Calling local residents ...The Wanstead Village Directory is proud to support local businesses and we encourage you to do the same. Our High Street is proof enough of the individuality that independent retailers can bring to a town. Help us help these businesses by mentioning the Wanstead Village Directory when responding to adverts.

The Wanstead Village Directory is published monthly by Marquis IT LTD and distributed to homes in Wanstead, Snaresbrook & Aldersbrook. Additional copies are available from local public service locations and shops on and around Wanstead High Street.

The celebrities continue to arrive in Wanstead this month as the Redbridge Book and Media Festival continues throughout May with a stream of events that are sure to educate and entertain. John Virgo, the former UK snooker champion, is among those taking part and will be discussing his recently published biography of Alex Higgins at Wanstead Library. As the man who ‘made snooker exciting’, Alex Higgins was an unpredictable character and he was also the inspiration for John Virgo’s famous waistcoats. Turn to page 50 to read more of John’s views on the wild man of snooker.

Philosopher Julian Baggini will be posing some thought provoking questions when he takes the stage at the library to introduce his latest book. Described as one of the best and most stimulating introductions written about the intriguing topic of self-understanding by professor Anthony Grayling, The Ego Trick asks ‘what does it mean to be you?’ Turn to pages 32-33 to read the full book review.

And finally (pun intended), the festival comes to a close with former newsreader Peter Sissons, whose autobiography, When One Door Closes, was published earlier this year. From growing up in Liverpool and rubbing shoulders with John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison, to becoming one of Britain’s most distinguished newsreaders, Peter Sissons has some fascinating stories to tell. Having remained an unbiased journalist for many years I was keen to ask Peter for his views on a range of topics. Turn to pages 12-13 to read what he had to say about education, technology, the BBC… and the colour of his tie.

There are, of course, other events taking place at Wanstead Library and details of these can be found on pages 60-61 or online at www.redbridge.gov.uk/bam. If you are prepared to venture further afield, then you will also find plenty happening at other venues across the borough.

Welcome...

A masked robber stole thousands of pounds of stock from Keating Jewellers on the High Street in a daytime raid last month.

Wearing a black ski mask, a man smashed the shop window with what is thought to have been a sledgehammer. Elaine Keating, who owns the shop with her husband David, quickly started to remove the items on display, but the suspect reached inside and grabbed some of the jewellery – including the Tahitian pearl and

diamond earrings pictured above. The man then made off in a black Nissan ZX with two other men

in the car. Police were initially tasked to search the area for the vehicle, but without success. Anyone with

information should call DC Sara Bolley on 020 8345 2626 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Wanstead student interviews film director and star

A teenager from Wanstead High School enjoyed in-depth interviews with director Jennifer Arnold about her debut film ‘A Small Act’ and the subject of the film, Chris Mburu, before it was released in the UK last month. Inderpreet Lakhanpal, 17, is one of 11 new members

accepted into the Young Ambassadors programme of the education charity FILMCLUB. Inderpreet was invited by the charity to talk to Jennifer and Chris face to face about the film, which deals with the plight of children in Kenya fighting for an education.

Friends of Wanstead Parklands are inviting local residents on a walk around Wanstead Park to learn about its unique water system.

The five major lakes of Wanstead Park – The Basin, Shoulder of Mutton Pond, Heronry Pond, Perch Pond and The Ornamental

Waters – were laid out in the 1700’s and are all interconnected, ultimately flowing into the River Roding.

The walk starts at 10.30am on Sunday 12 June from the park entrance on Blake Hall Road. For more information call 020 8989 8534

Do you think the rapid advance of technology in the world of media has had an impact on the art of good journalism and writing? It has had a huge effect – and I don’t think anyone fully understands whether or not it is for the good. It puts journalists under great pressure.

In your opinion, do rolling 24 hour news channels sacrifice quality for quantity? It is a constant danger – the challenge of filling the space.

As a journalist, you have had to remain impartial and unbiased for many years. Following your retirement, do you now feel you have a lifetime of opinions to express? It is a bit like being let out of jail! But I haven’t suddenly run riot with my views. I still feel some responsibility and I don’t want to be seen as an opinion-former.

