We ask parents to re- frain from parking in the spaces at drop off and pick up times as it encourages students to walk through the parked cars and at times they run out from between and dont look for approaching cars. This makes it a very un- safe practise and increases the chances of a terrible accident occurring. We look forward to your support in man- aging this situation. Curriculum Days- STUDENT FREE DAYS- Friday 23 rd March and Tuesday 24 th April This Friday 23 rd of March the Warranwood teachers will be working alongside the staff from Croydon PS to en- gage in professional learning about teaching mathematics. The workshop will present staff with best practice ap- proaches and knowledge about numeration and computation skills. Staff will engage in practical activities that will focus on the development of maths concepts and processes and importantly the sequences of development that best produce student understanding. As mentioned two weeks ago we will be holding our last Student Free Curriculum Day on Tuesday 24 th of April in Term 2. This will allow our entire staff to work with the Positive Education Institute in Building Positive Education Teaching Practices. The implementation of this framework will extend and enrich the work previously completed with the Resilience Project and will be far broader in its assimilation to teacher/ student/parent and community relationships and support positive mental health cultural practices and importantly resilient learning habits. At Mondays assembly our House Captains performed a mini play to highlight the importance of students taking risks with their learning and especially in asking questions to clarify. I was really proud to see them zero in on the role class peers play in creating the type of learning culture we want here at Warranwood. Body language, active listening with supportive and accepting gestures and actions are essential in building positive risk takers and great learners. Please discuss with your child how they can take positive risks with their learning and how they can encourage others to become positive risk takers with their learning too. GARDEN CLUB Our garden club will meet next week on Wednesday 28th March 9-11. Come along and meet some other keen gardeners and make a difference to our school gardens. Assistant Principal Report 3/4 Swimming Congratulations to staff and students for a terrific week of swimming. Our 3/4 students have been swimming each day this week (and next Monday) to develop their swimming skills at Croydon’s Aquahub. Being able to swim is an essential life-saving skill and these sessions aim to improve students’ confidence in the water as well as develop specific swimming strokes and life-saving techniques when in the water. Of course de-veloping organisational skills and working together with different groups of peers is also a valuable part of these swim- ming ses-sions.

Easter Hat Day

On Wednesday 28th of March, the SRC will be hosting an Easter Hat Day. Students are encouraged to make a creative Easter Hat and bring a gold coin donation. All money raised will be donated to the Royal Children’s Hospital and a cheque will be pre-sented at the Good Friday Appeal.

Planning Week Our teaching teams have been working collectively to plan exciting units of work in all curriculum areas for Term 2. On these days the students visit their specialist classes in one day rather than across the week to facilitate time for each team to work together to provide a rich and engaging curriculum for their students.

Check Mate BBQ Congratulations to the Chess Club on a successful sausage sizzle which was held to raise money to buy equip- ment and enter stu-dents into interschool compe-titions. We look forward to hearing all about your upcoming suc- cesses!

Farewell to Sanaz
