General information ICON Options ICON_BUT_xxx (106858).Millennium will allow ICON_ options for all BUT_ options, enabling much greater flexibility in WebPAC interface customization. It should ensure that every image can have an appropriate ALT text equivalent for accessibility.ICON_ Web options use the following naming convention: ICON_BUT_[name].

Advanced Searching Options

If your organization has the Advanced Search feature, you can use the following options.

AVS_MODIFY_TAGThis option specifies which search help page the "Modify Search" link points to. This option accepts the same settings as the AVS_TAG option to determine the pointer. For example:AVS_MODIFY_TAG=XIn this example, the setting points the "Modify Search" link to the srchhelp_X.html page.AVS_RELEVANCE_FORMATThis option controls how the WebPac displays the relevance ranking for items in a browse list when the user has chosen to sort the results by relevance in an Advanced Search. When set to 1, each item's relevance appears as a percentage, 1% to 100%, indicating how closely the particular item matches the user's search target. If this option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file, or it is set to any value other than 1, each item's relevance appears using one of the five graphic files, avsstar1.gif through avsstar5.gif, stored in the /screens directory. These graphic files contain pictures of one to five stars, corresponding to the following ranks:

GRAPHIC FILE # of stars Relevance Rank

avsstar1.gif 1 1% to 20%

avsstar2.gif 2 21% to 40%

avsstar3.gif 3 41% to 60%

avsstar4.gif 4 61% to 80%

avsstar5.gif 5 81% to 100%

You can specify different GIFs for the five files listed above with the IMAGE_AVS# options.

Page 6: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

AVS_SINGLE_WILDCARD

For Method I searching only, this option controls whether wildcarding is two-tiered or not. If set to false, a single asterisk matches a maximum of five characters (e.g., defens* matches defense and defensible, but not defensibility) whereas double asterisks match any number of characters (e.g., defens** matches defensibility). If set to true (the default), a single asterisk matches any number of characters (e.g., defens* matches defense, defensible, and defensibility).

The AVS_SINGLE_WILDCARD Web option has no effect on Method II searching. In Method II, a single asterisk always matches any number of characters.

See Advanced Word Searching #105367 in the Innovative Guide and Reference for more information on the two Advanced Searching methods.

AVS_TAGThis option specifies the index tag(s) for which the WebPac provides special Advanced Search features. There must be a Search Help page in the /screens directory for each tag included in this list. Typically, these pages are for the 'X', 'Y', and 'Z' indexes, that is, srchhelp_X.html, srchhelp_Y.html, and srchhelp_Z.html. For example: AVS_TAG=XYZIf your organization has the Advanced Search feature, Innovative sets this option to an appropriate value and tells you which tags apply to this feature. If this option does not exist in the WEB OPTIONS file or has a blank value, no Advanced Searching is available.RELSEARCH[_lang]This option defines the location and text of the "Related Searches" message in the WebPac. The option format is: RELSEARCH=<location>|<text>|<formatting>

Element Description

<location> The location of the text message defined in this option.

searchtool — places the text in the search tool.restable — places the text in the resource table.

<text> The text displayed for the "related searches" message. This element accepts HTML. This element is optional.

<formatting> Defines the formatting for the results links in the "related searches" message. This element is optional. If not defined, WebPac does not apply special formatting to the links. If used, this field must include a %s code that the actual link replaces. For example:

<SPAN CLASS="relsearchLink">%s</SPAN>

In this example, the "relsearchLink" style applies to the results link.

For example: RELSEARCH=searchtool|<SPAN CLASS="relsearchText">Related Searches</SPAN>|<SPAN CLASS="relsearchLink">%s</SPAN>This setting puts the "Related Searches" text and link in the search tool with appropriate styles applied to the text and link. This option can vary by language.

SHOWSIM_SFLDSThis option specifies the subject subfields to use in the "Show Similar Items" feature of Advanced Searching. The format is: SHOWSIM_SFLDS=<tags>For example: SHOWSIM_SFLDS=abcThis setting instructs WebPac to use the a, b, and c subfields for "Show Similar Items."

Content Linking and Other Resources OptionsThis section describes the Web options for the Content Linking and Other Resources options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

BIBIMAGEThis option contains the URL for an image server machine (including the IP address and search command for accessing images from its database) and the 'i' (ISBN) tag of a bibliographic record field that uniquely identifies the record. If the image server returns an image, it is displayed to the right of the record's bibliographic data. If no image exists for a title with an ISBN, a standard broken-image icon will display. To avoid the display of a standard broken-image icon, serve an alternative image. For example, your library can ask the image vendor to display "No image available" as an alternative to the broken-image icon. For example, if the displayed bibliographic record is a Stephen King novel, a JPEG or GIF image of the book's jacket cover displays next to the record. The format for the option is: BIBIMAGE=<URL>|<tag>|<full-sized URL>

For example:BIBIMAGE=http://www.TheContentServer.com/bin/cntsvr.dll?GetImage&SysID=id&CustID=id&ISBN=%s&Type=S&Return=0|i|http://www.TheContentServer.com/bin/cntsvr.dll?GetImage&SysIDid&CustID=id&ISBN=1560060530&Type=L&Return=1

3

<URL> The URL for the book jacket thumbnail image.

<tag> The bibliographic record field tag identifying the record. If your organization does not have the WebBridge product, this element only accepts the i tag as a value. If your organization has acquired the WebBridge product, you can insert any valid field tag containing a URL. Some special values are:Value Description

I Use all of subfield a of the ISBN in the image URL. This entry is only valid for organizations with the WebBridge product.

i Use only numeric characters and 'x' and 'X' of the ISBN in the image URL (e.g., 1234567x).

T Use the standardized title.

<full-sized URL>

The URL for the book jacket full-sized image.