You were criticised in the press for not wearing a black tie when you announced the death of the Queen Mother in 2002. What are your memories of that broadcast? I was criticised in a small portion of the press. There were more complaints that day because the BBC moved an edition of Casualty to make way for the big obituary. My main memory is of being given so little warning of the impending announcement. Senior editorial figures were in the know, and kept the bulletin team in the dark until the last minute.

In 1989 you interviewed the Iranian ambassador following the Fatwa issued against Salman Rushdie. As a result, the death threat was extended to include you. Did you feel you had overstepped the mark by having an impact on events as opposed to just reporting them? Nothing as complicated as that. I was doing my job. Some fanatics didn’t like it – the concept of freedom of expression is totally alien to them.

You are somewhat critical of the BBC’s management style in the newsroom. Is this an issue which you feel hinders their news output? It must do. When morale is so low for most of the time, people can’t give their best.

You have also criticised the BBC’s one-sided coverage of climate change and emphasised the need for journalists to cover both sides of every story. Were your journalistic instincts restricted by BBC editorial policy? Not at all. I thought the BBC’s editorial policy was totally misguided. They tried to suppress the views of those scientists who disagreed with the alarmist orthodoxy. I did my best to get round that, and

Stories to tellHe went to school with several members of The Beatles, was shot in the legs during the Nigerian Civil War and had an Iranian Fatwa issued against him. Former newsreader Peter Sissons will be telling some interesting stories at Wanstead Library this month as he discusses his autobiography, When One Door Closes. Interview by Lee Marquis

Page 13: Wanstead Village Directory May 2011

May 2011 13

for a long time I was the only BBC frontman who challenged the BBC line. But I did so on journalistic grounds – since when was it the BBC’s role to stifle dissenting views on an issue of huge importance?

What changes would you like to see in the way the BBC prepares and edits the news? That would take another book!

In 1989 you were poached by the BBC from Channel Four News. Was the transition to public service broadcast a smooth one? No – as my book makes abundantly clear. My bosses at ITN were convinced I was poached principally to damage Channel Four News, which was becoming very successful. I think there was something in that.

You attended school in Liverpool with an array of talented individuals, including Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Was this a happy coincidence or a testament to how a good education can maximise a child’s potential? You’ve missed out George Harrison and Jimmy Tarbuck! My book is not just the story of my career – it’s all about social mobility. The boys that I went to school with, many from poor homes, were able to advance because the excellent education they had gave them the confidence to move upwards. All the current political talk of social mobility really annoys me. The reason kids don’t progress is that the appalling basic education that so many receive just doesn’t equip them to.

As a 26-year-old war reporter in Biafra you were shot in the legs, an incident which changed the course of your career. What other defining moments can you identify from your life? You can take your pick – there are plenty of such moments in the book. But being hired in the first place by ITN started it all. I am immensely proud that I was one of those given a job by Sir Geoffrey

Cox, ITN’s second editor, and probably the most influential figure in broadcast journalism.

Since retiring in 2009, have you in any way felt out of touch? Do you miss being one of the first to know about breaking news? I know enough about news, and the sources of news, to keep in touch. I don’t miss being part of the editorial sausage machine.

You are part of The Hillsborough inquiry panel, set up to study documents relating to the Hillsborough tragedy of 1989. Can you explain your role in this and how you became involved? I was approached by the then Home Secretary, Alan Johnson. It is a panel of many varied and appropriate talents. I am the media person.

What plans do you have for the future – will you remain a vocal media commentator, or do you now wish for a quieter life? I am not going to be a rent-a-quote on the media, but if I have anything worthwhile to say I will say it. I have given up my work in news broadcasting, but I will continue with my corporate work. If other challenges arise I’ve never been one to sit them out.

You will be appearing at Wanstead Library this month. What can we expect from this event? That’s up to my audience. I hope they can get to know me better, throw some tough questions at me – and maybe even have a bit of fun!

When One Door Closes, by Peter Sissons, is out now published by Biteback, £17.99. Peter will be speaking at Wanstead Library on Friday 27 May at 7.15pm. To book tickets visit www.redbridge.gov.uk/bam or call 020 8708 7400

The date for digital switchover in the capital and surrounding areas was announced last month by Digital UK, the

body leading the process. To mark the occasion, TV’s Christine Bleakley turned on a light show at Alexandra Palace, where the world’s first regular television service began in 1936.

