Chair, Professional Sports Advisory Panel, Office of the President 2005 – Present

● Formally appointed—under NCAA rules—by University President to serve as Chair of school-wide

advisory panel serving student-athletes that have an opportunity to pursue a career in professional

athletics—with a particular emphasis on assisting the football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball,

men’s soccer and men’s ice hockey teams. Have been serving in this capacity unofficially on campus

since 1992.

● Serve as a primary liaison between student-athletes, Department of Athletics, professional sports

leagues, and players’ associations in educating student-athletes on making the transition from college

to professional sports.

● Assist student-athletes in their decision on whether they should declare early (forgo NCAA eligibility)

for a professional draft by gathering information from league experts on their likely draft status.

● Appointed in the summer of 2010 by the University President as the school’s sole representative able

to work with the student-athletes on evaluating, and if necessary, obtaining disability insurance through

the NCAA’s “Exceptional Student-Athlete Disability Insurance Program.”

● Serve as an expert in helping student-athletes and their families screen and interview potential legal

representation to serve as agents and/or financial advisors. Negotiate deals and draft contracts with

agents, financial planners and marketing experts on behalf of student-athletes. ● Maintain ongoing relationships with almost 100 former student-athletes that have gone professional in

a variety of sports, to ensure that as their professional career progresses, and finishes, they continue to
