WALKS OF THE FARM HOUSE No. 5
Leave The Farm House and turn left. Walk along the High Street until the first
crossroad with direction to Water Lane. Turn left onto the street and keep
walking down the hill until a metal gate on the right (there is also a ‘Public
Footpath’ stone right next to this gate). Go through the gate, turn right and
follow the path along the stream and later along the lake (1) until you reach a
road. Turn left onto the road and keep walking along it until a car park.
Continue straight through it (past the wooden barrier into the second
section) until a wooden gate (2). Go through it and carry on straight along the
trail through the large nature park until the next wooden gate in the corner.
Go through the gate, join the road and continue straight along it. Go over a
bridge and keep walking for about 0.2 miles (300m) until the road bears
sharply to the right. Continue straight (follow ‘Public Bridleway’ signpost) into
the orchard. Carry on straight along the track (3) (in the direction of the oast
houses at the end of the orchard) until a road.
Turn left onto the road and keep walking along it for about 80 yards (80m)
until a drive way into ‘Broadwater Farm’. Turn right onto the driveway and
continue straight (in the beginning along the tarmac road, later along the
trail) into the orchard. Follow the line of bushes on the right, and at the end
of the line walk a short way to the right and join a track. Keep walking
straight to the other side of the orchard (4). In the corner take the small path
leading to the road.
Turn left onto the road and keep walking for about 50 yards (50m) until you
see a red mail box on the wall. Continue straight past the box onto a smaller
road. Keep walking straight through the property and past a small pond. At
the end carry on straight along a trail (5) and follow the stream on the left
until a T-junction of the footpaths. Turn left, walk under the railway bridge
and later through a wooden gate (6) onto a small road. Follow the road until
a T-junction.
Turn left and keep walking along the road for about 0.25 miles (400m). When
the road bears to the left, follow it for about 80 yards (80m) until a ‘Public
Footpath’ signpost and stone on the left (be careful it might be a bit tricky to
find it). Turn left onto a track and continue along it until a road. Cross the
road (follow the ‘Public Footpath’ signpost) and keep walking along a trail
until the next road. Turn right onto it, walk down and join the bigger road.
WALKS OF THE FARM HOUSE No. 5
Turn left onto the road and walk under the road bridge (and later under the
railway bridge as well). Keep walking along the road for about 0.6 miles (1km)
(you can see a very nice waterfall from the wall of the West Malling Abbey on
the left) until a T-junction. Turn left onto the High Street and walk along it
and The West Malling square back to The Farm House.