BIBIMAGE_TEXT[scope][_lang]This option controls the "alt" text for images defined in the BIBIMAGE Web option. The format is:BIBIMAGE_TEXT=<text>For example: BIBIMAGE_TEXT=Book JacketThis option can vary by scope and language.WEBADDRESSThis option specifies the URLs of content providers used in the content links table offered on the browse display and bibliographic display screens. The format of this option is:WEBADDRESS=<browse URL>|I|<bibliographic URL>|<browse IMG>|<bibliographic IMG>|<frame URL>

<browse URL>

This is the URL for the content link that displays from the browse display screen. The entry is optional. If there is no data in this field, there will be no entry for this link on the browse display screen.

I This is the field tag from which to draw information to pass to the URL specified in the <browse URL> field. At present, only ISBN searching is supported.

<bibliographic URL>

This is the URL for the content link that displays from the bibliographic record display. A normalized ISBN search is always performed on this URL.To insert context-specific information into the URL (e.g., the ISBN number from the bibliographic record in a search by ISBN), use %s as a placeholder in the URL as the target of the search being performed (e.g., a search by ISBN). For example: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/%sIn the above example, WebPac replaces %s with the ISBN number from the bibliographic record.

<browse IMG>

This is the text or image URL with which to label the content link displayed from the browse display screen.

<bibliographic IMG>

This is the text or image URL with which to label the content link displayed from the bibliographic display screen. To insert context-specific information into the URL (e.g., the ISBN number from the bibliographic record in a search by ISBN), use %s as a placeholder in the URL as the target of the search being performed (e.g., a search by ISBN). For example:http://images.amazon.com/images/%s/bookcover.jpgIn the above example, WebPac replaces %s with the ISBN number from the bibliographic record.

<frame URL>

Percentage of the browser devoted to the frame displaying the content link. This value is an integer between -1 and 100. If the value of "-1" is used, this percentage is defined by the setting of the FRAMEURL Web option.

For example:WEBADDRESS=http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/ index=books&field-keywords=%s&bq=1/|I|

This label acts as a link in the same manner as 856 fields (see the DISPLAY_856 Web option). This option accepts HTML formatting in the value. For example:XML_LABEL=<strong>XML Data</strong>This option can vary by language.

Featured Lists OptionsThis section describes the Web options for the Featured Lists options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

FEATURED_LIST[_lang]This option specifies the review files to be included in the "Featured Lists" page and optionally the display options for the "Featured Lists" page. The format is:FEATURED_LIST=<list>|<table_header>|<revfile_header>|<#recs_header>

Element Description

<list> Comma-separated list specifying the review files to offer in the "Featured Lists" page. Review files are displayed in the order in which they are listed. To include a file in the "Featured Lists" page, add its number, as it appears in the Create LISTS of records function, to this option. Precede numbers less than 10 with a zero, e.g., 01.If there is only one review file specified, the list of records in that review file is sent to the client and the Featured Lists page is not offered. The following three fields are not required in the FEATURED_LIST option. However, if you wish to define a value for one of these fields, you must define values for all three fields.

<table_header>

Header displayed at the top of the table in the "Featured Lists" page. The default header is Featured Lists.

<revfile_header>

Header for the column that contains the names of the review files on the "Featured Lists" page. The default header is NAME.

<#recs_header>

Header for the column that contains the number of records in each review file. The default header is CUR RECS.

Some examples are:FEATURED_LIST=01,03,12,17FEATURED_LIST=01,03,12,17|SELECTED TITLES|TOPIC|# TITLESThis option can vary by language.

O LIB USE ONLY

$ LOST AND PAID

! ON HOLDSHELF

% ILL RETURNED

You can specify multiple codes in a comma-delimited list. In the following example, items with statuses of "AVAILABLE", "LIB USE ONLY", and "ON HOLDSHELF" will be considered "available" for the purposes of limiting a search with the "Limit to Available" functionality:AVAILLIM_STATS=-,o,!If this option is not set, WebPac uses the default system functionality to determine if an item is "available."

BOTLOGO[scope][_lang]This option specifies an image or text to display on the bottom line of WebPac screens. For example:BOTLOGO=<CENTER><IMG SRC="screens/iiicwrlog.gif"> <ALT IMG="Software from Innovative Interfaces, Inc"></CENTER>An external URL or HTML file can be specified as the source of the bottom line by preceding the URL or filename with the '@' character, as shown in the example below:BOTLOGO=@screens/mybotlogo.htmlNote that in this example, the file resides in the "screens" directory. This option can vary by scope and language.CUSTOM_MESSAGESWhen this option is set to a true value (any word starting with t, T, y, Y, or the number 1), the system uses the messages.conf file (Innovative Guide and Reference #107136) to display customized renewal error messages. If this option is set to a false value (any word starting with f, F, n, N, or the number 0), or is not defined, the WebPAC displays system default renewal error messages.FORM_FOCUSThis option can be used to disable the JavaScript that places the browser's cursor in the first field of any input forms displayed by the Web Server. By default, the Web Server sends this applet to the browser so that the user can immediately input data without having to first click in the field. To disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these characters). For example: FORM_FOCUS=0ICON_DELETE_SELECTED[scope][_lang]This option defines display properties for the Delete Selected icon. This option accepts an HTML value that defines the text or an image to use as the link. For example:ICON_DELETE_SELECTED=<strong>Delete Selected</strong>For a graphic link example:

ICON_DELETE_SELECTED=<img src="/screens/delete_selected.gif" alt="Delete Selected" border="0" />If this option is not defined, the system uses the following default setting:ICON_DELETE_SELECTED=Delete SelectedThis option can vary by scope and language.INSERTTAG_HTML[_lang]This option replaces the value of the <HTML> tag in any system-generated page in WebPac. The value of this option is expressed in HTML and can be used to define DOCTYPE attributes for different organizations. For example:INSERTTAG_HTML=<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "- //W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 TRANSITIONAL//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

NOTE

This option should only be defined if your organization has staff with advanced knowledge of HTML.

This option can vary by language.INSERTTAG_INHEAD[_lang]This option inserts HTML before the </HEAD> tag in any system-generated page in WebPac, such as <meta> tags, alternate stylesheets, or scripts your organization uses. For example:INSERTTAG_INHEAD=<meta http-equiv="Content-Script-Type" content="text /javascript" />

NOTE

This option should only be defined if your organization has staff with advanced knowledge of HTML.

This option can vary by language.RESOURCETABLEThis option defines the attributes of the table where content links (including INN-Reach, Partners, Z39.50, EBADDRESS, and WEBADDRESS defined links) are displayed in the public mode. If this option is not defined, content links display at the top of the browse display and bibliographic display in the button bar.

NOTE

If your organization uses the WebBridge product, you can enable this option to display individual WebBridge resource icons or text links. For details, see the WebBridge Tutorial on CSDirect."

The format is:RESOURCETABLE=<CELL ATT>|<TABLE ATT>|<TITLE>

<CELL ATT> This element contains the attributes for the cell where the content links table is inset.

<TABLE ATT>

This element contains the attributes for the content links table.

<TITLE> The HTML attributes defining text or the image used as the title in the first row of the content links table.

For example:RESOURCETABLE=VALIGN="TOP" ROWSPAN="2" WIDTH="10%"|BGCOLOR="#ddeeff" CELLPADDING="3" CELLSPACING="2" WIDTH=100% BORDER="1"><TR><TD BGCOLOR=#0a50a1 ALIGN=center><FONT COLOR="white"><strong> Find this item at:</strong></FONT></TD></TR|<IMG SRC="images/tableheader.gif">

NOTE

Note that the opening < and closing > brackets are not provided for the <CELL ATT> and <TABLE ATT> elements in the example above. WebPac assigns these elements as values for the <TD> and <TABLE> tags, respectively. For example, the <CELL ATT> element of "VALIGN=TOP ROWSPAN=2 WIDTH=10%" creates a <TD VALIGN=TOP ROWSPAN=2 WIDTH=10%> tag.

RIGHT_CELL_WIDTHThis option defines the width of the rightmost column in the browse and bibliographic level displays in WebPac.

NOTE

If you have defined the RESOURCETABLE Web option, then the resource table will appear in the rightmost column and will be affected by the RIGHT_CELL_WIDTH option setting.

This option accepts the following values:RIGHT_CELL_WIDTH=<browse>|<bib>

Value Description<browse>

This defines the column width for the rightmost column in the browse display.

<bib> This defines the column width for the rightmost column in the bibliographic display.

If this option is not defined, WebPac uses the following default setting:RIGHT_CELL_WIDTH=25|25SSLPORTThis option specifies the secure port for WebPac. Defining this option activates Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) functionality for the WebPac. See Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) ( Innovative Guide and Reference #107075) for details on SSL and WebPac.This option is defined as follows:SSLPORT=<unsecured_port>:<secure_port>:<unsecured_name>:<secure_name>The <unsecured_port> entry corresponds to the port your WebPac runs on (default port 80). The <secure_port> entry corresponds to the port your SSL WebPac runs on (default port 443). The <unsecured_name> entry is the alias of the non-secure port (e.g., public.opac.edu). The <secure_name> entry is the alias for the secure port (e.g., library.opac.edu). This field must match the common name as defined in

9

Page 14: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

your SSL certificate. Review the "SSL Certificates and SSL in WebPac" CSDirect FAQ for details. For example: SSLPORT=80:443:public.opac.edu:library.opac.eduYou may enter multiple <unsecured_port>:<secure_port>:<unsecured_name>:<secure_name> groups into the option value by separating them with a vertical bar character ('|').For example: SSLPORT=80:443:public.opac.edu:library.opac.edu|2080:444:everyone.opac.edu:secure.opac.edu

NOTE

If your library uses a firewall, you must open port 443 in order for SSL to work.

STARTOVER[_lang]This option specifies the Web page that should be sent to the Web client when the user selects the START OVER button from a search results page (i.e., a display of a single record or a group of records). For example: STARTOVER=/screens/startover.htmlThis option can vary by language.See also the PSTARTOVER and XSTARTOVER options.

NOTE

If you are using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), the STARTOVER, PSTARTOVER, and XSTARTOVER Web options must be set with relative URLS rather than absolute URLs. For example, if you have set PSTARTOVER to:PSTARTOVER=http://my.lib.edu:80/screens/mainmenu.htmlYou must change the URL to:PSTARTOVER=/screens/mainmenu.html

STATGROUPThis option specifies the Statistics group to which information on Web searches are logged. Normally, all WebPac users are gathered into a single statistics group (usually 800). For example:STATGROUP=800To use the Statistics group of the login through which users access the Web Server, enter the word "login" instead of a Statistics group number. For example:STATGROUP=loginIn this case, information on searches performed by each user will be logged to the Statistics group to which the login belongs. See also Login Administration. If no statistics group is assigned to the login used for Web searching, WebPac uses statistics group 800 as the default.STYLESHEET[scope]This option specifies a cascading style sheet that the WebPac applies to all pages that it generates (e.g., browse displays, patron information pages, etc.). The style

