ROOM 114 – CLASS NEWSWHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO?
This week in math we started Unit 5,
which focuses on adding and subtracting
fractions. We learned about unit fractions and
reviewed the parts of a fraction. We alsocompared fractions and practiced subtracting
fractions. We will continue this unit in January.
In our current IB planner, students are
focusing their inquiry on Agents of Change.
The central idea of this planner is that
individuals have made contributions through
language, science, and the arts. This week
students began researching and taking notes
for their report. We spent time discussing
reliable websites and learned how to takegood notes. We will continue our research
next week and start writing our rough drafts.
Students focused on reading more
biographies during our literacy rotations this
week. In language arts, we continued working
on our poetry books. Our spelling list this week
focused on words with different endings.
There will be no spelling list or homework
packet next week.
We also celebrated the holidays with
our first grade buddies. Students were also
very anxious to get outside and enjoy all of the
snow we got over the weekend. Winter break
is almost here!! CONTACT INFORMATION:
