In this type of question you are being asked to summarise the key points in the passage.

These questions are usually found towards the end and are worth a lot of marks.

How to answer

• You must use your own words.

• You get no marks for quoting.

• You should use bullet points instead of writing in paragraphs.

• Think of each bullet point as being worth one mark.

Practice question- “Screening out the downside to technology”

8. Consider the passage as a whole and then, using your own words as far as possible, summarise the key points the writer makes about the benefits and disadvantages of technology (6 marks).
