Veterans’ Hospital patients and 2 volunteers will spend Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Little Manatee River State Park from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. horseback riding, canoeing and enjoying tasty sandwiches, salads, and cool drinks. The fun day will begin at 10:00 a.m. with horseback riding through the park, followed by canoeing and a traditional picnic lunch at noon. Additional horseback riding and canoeing for those who didn’t get enough the first round will continue until 3:00 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wolfe, owners of Wolfe’s Born to Ride, support the armed forces in any way possible. Robert Wolfe is a former airborne engineer with the 801st and Kathy Wolfe is what some would call an Army brat, as her father served in the US Army and is a Vietnam Veteran. The Wolfe’s donated the full day of horseback riding and coordinated the additional donated services of Canoe Outpost, Little Manatee River State Park, PJ’s Sandwich Shop, Beef O’Brady’s Parrish and Butterfield’s Restaurant. “These men and women deserve our appreciation for their service to our country in any way we can offer it,” said Kathy Wolfe, owner of Wolfe’s Born to Ride. “We jumped at the opportunity to provide them with a day of relaxation, beautiful scenery, and to show our thanks.” If you are interested in volunteering for the day, donating services, or just wish to see and thank these heroes, contact Kathy Wolfe at 941-812-1980 for additional details.
