Read Firefighter Dellingers story This last summer I was riding my bike and wearing my helmet of course! It was still daylight out and I was riding inside the bike lane. A car driving very fast drove into the bike lane and hit the back of my bike. I flew off my bike and landed 40 feet from where the car hit my bike. I remember flying in the air doing several flips before I hit the hard ground. The fire department checked to see where I was hurt. I was put on a bed with wheels and wheeled into an ambulance. I was taken to the hospital where I stayed as a patient for many days. My bike helmet was cracked in half. If I hadn’t been wearing my helmet, the crack would have been my head and my brain would have been injured. The doctors in the hospital said the helmet saved my life. Somehow, I came through with no broken bones or serious injuries. My bicycle and helmet were not so lucky. As a firefighter, I know how important it is to protect my head from being hurt. I protect my head by wearing a fire helmet at work when I fight fires and I always wear a bike helmet when I ride my bike. Read Firefighter Dellinger‛s storyThis last summer I was riding my bike and wearing my helmet of course! It was still daylight out and I was riding inside the bike lane. A car driving very fast drove into the bike lane and hit the back of my bike. I flew off my bike and landed 40 feet from where the car hit my bike. I remember flying in the air doing several flips before I hit the hard ground. The fire department checked to see

where I was hurt.
