all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. Leader: This is the Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. SERMON Herb Ward

CONFESSION OF SIN

Leader: Let us confess our sins to Almighty God. All: Almighty and most merciful Father, we have strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our hearts. We have rebelled against your holy laws. We have left undone the things we should have done; and have done those things we should not have done. Leader: Hear us, now, O Lord, in your mercy, as we confess our sins to you:

Silent confession of sins

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: By the blood of Jesus, we have confidence to enter the holy places! All: Since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us keep drawing near with a true heart and full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from a guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. SONG OF ASSURANCE Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear and grace my fears relieved; how precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.

My chains are gone, I’ve been set free. My God, my Savior has ransomed me and like a flood his mercy reigns; unending love, amazing grace!

Through many dangers, toil, and snares, I have already come;'tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me, his Word my hope secures. He will my shield and portion be as long as life endures.

PRAYER 3 6

WE OFFER OUR GIFTS Death Was Arrested

Alone in my sorrow and dead in my sin. Lost without hope with no place to begin. Your love made a way to let mercy come in when death was arrested and my life began.

Ash was redeemed only beauty remains. My orphan heart, was given a name. My mourning grew quiet, my feet rose to dance when death was arrested and my life began.

Oh your grace, so free washes over me! You have made me new now life begins with you! It's your endless love pouring down on us. You have made us new now life begins with you!

Released from my chains I'm a prisoner no more. My shame was a ransom he faithfully bore. He cancelled my debt and he called me his friend. When death was arrested and my life began.

Our Saviour displayed on a criminal's cross. Darkness rejoiced as though Heaven had lost, but then Jesus arose with our freedom in hand. That's when death was arrested and my life began, ohhh!

Oh we're free, free, forever we're free! Come join the song of all the redeemed. Yes we're free, free, forever, amen! When death was arrested and my life began! OLD TESTAMENT LESSON Numbers 20:1-13; 21:4-9 1 And the people of Israel, the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month, and the people stayed in Kadesh. And Miriam died there and was buried there. 2 Now there was no water for the congregation. And they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. 3 And the people quarreled with Moses and said, “Would that we had perished when our brothers perished before Yahweh!

4 Why have you brought the assembly of Yahweh into this wilderness, that we should die here, both we and our cattle? 5 And why have you made us come up out of Egypt to bring us to this evil place? It is no place for grain or figs or vines or pomegranates, and there is no water to drink.” 6 Then Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the entrance of the tent of meeting and fell on their faces. And the glory of Yahweh appeared to them, 7 and Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 8 “Take the staff, and assemble the congregation, you and Aaron your brother, and tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water. So you shall bring water out of the rock for them and give drink to the congregation and their cattle.” 9 And Moses took the staff from before Yahweh, as he commanded him. 10 Then Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels: shall we bring water for you out of this rock?” 11 And Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his staff twice, and water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock. 12 And Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.” 13 These are the waters of Meribah, where the people of Israel quarreled with Yahweh, and through them he showed himself holy. 21:4 From Mount Hor they set out by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. And the people became impatient on the way. 5 And the people spoke against God and against Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this worthless food.” 6 Then Yahweh sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. 7 And the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against Yahweh and against you. Pray to Yahweh, that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. 8 And Yahweh said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.
