DATES AND DEADLINES JANUARY COMPETITION NIGHT Competition night is on Monday 11th January 2021 in the Auditorium of the Wangi Workers Club. The rules have changed from last year and you are now able to enter 3 images a month instead of 4 (that was the norm in 2020). At this stage of the year the competition is digital only. We may return to digital and print later in 2021. Digital uploads are due in by 11pm on Saturday 26th December 2020. Our Set Subject for January is “Creative”. Morisset Show 2021 Photography Competition The 67th Morisset Show has been moved from the traditional February date to 16th – 17th October 2021, Morisset Showground. (www.morissetshow.org.au). Photographic Society of America (PSA) Interclub Competitions

The Wangi Camera club has become a club member of PSA with the specific purpose of entering the international interclub competitions run by PSA during the year. Competitions are on-going so keep an eye on our club website for Posts by Ian English for the next entry dates.

So far in this PSA competition new round, Wangi have come 1st in Creative and Nature and 9th in Travel. Great work! Thanks Ian for coordinating this. The PSA results details are shown in APPENDIX A.

COMPETITION NIGHT NOVEMBER COMPETITION NIGHT – Photo of the Year (POTY) POTY night was held on Monday 9th November. This competition is where the best photo of the year (POTY) is selected by an independent judge. Club members were able to submit up to 4 photos but only 2 in any category. The entries had to be photos that had been entered in this year’s competition but it doesn’t have to have won an award. Due to COVID-19 this year’s POTY was digital only. There were no prints or set subject section. A set subject entry could be entered but it had to be entered in the Colour, Mono or Nature section and compete against all the others. The POTY sections are: Mono, Colour and Nature. Nature images can come from all categories. The POTY competition was judged on line, where the judge gave a Merit score to the winner and a Credit score to the runner up, in each category for each grade. Then the judge selected the POTY winner for each grade from the Merit entries. The competition night was held on Monday 9th November 2020 In the POTY competition there were 44 Advance A Grade, 89 A Grade and 12 B Grade entries over 3 digital image categories.

Totals 44 89 12 Our judge for this year’s POTY was Mick Lynch. Mick has judged for us previously and did a fantastic job. The judging was done on-line. Michael Lynch has been practicing photography since 1972 and is a successful entrant in National and International photographic competitions, and over the years has acquired many awards and is now a regular International Entrant. He is an Accredited Judge and still judge’s competitions throughout NSW camera clubs. Michael has great interest in all aspects of photography encouraging and enjoys helping beginners and is encouraged by the magnificent work that local club members are producing in their local competitions. He is a passionate Black & White landscape, animal, wedding and portrait photographer.