Analogue and digital signals are simply different ways of encoding broadcast information. Analogue TV takes picture and sound information and converts them to a one dimensional wave. This contains timing and synchronisation information, so the receiver at the other end can reconstruct a two-dimensional moving image line by line – to construct a frame – and then frame by frame.

Digital TV takes the picture and sound and converts them to a series of numbers, and then back again. The beauty of digital signals is that there is less room for variation in their strength, so sound and picture quality should be better. Digital signals also take up less broadcast space, which means that after the switchover there will be more room for extra services, such as wireless broadband, high definition TV (HDTV) and local TV services.

Currently, TV signals can be received in a variety of ways: via an aerial, satellite, cable or broadband connection. The switchover affects all TVs which receive their signal via an aerial.

Aerials receive signals from one or more of 1,150 transmitters dotted around the UK. The transmitters are divided into 80 groups consisting of one main transmitter and several local relay transmitters. The groups are being switched over to digital one by one. The Crystal Palace transmitter group serves around 11,650,000 viewers in the London TV region, which extends far beyond the M25 into the home counties.

If you want to keep your service you firstly need to check your TV for the digital tick. This logo is found on all products designed to keep working after the switchover, though they may need to be retuned. If you don’t have a TV with a tick logo, don’t panic. You probably won’t need to buy a new

one because nearly all TVs can be converted using an inexpensive digital set-top box.

The Government has set up a digital switchover help scheme for people over 75 years of age; for those who are blind or partially sighted; for those who receive Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Attendance Allowance (AA); or for anyone who has been resident in a care home for more than six months. The help scheme will give assistance to convert one TV set, including equipment, installation and follow-up support. This help will be free to those on very low incomes, or available for a one-off £40 fee to all other eligible people.

So don’t miss out. Take action today and you’ll soon be going digital too.

London will switch to digital TV on 4 April 2012, marking the end of analogue TV in the city where it all began 75 years ago

Smile makeovers are the latest trend in cosmetic surgery and they are by far the easiest of cosmetic enhancements to

understand. We are all far more familiar with going to the dentist than we are going to a plastic surgeon and cosmetic improvements of our smiles are fast becoming the most popular cosmetic service requested today, even outstripping anti-wrinkle injections.

Whether it be a simple clean and polish, invisible orthodontic braces for teeth straightening, implants to replace missing teeth or veneers to resurface them with a vibrant fresh enamel, a smile makeover to one person may mean something completely different to another. Individual choice and custom treatment planning means just about anything is possible to improve your smile.

For many, porcelain laminate ceramic veneers are currently the ideal choice for improving your smile. They have the ability to dramatically enhance the natural beauty within your face like no other cosmetic treatment can. A beautiful open smile shines like a beacon in a room of even the most uber-chic, collagen inflated pouts. Have you ever wondered why some of the most famous pouters never smile? Just take a look at their teeth!

So what are veneers? Essentially they are thin shells of ceramic artificial enamel custom designed and manufactured to fit precisely over prepared teeth. A veneer laminates a tooth with a new surface designed to improve its appearance. A ‘smile makeover’ involves designing a matching set of veneers over all the ‘smiling’ teeth.

How long does this treatment take? The process begins with designing a new smile for you based on models of your teeth. Your teeth can then be made to look whiter and straighter to improve your appearance in just a matter of weeks, or even days. Occasionally, preliminary dental procedures may be required before hand.

How long do veneers last? It’s often said that veneers only last for 10 to 15 years. This is an unfortunate, but popular, misinterpretation of results from a dental study which ran for a limited number of years measuring how many veneers placed in American teaching institutes survived over that period. In actual fact, porcelain ceramics keep their glossy surface indefinitely. Had the study run for 30 years the ill informed might well be quoting that figure instead for the longevity of veneers.

Keep Smiling‘Smile Makeover’ is a term often seen adorning the back pages of many glossy magazines. But what exactly does it mean? Dr Tasleem Ahmed, from Longwood House Dental Clinic, answers the common questions

Page 25: Wanstead Village Directory May 2011

May 2011 25

We already know that ancient artefacts made of porcelain and other ceramics still exist in near pristine condition in museums throughout the world thousands of years after they were first made. Why? Because they have been looked after. The same applies to ceramic veneers. In ideal conditions there is no reason to believe veneers could not last a lifetime. The best guide to how well an individual’s veneers will last is to look at the how well they cared for their own natural teeth.