10

Page 15: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

sheet may be identified either as a file in the '/screens' directory on the Innovative server or as a URL which points to a style sheet on another server. For example:STYLESHEET=/screens/webopac.cssorSTYLESHEET=http://some.other.server/styles/webopac.cssThis option can vary by scope.SUPPRESS_OPTION[_P#]This option specifies the names of Graphic Buttons to suppress from WebPAC pages. The value is a comma-separated list of the button's names, without the "BUT_" prefix. For example:SUPPRESS_OPTION=ENCYCPD,EMAIL,ILL_HOMEThis suppresses the BUT_ENCYCPD, BUT_EMAIL, and BUT_ILL_HOME buttons. This option can vary by patron type (P TYPE).TIMEOUTThis option specifies a timeout interval (in seconds) and the name of the Web screen file to load if the patron has not selected an option on a WebPAC-generated page within the timeout period. Typically, the Web screen file will be one of the library's WebOpac Menu files. The timeout interval and the screen file to load are separated by a semicolon (';'). For example:TIMEOUT=300;URL=http://www.stateu.edu/screens/opacmenu.htmlAn optional parameter may be added to the FRAMEURL option to multiply this timeout number by a specified value for those pages controlled by FRAMEURL (e.g., pages retrieved from the EB-Online server, the Partner search module, INN-Reach databases, attached full text and graphic files, and URLs which are attached to bibliographic records via entries in the MARC 856 field). See the FRAMEURL option for further details.Note that this option only affects WebPAC-generated screens, such as search result pages or display of patron information. For library-created HTML pages, such as the mainmenu.html, opacmenu.html, or the various srchhelp_*.html pages, a timeout period can be added within a <META> tag.For example, a timeout period of 90 seconds can be specified as shown below:<HEAD><META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="90;URL=http:/screens/opacmenu.html"><TITLE>Subject search</TITLE></HEAD>After 90 seconds of inactivity, the opacmenu.html page will be loaded.TOPLOGO[scope][_lang]This option specifies an image or text to display on the top line of WebPAC screens. For example: TOPLOGO=<CENTER><IMG SRC="/screens/inno-bar.gif"><ALT IMG="Your Innovative library catalog"></CENTER>An external HTML file can be specified as the source of the top line by preceding the URL or filename with the '@' character, as shown in the example below:TOPLOGO=@screens/mytoplogo.htmlNote that in this example, the file resides in the screens/ directory.

11

Page 16: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

This option can vary by scope and language.UPDATECIRCThis option allows libraries with a policy of deleting patrons with no circulation activity, to enable authenticated use of the WebPAC to be counted as activity and be logged in the "Last Circ Activity" date in the patron record. This option accepts a boolean value. For example:UPDATECIRC=trueWhen this option is set to a true value (any word starting with t, T, y, Y, or the number 1), WebPAC updates the CIRCACTIVE field in the patron record to the current date after successful authentication (e.g. to place a request, view the patron record, or use a licensed database). If this option is not defined, or does not exist in the WEB OPTIONS file, then WebPAC activity will not update the "Last Circ Activity" date in the patron record.XSTARTOVER[_lang]This option can be used to specify the HTML page(s) to load when the user selects the START OVER button while viewing search result pages, filling in a Request This Item form, or the screens sent by the Web Server in response to the /acquire, /ftlist, /illx, /patroninfo, or /suggest commands. For example, if the following is entered into the WEB OPTIONS file:XSTARTOVER=/screens/xstartover.htmlWhen the user selects START OVER from within any of the above-named functions, the mainmenu.html page will be sent to the browser. If the PSTARTOVER option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file and the user selects the START OVER option or button from the /patroninfo screen, then the Web Server will use the value of the XSTARTOVER option for the HTML page to load. If neither the PSTARTOVER nor the XSTARTOVER option appears in the WEB OPTIONS file, the Web Server sends the mainmenu.html page appropriate to the current language to the browser (e.g., mainmenu.html, mainmenu_frc.html, etc.).See also the STARTOVER option, which specifies a page to load when the user selects START OVER from a search result screen. This option can vary by language.

General and Phrase Searching OptionsThis section describes the Web options for the General and Phrase Searching options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

12

Page 17: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

AUTHOR_TITLE_TAGThis option specifies the tag used by the library for combined Author/Title searches. By default, the tag is 'q', but if your library uses a different tag, use this option to specify it. For example:AUTHOR_TITLE_TAG=vThe /search command link used to access this search must use the specified tag. Also, a Search Help file must exist for the specified index tag (e.g., for this example, the Search Help file would be named srchhelp_v.html).DROP_DOWNWhenever the WebPAC is displaying search results, you will see an option to perform another search. Two elements are used to enter this search: one is a drop-down menu used to enable users to specify the type of search. The other is a text box used to enter the search string. The DROP_DOWN option controls the indexes offered in the "type of search" form, as shown below:The value for the DROP_DOWN option is a list of the one-character index tags of the indexes you want to offer in this form. No punctuation or separators should appear in the value. For example, the value used for a drop-down form might be:DROP_DOWN=atdwgioNote that index tag 'q' (for combined Author/Title searching) may not be used as one of the values of the DROP_DOWN option. If the library has the KidsOnline optional feature, then the DROP_DOWN option in the WEB OPTIONS file for KidsOnline controls the indexes offered in the drop-down form for the "Search for" tool.FRAMEURLThis option controls the percentage of the screen the system devotes to the upper frame for pages retrieved from:the EB-Online server the Partner search module (Innovative Guide and Reference #106826)

INN-Reach databases (Innovative Guide and Reference #105089)

URLs that are attached to bibliographic records via entries in the MARC 856 field display of MARC checkin records

Frames and Viewing Patron Information

The FRAMEURL_PAT option controls frames in the View Your Patron Record screen (Innovative Guide and Reference #106994).

The value for this option is:FRAMEURL=[percentage];[timeout]

Element Description[percentage]

The percentage of the screen dedicated to the upper frame. If this value is 0 then the WeEbPAC does not display an upper frame.

[timeout] The value to multiply against the TIMEOUT Web option. This element is optional

For example:

13

Page 18: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

FRAMEURL=15;3

This sets the size of the upper frame to 15% of the total screen area.

Using FRAMEURL with TIMEOUT

When you set the TIMEOUT option to enable the WebPAC's global timeout at your library, the WebPAC multiples the optional FRAMEURL timeout value by the TIMEOUT value. Note that this timeout extension only applies to pages controlled by the FRAMEURL option. For example, using the following setting:TIMEOUT=120;URL=http://www.stateu.edu/screens/opacmenu.htmlFRAMEURL=15;3

the regular WebPAC screens time out after 120 seconds, and the screens governed by the FRAMEURL option time out after 360 seconds (120 * 3). In both cases, the WebPAC returns to the URL http://www.stateu.edu/screens/opacmenu.html after the timeout period has elapsed.

