Aidan Strain has been in business since 1977, initially as commercial,industrial and domestic electrical contractors working throughout the UKand Ireland.

In 1993 an electrical wholesale outlet was established on the premisesand remains a well known and established business serving localcontractors, businesses and factories. In 1995 the range of contractingactivities was broadened to include mechanical engineering as thebusiness continued to expand in the UK and Europe.

These individual enterprises were amalgamated to form ASEE Ltd. in2000 and since then that company has maintained a considerablepresence in the UK and Europe, both as generator installers and indelivering Mechanical and Electrical contracts which include:-

The company centres on a nucleus of 45 staff with additional resourcesemployed as necessary to service particular project requirements manyof which have peaked at around 160 personnel throughout the years.

The engineering company has satellite offices in London and Germany,whilst still maintaining its head office base outside Newry, NorthernIreland.

We recognise the importance of being adaptable to the needs of ourclients. We are a privately owned company and our independent statusmeans we are not part of a group or holding company that could restrictour participation.

Scope: Full electrical installation of multiplelarge data halls from 1000msq to 3000msq.Our scope included the installation of all HV,LV, Busbar, Containment, Lighting, SmallPower, Generators control cables and BMSinstallation.

Scope: Installation of 2 x 1650 kVA back uppower generators in basement completewith fuel transfer pipe work, attenuation,acoustic walls and associated electricalwork.

Berkshire Data CentreBerkshire, UK

Scope: Installation of 6 x 3.0 MVAgenerators complete with all associated fueltanks and transfer pipe work.

2 x 80,000L double skinned above groundbulk storage tanks, manufactured to BS799Part 5, with fuel polishing facilities and leakdetection provided.6 x 4000L double skinned generator daytanks, manufactured to BS799 Part 5, withleak detection provided.2 x bunded pump kiosks with duty/standbypumps, fuel control panel and leakdetection.We installed a double skinned fully weldedfuel transfer system with leak detectionmonitoring.2 x roller shutter door fill points completewith fuel meters, high level alarm units andfuel capacity gauges. We installed a fully welded water coolingsystem for 6 generators extending toflow/return/fill/vent lines for the enginejacket and flow/return/fill/vent lines for theafter cooler from each generator to theremote radiators. All welds were subject to 10% NoneDestructive Testing (NDT).

We also installed all associated generatorcontrol cables, attenuation andexhausts/flues.

Canary Wharf Data CentreLondon, UK.

Scope: Installation of 3 x 2.0 MVA roofmounted containerised generators,including fuel transfer pipe work andinstallation of all associated generatorcontrol cables.

Skondal Data CentreStockholm, Sweden.

Scope: Installation of a fully welded fuelsystem with over spill line and 2 x13,000L double skinned above groundbulk storage tanks with leak detectionprovided.

ASEE also provided and installed a dualpump system housed in a stand alonekiosk, suitable for external temperaturesof -20 degC.

All interconnecting control cablingbetween the fuel system and thegenerators was also included in ourscope.

2 x pump skids comprising of aduty/standby system.

Installed a below ground plastic pipe in pipefuel system with leak detection monitoring.2 x fill points complete high level alarmunits and fuel capacity gauges.

Scope: Installation of 3 x 3.75 MVAgenerators in basement over 2 phases. Siteconstruct 103,000 L double skin fuel tank inbasement. Installation of roof mountedcooling radiators. Installation of c500mcooling pipe work over 12 levels betweenthe roof & basement.

Scope: Installation of 10 x 2.3 MVA HVGenerator sets, associated HV switchgearand 380,000 L bulk fuel storage tanksmanufactured to EN12285. (All storagetanks underground)

Scope: Full electrical installation of 1 large3,000msq data hall. Our scope includedinstallation of all HV, LV, busbar,containment, lighting, small power,generator control cables, BMS / EMS, firealarm, leak detection, UPS cabling, earthingand lighting protection.

Scope: Installation of 3 x 500 kVAcontainerised generators, associated fuelpipe work and generator control cables.

Gibraltar Data CentreGibraltar, UK

Scope: Installation of 2 x containerised500kVA generators, a double skinned fullywelded fuel balancing system with leakdetection monitoring and 1 x fill cabinet withhigh level alarm unit. We also installed allassociated generator control cables.

Hampshire Data CentrePortsmouth, Hampshire, UK

Scope: Removal of existing services andreplacement chiller installation. We alsocarried out the installation of new high levelcable containment system and replacedchiller supply cables.

HV Installations

ASEE has been carrying outHV Installations since 1990's.Our personnel are competentand certified to install, gland,switch, test & commission upto 11 Kv. We provide thefollowing HV services :-

Cable Containment Systems

Lighting

ASEE has been installinglighting systems for over 30years. From internal lightingtracks to external lighting wehave the expertise.We also has the capability todetermine your lighting requirements during the design stage of a project.

