Stig-Ove Sivertsen jobber hovedsaklig med akvarell, gjerne i store formater. Utrykket varierer fra det rent figurative til mer abstrakte former og landskap. Akvarellene blitt ofte til gjennom et ekspressivt forløp hvor det ene valget fører til det andre. Komposisjon og motiv, bruk av pigmenter og vann er ofte preget av uro og brudd med ”etablerte akvarellteknikker”. Målet er å skape et inntrykk av en rå og nesten slurvete eleganse i det ferdige maleriet.Til ettertanke – ting ligner, men ikke helt.