If this option is not defined and the second element of the DISPLAY_856 is not defined, the system uses the following default:FRAMEURL=15

IBROWSE_MAXThis option allows your organization to control the number of result entries that display for phrase searches. The format is: IBROWSE_MAX=<result entry limit>Where <result entry limit> is the maximum number of phrase search results to display. For example: IBROWSE_MAX=1200This setting limits phrase search results to 1,200 entries. This option cannot be set higher than 32,000. If this option is not set, is set to zero (0), or is set higher than 32,000, the number of result entries are limited to 32,000.KEYWORD_COLORWhen a user performs a Keyword search, the WebPAC may optionally display the entered search string in a different color so that it stands out from the other text in the retrieved records. The value for this option is one of the following:

Value Description

N This setting turns off keyword highlighting in all displays other than TOC lists.

Y|ALL|<COLOR> The keyword is highlighted in every field in which it appears. The color used for highlighting is specified in the <COLOR> element. A vertical bar separates the three elements of this option.

Y|^marctag|<COLOR> The keyword is highlighted in every MARC field matching the specified MARC tag. The color used for highlighting is specified in the <COLOR> element. If the optional ^marctag element of this option is used, you may specify an exact MARC tag (e.g., ^240), or use a period in any digit position as a "wild card" to specify a family of MARC tags.

14

Page 19: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

For example:KEYWORD_COLOR=Y|^24.|BLUEThis setting will display all three-digit MARC fields beginning with the numbers '24' and containing any number in the third digit in the color blue.KEYWORD_COLOR=Y|^5..|REDThis setting will display all three-digit MARC fields beginning with the number '5' and containing any number in the second and third digits in the color red. This is the default if this option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file.By default, the WebPAC uses the following setting:KEYWORD_COLOR=N

NOTE

Only one KEYWORD_COLOR line may appear in the WEB OPTIONS file. You may not specify more than one color for this option, nor may you specify more than one range of MARC tags.By default, TOC lists (970 fields) are highlighted by the system in blue.

MULT_LIMITSIf this option is set to a true value (any word starting with 't', 'T', 'y', 'Y', or the number 1) then any drop-down menu offered in Advanced Keyword search help pages and phrase search limiting pages will display in a scrolled list box. Using the <Ctrl> <mouse click> (<Cmd> <mouse click> on MacIntosh) method, users can select multiple options in the list boxes. The selected multiple options are OR'ed together when performing the search. If this option is set to a false value (any word starting with 'f', 'F', 'n', 'N', or the number 0), or this option is not defined, then WebPAC does not offer this functionality.NOSEARCHThis option specifies index tags that should not be made available for searching with the WebPAC. For example: NOSEARCH=nubIn this example, the patron record index tags 'n' (Patron name), 'u' (University ID), and 'b' (Patron barcode) are made unavailable to Web clients. Note that if the NOSEARCH option is not entered into the WEB OPTIONS file, then the values 'nub' will be used as the defaults. If your library has the Linked Patrons Group feature, add the Linked Patrons Group index tag to the NOSEARCH option. The Linked Patrons Group index tag is normally 'f', but be sure to verify which tag is used at your library.OFFER_HISTORYThis option controls whether the Search History option is offered to the user. If this option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file, then Search History is not offered. To offer Search History, set this option to a TRUE value (1, the characters T, t, Y, or y, or any word beginning with one of these characters). Note that this option requires that the client browser support JavaScript version 1.2 or later.See also the description of the <!--{srchhist}--> Search Help token.

15

Page 20: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

SHOW_KW_MSGSThis option controls the display of keyword search messages in the WebPAC. By default, WebPAC displays keyword messages. To suppress keyword search messages, set the Web option to false (i.e, 0, 'f', 'F', "false", or "FALSE"). For example:SHOW_KW_MSGS=0If this option does not exist, or has a true (i.e., 1, 't', 'T', "true", or "TRUE") setting, keyword search messages display.

Holdings Options

This section describes the Web options for the Holdings options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

CHECKIN_BGCOLOR / CHECKIN_FONTCOLORThese options specify the background (CHECKIN_BGCOLOR) and foreground (CHECKIN_FONTCOLOR) colors in which the statuses of checkin card boxes displayed. The value of each option is a vertical bar-separated list of the colors for the statuses ARRIVED, EXPECTED, TOBIND/BOUND, LATE, and OTHER.Colors can be specified either by name (e.g., RED, GREEN, BLACK) or as hex RGB values (e.g., #FF0000 for RED, #00FF00 for GREEN, #0000FF for BLUE, #808080 for GRAY). For example:CHECKIN_BGCOLOR=ARRIVED=#D50000|EXPECTED=#CAFFB0|TOBIND/BOUND=#B0E4FF|LATE=#FFB0CA|OTHER=#AA7676CHECKIN_FONTCOLOR=ARRIVED=GREEN|EXPECTED=BLACK|TOBIND/BOUND=RED|LATE=BLACK|OTHER=BLACKIf this option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file, the Web Server uses the following default colors:

ARRIVED Green text on gray background

The format is a list of subfield codes, without spaces or punctuation. The behavior is identical to the DISPLAY_856 Web option, except that this option governs checkin records, rather than bibliographic records. For example:DISPLAY_CHECKIN_856=uzlm3HOLDINGS_REQThis option specifies the text for the screen option that displays when the library owns the journal and allows users to request journal articles. For example:HOLDINGS_REQ=Deliver this article to meHOLDINGS_TAGSThis option specifies the Innovative tag and MARC subfield in the Journal Article Citation bibliographic record field that holds the ISSN. The two values are separated by a colon, as in the following example:HOLDINGS_TAGS=j:xIn this example, the Innovative field group tag is 'j' and the MARC subfield is 'x'.