Veneers will therefore last for as long as you look after them, particularly if they are well designed, manufactured, fitted and balanced by a competent dentist to work in harmony with the way you chew.

What does having veneers involve? Following the design instructions of your dentist, both the look and function of the veneers is then crafted by highly skilled lab technicians, who often specialise solely in the art of producing ceramic veneers. However, porcelain veneers do require exacting preparation and fitting techniques. When choosing a cosmetic dentist it’s a good idea to ask to see a portfolio of their work. Often they will have cases similar to yours of satisfied clients who have given permission to have their cases used to educate potential new clients.

Case StudyKate’s Smile Makeover by Dr Raj Ahlowalia

Kate’s teeth and smile were damaged with a condition called bruxism – a habitual unconscious grinding of the teeth. Kate’s teeth were restored using six finely balanced Lithium Disilicate ceramic veneers. A custom made ‘bite splint’ – a hard acrylic device that looks like a gum shield – was also provided which protects her new smile from the action of her nighttime grinding and also helps to eliminate many of the symptoms, such as headaches, which bruxists suffer from.

Who are you?Philosophist Julian Baggini will be asking the question ‘what and who is the real you?’ at Wanstead Library this month. To help you prepare your answers, Professor AC Grayling, of Birkbeck College, University of London, reviews Baggini’s latest book, The Ego Trick

The British comedian and actor Kenneth Williams reported that he was once approached by a fan who, delighted to

encounter him in Regent’s Park, cried, “Oh! You know who you are!” Williams said that he only wished he did.

The problem of self-understanding is a perennial one. But even before you tackle it there is a prior problem: making sense of selfhood itself. What is a “self”? Given that we change physically and psychologically throughout life, what is it that somehow makes us remain the same person in spite of those changes? If I borrowed money from you 20 years ago, and in the interval much happened that drastically altered me, surely I still owe you that money nonetheless?

In this entertaining, educative and gracefully written book, Julian Baggini explores the question of the nature of the self and in what sense it persists through time. Ever since the philosopher John Locke devoted a chapter to the problem in the second edition of his An Essay Concerning Human Understanding in 1692, these questions have been central to much philosophical enquiry.

But, as Baggini shows, they are not “merely” philosophical questions. Psychology, neurology,

gender issues, brain tumours, head injuries and dementia, multiple personality, memory, social construction of personae, ideas about souls, reincarnation and the afterlife – all these are in some way relevant to the debate and Baggini considers them in pursuit of clarification, arguing that there are, indeed, answers to be found.

First, he offers some negative answers. There is no single thing or part of you that is essentially you, he says; your brain, body and memories all play a part in constructing you but there is no one thing – a particular structure in the brain, for example, that is the seat of personal identity.

Moreover, there is no such thing as an immaterial soul, upon which most of the religions rely. “Whatever stuff you are made from,” he writes, “is the same kind of stuff that everything else is made of.”

The unity that is you, constructed from the interplay of various physical and psychological factors, is in some ways very fragile and in other ways robust. Although a brain tumour can destroy the self, much else can happen to people – grief, disaster and other life-transforming experiences – and they can still recognisably be the same people afterwards.

Page 33: Wanstead Village Directory May 2011

Please mention the Wanstead Village Directory when responding to adverts

May 2011 33

But to say that we are essentially “unified material constructions” still leaves three problems, indicated by each of the words in this formulation. What do we mean by them? In the most philosophical of the chapters, Baggini sets out the answers.

Two of the problems can be dealt with simultaneously: the question of the unity of the self is answered by understanding how the self is constructed. Baggini follows philosopher Derek Parfit in describing the unity of the self as being achieved by a trick – the “ego trick” of his book’s title – namely, that of constructing a strong sense of connectedness and continuity out of the memories and fragmented experiences in a brain with no overall command centre. And the trick, he says, works.

This links to an answer to the third problem, which Baggini puts by saying that “we are no more than, but we are not just, matter” – by which he means that we cannot describe selves adequately with only the vocabulary of physical stuff but need to invoke psychological concepts too. Thoughts and feelings are real things, though they are not describable in physical terms. But the universe only contains physical things. Therefore, says Baggini, we must accept that thoughts and feelings emerge from (perhaps one could say, are secreted by) the physical stuff from which brains are made. Or to put it another way: your mind is not your brain, it is what your brain does.

