The Holy Family In the ambience of joy that is typical of Christmas, we celebrate this Sunday; the Feast of the Holy Family, Joseph, Mary, and Jesus. The family of Nazareth brings us the light of hope, Luke says: “The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon Him” The family nucleus of Je-sus, Mary and Joseph is for every believer, and especially for families, an authentic lesson of the Gospel. Here we admire the fulfillment of the divine plan to make the family a special community of life and love. Here we learn that every Christian family nucleus is called to be a domestic church, to make evangelical virtues shine and become a ferment of good in soci-ety. One of the typical features of the Sagrada Familia are: gathering and prayer, mutual under-standing and respect, spirit of sacrifice, work, and solidarity. From the example and testimony of the Holy Family, our families can draw precious aid for lifestyle and life choices, and they can draw strength and wisdom for our daily journey. The true joy experienced in the family is not a casual and fortuitous thing. It is a joy that is the fruit of deep harmony among people, which makes us like the beauty of being together, of sustaining each other on the path of life, and that is always linked to the presence of God, his welcoming and merciful love. If the family's door to God's presence and love is not opened, the family loses harmony, indi-vidualisms prevail, and joy is extinguished. On the other hand, the family that lives the joy, the joy of life, the joy of faith, communicates it spontaneously, is salt of the earth and light of the world, is yeast for the whole society. Luke speaks to us in the gospel of two older people, Simeon and Anne who were in the tem-ple waiting to see the Messiah one day. They were waiting for its end, but they hoped that before they left, they would see the Messiah. Hope is the true elixir of our faith, in it we put our lives before God to guide us in our walk; "while there is life there is hope"; but even truer is the opposite: "while there is hope there is life." I invite you to look at the center of your family, how you communicate, if there is mutual respect, if there is humility, if there is understanding, if there is tenderness and if there is peace. Let us im-itate the family of Nazareth and put our hope in that God who became human with the name of Je-sus to give us all his love, tenderness, and mercy. Live the family, live the domestic church! Deacon Gustavo

ZOOM MEETING DISCUSSION ON FRATELLI TUTTI As you know, on Oct 4, the Feast Day of St. Francis, our Holy Father issued the new encycli-cal called Fratelli Tutti– All Brothers. The encyclical calls us to love and care for one another as a human family. There are 8 chapters in the encyclical. We, Church of the Good Shepherd, are going to open an online forum to read and discuss this papal letter via the ZOOM Meeting format. We will meet once a week on Thursdays at 7pm. Here is the ZOOM link: https://zoom.us/j/98655845021?pwd=UnhxT2V0Vjh4VHRLczhKbGpwUUF6QT09 There is no need to register for the forum. Make sure you read the encyclical. Out of three bids for the front black iron fence that we sent to the Diocese, they chose and ap-proved the following option. Our hope is to get this fence built as soon as possible for the pro-tection of our church properties. We would like to ask if you can help us with any $$$ amount so we can get this project done. Thank you so much. WE ALSO WISH TO THANK AN ANONYMOUS DONOR WHO GAVE US $7,500 FOR THIS PURPOSE! God is good, all the time!