Switch Gear & UPS Installations

Busbar Installations

We provide a full busbarinstallation service, offeringinput into the design phase,delivery & installation coveringthe full range from 25 Amplighting busbar to 4000 Ampdistribution busbar. This is complemented with fullsystem testing & commissioning ready for client handover. IT, Data, Fibre & BMS / EMS Installations

We supply & installinstrumentation in industrialplant and process contexts,with particular reference tointrinsically safe work inhazardous environments andprogrammable logic controller (PLC) computer interfaces.

ASEE provide data installation services including CAT5E/6 cabling, patch panels, patch cabling, Data / Voicecabinets and active equipment such as switches, hubs,etc. We also offer full infrastructure cable testing. Wesupply and install fibre optic cabling with all splicing andtermination options.

We also offer OTDR (Optical Time DomainReflectometer) and power-loss measurement testingfor optical networks.

We carry out full BMS / EMS installations andundertake all specialist cable containmentrequirements.

Testing

ASEE can provide electricaltesting & certification on allworks to the current standardsas published, for example inthe IEE wiring regulations,Irish ET101 and EuropeanHarmonised Standards. All our testing equipment ismaintained to the highest standard and our testingteams have a wealth of knowledge & expertise. Wealso offer periodic testing inspections to satisfystatutory requirements for entire electrical installations,including petrol forecourts.

Data Centre Fit-Out & Facility Management

We currently manage anumber of data centre facilitiesin the Greater London area.Our Facilities Managementteams work closely with clientneeds to effect day to dayalterations and additions to server cabinets and dataracks as well as ongoing maintenance to existingequipment. Fuel Tank Fabrication & Installation

ASEE supply & install bespoketanks, primarily for the bulkstorage of fuel. We design,manufacture, install andcommission our own tanks. Alltanks are constructed to theappropriate BS or EN standard, for example BS 799Type J or K for rectangular double skin tanks orcylindrical tanks generally to EN 12285-1 made fromsteel plate to BS EN 10025:2004:S275. Tanks can bebuilt off site & lifted into final position, or wherenecessary we can carry out a safe compliant site buildinstallation. With over 20 years in this sector we havethe knowledge and experience to deliver a product thatwill meet all regulations, providing that peace of mind.

Fuel Pipe Work Fabrication

ASEE design, manufacture,install, test and commissionbespoke fuel transfer pipework to suit your needs. Withthe ability to manufacture bulkpipe deliveries off site andcarry out bespoke on site installations, we have theexperience to deliver a sound and safe pipe transfersystem. All fabrications and installations are carried outin line with all relevant standards and regulations. Wealso offer plastic pipe in pipe systems for undergroundfuel transfer with leak detection monitoring fitted asstandard.

Steel Support and Bracketry Fabrication

From basic bracketry tocomplex structural steelsystems, we have theexperience. We have beenmanufacturing & installing steelframe support systems for over15 years.

Flues & Exhaust Systems

ASEE design, fabricate, installand commission bespoke andmodular flue and exhaustsystems to suit your needs. Weprovide all required certifiedperformance data to EN13384-1 and all installations are carried out in line withISO 9001:2000. Our installations are tested andcertified to BS EN 1836-1 and generally to BS EN 1443.

Ventilation & Attenuation

Ventilation and attenuationcan be designed, installed andtested based on the clientsneeds. With noise pollutionbecoming a greater issue, weunderstand your needs tomaintain controlled noise levels. We work inconjunction with local authorities and industryspecialists to ensure compliance is achieved forexternal dB readings.

Air Start Systems

Our typical air start systemcomprises of electric DCdriven compressors, airstarting motor, air receiver,safety pressure valvesconnected up with schedule80 pipe & fittings. We have been installing air start systems for over 20 years.

Cooling Systems

ASEE install remote coolingsystems complete withinterconnecting pipework. Wealso install heat exchangerunits, cooling pumps,secondary & primary coolingcircuits, all ancillary valves, gauging, testing andcommissioning. This is followed up with dedicated testrecords and certificates including pneumatic andhydraulic water flushing samples.

Maintenance Response Team

Our Maintenance responseteams are availablethroughout the UK to respondto your needs. We maintain afleet and fully serviced vans toprovide a rapid responsethroughout the UK

Mechanical Testing

Where required to carry outmechanical testing ASEEundertake to provide thefollowing mechanical testingservices prior to handing aproject back to the client.Hydraulic & pneumatic testing & certification of all fluidtransfer pipe work, such as cooling circuits, fuel transferpipe work and any other process pipe work.

Pneumatic testing & certification of bulk storage tanks,such as bulk fuel storage tanks. Pressure testing of flueand attenuation systems. Weld testing on mechanicaltransfer pipe work & storage tanks. Diesel qualitytesting. Fuel system integrity inspection.

Mechanical installation and testing is carried out inaccordance with BS 5410-2 and in compliance withDEFRA. Painting and identification is carried out inaccordance to BS 1710.