SORT_ITEMSYour organization can choose to have the display of items attached to the bibliographic record arranged so that locally held copies are shown first, based on the "Locations Served" table associated with the "login" assigned to the IP address from which the user is connecting to the WebPAC.When this option is set to a TRUE value (1, the characters T, t, Y, or y, or any word beginning with one of these characters), items whose LOCATION matches entries in the login's Locations Served table will appear first in this list.See Login Administration (Innovative Guide and Reference #106351) for more information on logins and the WebPAC.SUPPRESS_CARDThis option specifies conditions under which the checkin card link (the "Latest Received" link) is suppressed in the WebPAC display. The value for this option is a list of one or more of the following one-character status codes, with no commas or punctuation:

F or f Filled

C or c Current

I or i Incomplete

U or u Unused

For example, if the SUPPRESS_CARD option is set as shown below:SUPPRESS_CARD=CFI then links to checkin cards with the status Current, Filled, or Incomplete will be suppressed.

Inter-library Loan OptionsThis section describes the Web Server Options for the Inter-library Loan options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

ILL_CONF_EMAILThis option defines the header of the ILL Request confirmation email. This option accepts the following values:ILL_CONF_EMAIL=<from address>|<reply-to address>

Element Description<from address>

The "From:" address that appears in the email header. This address is not verified prior to sending the message. This must be a valid user name on the system.

<reply-to address>

The "Reply-To:" address that appears in the email header. This address is not verified prior to sending the message. This element is optional. If this element is left blank, no

"Reply-To:" line is included in the header of the email message.

For example:ILL_CONF_EMAIL=illadm|[email protected] If this option is not defined, WebPAC will not generate an ILL Request confirmation email. ILL_CONF_EMAIL_SUBJECT[_lang]This option defines the subject line of the ILL Request confirmation email. This option accepts a text value for the subject line. If this option is not defined, WebPAC uses the following default value:ILL_CONF_EMAIL_SUBJECT=Library notification of Inter-library Loan requestThis option can vary by language.ILL_HOME[scope]This option specifies the URL of the HTML page that users go to after entering ILL requests with one of the /illx command links. For example:ILL_HOME=/screens/ill.htmlThe BUT_ILL_HOME button may be used to launch this URL. If there is no BUT_ILL_HOME defined, the link will display as the underlined text "Another ILL Request".This option can vary by scope.

Media Management Options

This section describes the Web options for the Media Management options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

ERESERVEThis option specifies the IP addresses of client browsers that are allowed to access Media Management. For example:ERESERVE=111.111.111.111In this example, only logins from the specific IP address 111.111.111.111 will be allowed to access Media Management. A group of IP addresses may be specified by omitting one or more of the octets in this option's value. For example:ERESERVE=111.111.111.Here, all clients whose IP address begins with 111.111.111 will be allowed access (e.g., 111.111.111.1, 111.111.111.2, 111.111.111.3, etc.). Note that the trailing period is required in this case.Multiple IP addresses and address groups may be entered, separating each by a vertical bar. For example:ERESERVE=111.111.111.|222.222.|33.33.33.

Do not change the value of this option unless instructed to do so by Innovative.

ERESERVE_IPThis option is for use only at sites that use a firewall device that changes the addresses of incoming connections from an "external" address to an "internal" one. This can prevent WebPAC from loading the JAVA applet that is used to view Media Management items. The ERESERVE_IP option specifies the IP address of this firewall device. For example:ERESERVE_IP=140.189.69.244This option also accepts DNS entries. For example:ERESERVE_IP=catalog.lib.eduThis allows users outside of the firewall to load the applet and view scanned images.ERESERVE_PRINT_MESSAGEThis option specifies the message that displays on the Web screen when a selected article has been printed. For example:ERESERVE_PRINT_MESSAGE=Article has been sent to the system printer

My Lists OptionsIf your organization has acquired the My Lists WebPAC Pro feature, you can use the following Web options to modify your presentation of My Lists. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

ICON_MYLISTS[scope][_lang]This option defines the display properties for the My Lists link in the patron record display. Clicking this link takes the patron to the patron's personalized list of titles. This option accepts an HTML value that defines the text or an image to use as the link. For example:ICON_MYLISTS=<strong>My Lists</strong>For a graphic link example:ICON_MYLISTS=<img src="/screens/my_lists.gif" alt="My Lists" border="0" />If this option is not defined, the system uses the following default setting:ICON_MYLISTS=My ListsThis option can vary by scope and language.ICON_MYLISTS_EXPORT[scope][_lang]This option defines the display properties for the Export My Lists link in the Book Cart form (Innovative Guide and Reference #107027). MY MILLENNIUM OPTIONSIf your organization has been set up for the My Millennium feature, the following options will appear in the WEB OPTIONS file (see also the descriptions of the FRAMEURL_PAT and SUPPRESS_OPTION options and the BUT_PUBLIC and BUT_STAFF graphic buttons).

ALTERNATE_ID_EMAILThis option defines the parameters for email address and subject line in the email notification sent to the patron's email address when the patron's alternate ID field is modified using the modpinfo.html form. The text of the notification email is controlled by the alternateid.html customizable Web form. This option accepts the following values:ALTERNATE_ID_EMAIL=[from]|[subject]

Value Description

[from] This element specifies the fully-qualified email account to return bounced email. For example, [email protected].

[subject]

This element specifies the text for the subject header. The pipe (|) character is invalid for this value.

For example:[email protected]|Your login name has changedThis option does not have a default value. If this option is not set, the WebPAC does not send an email to users confirming that the alternate ID was changed.CIRC_HIST_LIMIT_TEXT[_lang]When this option is present, patrons or staff logged in to My Millennium may limit the results of a preferred phrase search to exclude previously checked-out titles. To use this feature, patrons either:are assigned to the Homebound patron typeenable My Reading HistoryThe value of the option is the text label displayed next to the "Include All" checkbox. For example:CIRC_HIST_LIMIT_TEXT="Include All"If this option is not present, or the option exists but has no value defined, WebPAC does not offer the ability to limit results of a preferred phrase search. This option can vary by language.