In effect, Baggini holds that the different suggestions about how to think of personal identity over time – as consisting in a memory criterion, or a continuous-body criterion, or a more traditional selfhood criterion – each captures part of the truth, and each helps to constitute the whole truth. In a way that is sometimes typical of philosophical debate, one or other of these criteria has been often insisted upon as the ultimate

explanation; but a wise syncretism recognises that we use different criteria for different purposes, and a permutation of all of them for most purposes.

There is, though, one interesting function of brain activity that might serve as a candidate for selfhood or the closest we can get to such a thing. This is the “narrative” function performed by the left cerebral hemisphere, where human language capacity is hard-wired. If this is how Baggini’s “trick” is performed – by our fashioning an autobiography for ourselves – then it seems less like a trick than the real thing. At least, it would be close enough to the real thing to be a very satisfactory substitute.

This is one of the best, most readable and most stimulating introductions yet written about this intriguing topic. Enjoy, and profit.

The most important thing to note, if you’re new to basket-planting, is that size really does matter. For a good basket you’ll

need the minimum of a 35cm size wire frame type. This will have a depth of 15cm which allows for lots of compost and means that the basket won’t dry out quickly. You can also plant through the sides to give that really luxuriant, over-flowing look.

Second, for a really showy basket, you will almost certainly need twice as many plants as you think you will. For each wire basket plan to use at least two strips (that’s sixteen little plants) of something like Lobelia or Bidens; two upright plants for the centre top of the basket – small upright fuchsias or geraniums work well; four small bushy flowers like Busy Lizzies or petunias, for round the top edge of the basket; and three or four trailing plants – geraniums and trailing petunias would be perfect.

This planting ‘recipe’ can be altered to suit your own tastes. For instance, I sometimes like to swap a couple of the trailing flowers for trailing foliage plants, such as Lysimachia nummularia or small leaved ivies.

Line the basket with moss raked from your lawn (though not if you’ve used a weed killer) or a proprietary liner. I prefer the liners because our garden birds steal the moss and my plants begin to fall out after a while.

You’ll need about 10 litres of compost. Mix it with water retaining granules for best results. Soak the plants really well, then when you remove the little plants from their trays you can give the root balls a good squeeze so they will be small enough to poke through the holes in the wire frame of the basket.

Build the basket up in three tiers, adding more compost as each tier is planted. The best way to do

this is to stand the basket on a large plant pot for stability.

Once planted, you can stand it in a sheltered area for a week or so if the frosts aren’t quite finished, otherwise you can hang it straight up. Make sure your brackets are sturdy and secure, or your beautiful basket might end up in a crumpled mess on the floor.

Keep it watered and feed it once a week, as all those plants crammed into a tiny space deplete the nutrients in the compost very quickly.

Finally, sit back and enjoy being the object of neighbourhood basket-envy.

Hanging basket know-howHave you ever gazed in admiration at a neighbour’s glorious hanging basket and wondered why yours doesn’t measure up? They can be things of abundant beauty, but often they are too sparsely planted or worse, look like abandoned birds nests

In 1979 you became the UK snooker champion despite forfeiting two frames. What happened? The start time was different that night so I was late for the final session.

You are famous for your extravagant waistcoats – where did that fascination come from? Alex Higgins wore one on Big Break and it seemed like a good idea to brighten up the trick shot section of the show.

Do the players of today provide you with any new material for your impressions? The old players were more distinctive.

Do you remain in contact with Jim Davidson and did you get to see his touring show before it was cancelled earlier this year? Not as often as I would like and unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to see the show.

Do you think a good snooker player makes a good trick shot artist and visa versa? Difficult to say, but skill is required on most of the trick shots.

British players seem to dominate snooker. How does the sport stand on the world stage in terms of international participation? China looks to be the emerging nation.

How would you summarise the contribution Alex Higgins made to the sport? He made snooker exciting.

What are your thoughts on timed snooker tournaments? As a one off, I don’t mind them.

Can you explain how Higgins was different from most other professional players? His mannerism around the table was unique.

Alex Higgins once threatened to have fellow snooker player Dennis Taylor shot. Why? Typical Alex – he was a bad loser!