22

Page 27: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

FORCE_COOKIEThis option controls whether WebPAC requires a "cookie" in order to allow access to patron records. When this option is set to true, WebPAC requires a "cookie" in order to allow access to patron functions. If this option is not defined, or is set to false, then WebPAC does not require cookies in order for patrons to access patron functions. For example:FORCE_COOKIE=trueHAS_ALTERNATE_IDWhen this option is set to a true value (any word starting with t, T, y, Y, or the number 1), the system checks if the WebPAC is set up to use alternate IDs in patron verification. If so, the system enables alternate IDs, providing the appropriate tokens are in place on appropriate customizable Web forms. If this option has a false value (any word starting with f, F, n, N, or the number 0) or is not defined, the system does not offer alternate IDs in patron verification. For more information, see Using Alternate IDs in the WebPAC. (Innovative Guide and Reference #107527)LOGGEDIN_MSG[scope][_lang]This option allows library staff to customize the "you are logged in as" message in My Millennium. The option takes HTML tags, allowing for customization of font and color. This option accepts two %s placeholders in the setting, the first %s for the library name, and the second for the patron name. For example:LOGGEDIN_MSG=You are logged in %s as %sThus, patron Barry Ween at Western Public Library would get the following message:You are logged in Western Public Library as Barry WeenThe %s placeholders only work in succession. You cannot use the %s placeholder for the patron name without first using it for the library name. This option can vary by scope and language.NO_REVERIFYPatrons log in to the My Millennium feature by selecting the Search the Catalog option while viewing their own patron record (accessed with the /patroninfo command link). Since the patron has already provided his or her name and ID to the system while logging in, it is not necessary to request verification again when the patron accesses a WebPAC function that normally requires verification, such as ILL requests or bookings. The NO_REVERIFY option specifies those functions for which reverification is not required. The value of this option is a comma-separated list of one or more of the following keywords:

acq Materials the Library Should Acquire function

book Booking function

media Electronic Course Reserves

ill Inter-Library Loan requests

23

The keywords may appear in any order. An example is:NO_REVERIFY=req,ill,acqThis setting means that the patron will not be required to verify his or her identity when accessing the Request, ILL, or Acquire functions while he or she is logged into the My Millennium feature.PATRONVIEW_STARTThis option lets your library specify a patron activity screen (such as checkouts, holds, etc.) to display immediately when the patron logs in with the /patroninfo command link. The value of this option defines the default patron activity type to display, if the patron has activity to show. For example, your library can specify that patrons can immediately see their checked out items when accessing the /patroninfo command link, instead of having to click the BUT_PAT_CHKOUTS button. You can specify multiple patron activity types, which display in order of priority. If you specify checked out items as the activity to display first and the patron has no checked out items, WebPAC will display the next listed option that has activity (for example, holds or fines).Enter the values for this option in a comma-delimited list of activity types. Enter them in order of priority. Valid values are:

Value Description

chkouts The patron's checked out items

holds The patron's held materials

If the patron does not have checked out items, WebPAC will display holds in the default display. The patron can still click the appropriate buttons specified in the Patron Record Display Form to view other activity. This option does not have a default value. If this option is not defined or does not exist, the system will not show patron activity until the patron clicks the appropriate button.Innovative recommends that you order the value of this option in a similar sequence to the visual arrangement you have in your patron record display.PREF_SEARCHES[_P#]This option sets the number of preferred searches that may be saved by patrons who have logged in to the WebPAC by using the My Millennium feature. It also controls whether a "Mark for Email" option appears on the "Edit Preferred Searches" screen in the Patron Information page. The format of the Preferred Searches Email is controlled by the Millennium Alert Options file. The two elements of the value for this option are separated by a vertical bar:PREF_SEARCHES=<NumSearches>|<EmailOpt>The two elements are:<NumSearches>The maximum number of Preferred Searches that may be saved<EmailOpt>An optional TRUE/FALSE element, where TRUE values are 1, the characters T, t, Y, or y, or any word beginning with one of these characters and FALSE values are 0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these characters. If this element is absent, the system does not offer the "Mark for Email" option. If this feature is enabled, every time a logged-in patron performs a search and gets results, a button displays offering to save the current search on the search results page. The text on this button is specified with the PREFTEXT option. An option to manage the preferred search list also appears on the patron's Patron Information page. This option can vary by patron type (P TYPE).PREFTEXTThis option specifies the text for the button that appears on all search result screens offering users the ability to save the current search as a preferred search. The PREF_SEARCHES option specifies the maximum number of searches that a patron may save.READING_HISTORY_DELETEThis option specifies whether the patron can delete circulation history entries. The option format is:READING_HISTORY_DELETE=<true or false>If this option is set to "true", and your organization uses circulation history, and the patron has enabled circulation history, then the patron can delete individual circulation history entries or the entire circulation history via the

When this option is set to "true" (e.g., 't', 'T', 'true,' 'y', 'Y'), patrons logged in to My Millennium will view a TOPLOGO defined by the appropriate toplogo_loggedin.html custom form.

Patron Record OptionsThis section describes the Web Options for the Patron Records options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

CHANGE_HOLD_LOCWhen this option is set to a true value (any word starting with 't', 'T', 'y', 'Y', or the number 1) the WebPAC offers the user the option to change pickup locations from a drop-down list. Patrons can change pickup locations only if the held items are not yet ready for pickup. If this option is set to a false value (any word starting with 'f', 'F', 'n', 'N', or the number 0) or this option is not set, patrons cannot change a pickup location for held items.FRAMEURL_PATThis option controls the percentage of the screen to devote to the upper frame when the user is viewing patron information (with the /patroninfo command link). Unlike the FRAMEURL option, there is no TIMEOUT parameter for the FRAMEURL_PAT option. An example, which sets the frame to 25%, is shown below:FRAMEURL_PAT=25If this option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file or is set to a value of '0', the system will set the upper frame to use 30% of the screen. To turn off framing in the patron information page, set the first element of the MY_WEBPAC option in the WEB OPTIONS file to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these characters).FREEZE_HOLDS[_P#]When this option is set to a true value (any word starting with t, T, y, Y, or the number 1) then specified patrons can have their position in the hold queue skipped over until the hold is reactivated. This process allows other holds to be filled without patrons losing their place in the hold queue. When a patron has a request skipped over until reactivated, the patron's "not wanted before" date to 255 days (the maximum value) from the hold's creation date.