In writing the biography, did you uncover anything about Higgins that really stood out? Things that seemed outrageous at the time, now, looking back, make you smile.

Higgins received numerous bans and fines from the snooker authorities during his career. Was ‘all publicity good publicity’ or do you think those incidents were detrimental to the sport? I’m on the fence with this one.

Is there anyone or anything else that you would like to write about? I would love to write about my other passion – horse racing.

Let Me Tell You About Alex, by John Virgo, is out now published by John Blake Publishing, £17.99. John will be speaking at Wanstead Library on Tuesday 10 May at 7.15pm. To book tickets call 020 8708 7400 or visit www.redbridge.gov.uk/bam

No Trick QuesTioNsAhead of his appearance at Wanstead Library this month, trick shot master and former professional snooker player John Virgo answers a few quick fire questions about himself and his recently published biography of Alex ‘Hurricane’ Higgins. Interview by Lee Marquis

Californian blogger Dave Bruno wrote The 100 Thing Challenge. He set himself the year-long experimental task of reducing

his belongings to 100 items. Amazingly, once his self-imposed year was up he kept living by his new rules, citing a desire to fight American style consumerism and live a life of simplicity.

I’m not suggesting we all follow Bruno’s lead, but he has a point. Most of us put far too much time, effort and money into acquiring, keeping and storing possessions. Sometimes it’s good to let go.

If you’re ready to de-clutter, then we have a few simple tips. If you feel you need help, there are experts in de-cluttering who will guide you through the process of letting go. Follow these small steps and you too can de-clutter your life.

z Deal with one room at a time and stick with that room until it’s finished.

z Choose a nice day and take the room contents outside. Psychologically it’s easier to sort and let go if you’re one step removed. It’s also less likely that the clutter will make it back inside.

z Sort everything into three piles and label them ‘dump’, ‘donate’ and ‘keep’. Be realistic: if the item in question hasn’t been used for over a year it is unlikely you will ever use it again.

z Deal with the dump and donate piles and do this before anything comes back into the house. It’s much harder to mess up your good work if the stuff is physically gone.

z Sort, label and place the remaining items in clearly labelled boxes. Make sure there is one temporary box to house items which really belong in another room. As each room is sorted those items can be replaced and other misplaced items can be housed there while the de-cluttering process continues.

z Replace everything that remains. The maxim ‘a place for everything and everything in its place’ is a good one. House small items in clear plastic boxes and store them in cupboards or wardrobes.

z Now you’re done, it’s time to instigate a ‘one thing in, one thing out’ rule. It will make you think twice about acquiring something new if you know something else has to go.

z Finally, once a week, take two bags and go through your home. One bag is for rubbish, the other for items in the wrong place. When you’ve finished, throw the rubbish away and replace the misplaced items.

Live with lessIf you can’t find certain items quickly because they’re buried under piles of junk, or if you find yourself thinking “I can’t throw this away, it might come in useful one day,” then you’re probably a clutter victim

This month in 1961...On 1st May 1961 the Betting and Gaming Act came into force, and the first betting shops opened in the UK. Unfortunately, loopholes in the law meant that anyone could open a betting shop or casino and many became a cover for criminal activity. So, in 1970 the Government legislated again, creating a new Gaming Act which tightened restrictions considerably.

Green, is a beautiful old

pub and probably one of

east London’s best kept

secrets. The Mob’s Hole area

– as Nightingale Green was

formerly known – dates back

to the 1700’s.

Run by Lucy & Noel McMahon

and a first class team of

staff, The Nightingale is

famous for its extensive and

constantly rotating range of

cask-conditioned ales from

all over the UK (CAMRA Good

Beer & Good Food Guide, Cask

Marque and Beautiful Beers

accreditations).

There is an extensive range of

homemade food available 7

days a week including our big

all day breakfast, a quiz night

every Tuesday at 8.30pm and a

traditional Irish music session

every Wednesday at 8.30pm

(no admission fees, just come

along and enjoy the gig).

An extensive wine list is

available by the glass, bottle

or smaller one server bottles

and up to 50 malt whiskies

are available at any one time.

The Nightingale also serves

as a meeting venue for the

Wanstead Society, Friends of

the Earth, Wanstead Writers

Association, Rotary Club,

Wanstead Rugby Club and

Eton Manor Rugby Club.