NOTE

The 255 setting is a system setting that indicates that a request is being skipped over until reactivated. Patrons can reactivate hold via the WebPAC. However, library staff do not have the ability to change the Not Needed By (NNB) date when the system sets it to 255. A skipped over record

26

Page 31: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

remains active until the patron reactivates the hold, even if the hold extends beyond the actual date calculated by the NNB date.

The function of setting a request to skip over the position in the hold queue until reactivated is subject to the following conditions:If the hold is for a newly-created hold or an existing hold that is neither in-transit nor showing as on the hold shelf, the system allows the hold to be skipped over until reactivated. If the hold is in-transit or on the holdshelf, then the user cannot specify that the hold position be skipped over by the system. If this option is set to a false value (any word starting with f, F, n, N, or the number 0) or this option is not set, then patrons cannot have the system skip over the position in the hold queue. This option can vary by patron type (P TYPE).HOLD_MSG_SIMPLEWhen this option is set to a true value (any word starting with t, T, y, Y, or the number 1), WebPAC suppresses all status messages in the "status" column of the holds display in the View your Record screen except:Ready. Pick up by [date]   (if the item is on the holdshelf)([num] of [num] HOLDS)  (if the item is not on the holdshelf)

If this option is set to a true value, the Holds: Give precedence to local holds system option must be false.

If this option is set to a false value (any word starting with f, F, n, N, or the number 0), or not defined, patron holds display normally in the View Your Record display.ICON_PIN_RESET[scope][_lang]This option defines the appearance for the link enabling users to reset their PINs. This option accepts an HTML value that defines the text or an image to use as the link. For example:ICON_PIN_RESET=<strong>Forgot your PIN?</strong>For a graphic link example:ICON_PIN_RESET=<img src="/screens/pinreset.gif" alt="Forgot your PIN?" border="0" />If this option is not defined, the system uses the following default setting:ICON_PIN_RESET=Forgot your PIN?This option can vary by scope and language.PIN_NUM_ONLYThis option specifies whether WebPAC requires PIN values to be numeric values only. If this option is set to a true value (any word starting with t, T, y, Y, or the number 1), then WebPAC restricts valid PINs to only numeric values. If this option is set to a false value (any word starting with f, F, n, Y, or the number 0) or is not defined, WebPAC does not restrict PINs to only numeric values. If this option is set, it overrides the setting for the PIN_ALPHA_NUM Web option.

27

Page 32: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

PIN_RESETThis option controls the WebPAC feature allowing patrons to reset their PINs. If this option is set to a true value (any word starting with t, T, y, Y, or the number 1), WebPAC enables the functionality allowing patrons to reset their PINs.If this option is set to a false value (any word starting with f, F, n, N, or the number 0), or is not defined, the WebPAC does not allow patrons to reset their PINs.PIN_RESET_EMAIL[scope][_lang]This option specifies the parameters for the headers included in the PIN reset email sent to patrons upon receipt of a PIN reset request. This option, along with the PIN_RESET Web option, is required in order to enable the WebPAC function allowing patrons to reset their PINs. The option format is:PIN_RESET_EMAIL=[subject]|[from]|[reply-to]

Element Value Description[subject] The subject line for the notification email sent by the system

to patrons requesting a PIN reset. This element displays any alphanumeric characters as text in the subject line.

[from] A valid system login with email privileges. This value must be fully-qualified to include the @[domain] portion of the email. This value is required or the system will generate errors when users submit requests to reset PINs.

[reply-to] The reply-to address to display in the email.

For example: PIN_RESET_EMAIL=Request to reset your libraryMASK_BARCODEWhen this option is set to a true value (t, T, y, Y, any word that starts with those letters, or 1) WebPAC treats verification barcodes as passwords and masks the bardcode entry to show as asterisks. When this option is set to a false value (f, F, n, N, any word that starts with those letters, or 0), WebPAC does not mask barcode entry. If this option is not defined, WebPAC uses the following default:MASK_BARCODE=trueMIN_PIN_LENGTHThis option specifies the minimum length of characters in a valid PIN.For example:MIN_PIN_LENGTH=6This value forces patrons to have a PIN that is a minimum of six characters.MODIFY_PFLDSThis option specifies the patron record field tags that the patron can modify via the /patroninfo command link. When this option has a valid value, WebPAC displays a "Modify Personal Information" link in the top frame of the Patron Information page sent by the system in response to the /patroninfo command (see also #107002 Enabling Patrons to Change Patron Record Information in the Innovative Guide and Reference .

28

Page 33: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

The value of this option is a list of the patron record tags that can be modified, without spaces, commas, or other punctuation. Valid tags are:

Field Tag

Description

a The first address field (ADDRESS)

h The alternate address field (ADDRESS2)

t Telephone number (TELEPHONE)

o Mobile telephone number (MOBILE PH)

p Alternate telephone number (TELEPHONE2)

zEmail address (EMAIL ADDR)

Substituting the z Tag

If your library is using the EMAIL circ notices option, you can substitute for the z tag,the tag of the patron record field containing the email address.

H Home library/default pickup location (HOME LIBR)

For each tag in the setting, WebPAC displays prompts for the appropriate information. For example:MODIFY_PFLDS=ahtpzH

NOTES

The system does not validate the data entered by the patron.

MY_WEBPACThis option controls:The frame display from the /patroninfo command link. The ability to log in to My Millennium. The patron types for which a "Search the Catalog" button displays. This option has three comma-delimited elements:MY_WEBPAC=<frame>,<search>,<PTYPE><frame>When the WebPAC displays patron information (i.e., when it receives the /patroninfo command link), the resulting page is displayed in two frames. The percentage of the page to devote to the upper frame is controlled by the FRAMEURL_PAT option in the WEB OPTIONS file.To turn off framing on this page, set the <frame> element of this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these characters). If the MY_WEBPAC option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file, then the WebPAC behaves as if this element were set to TRUE.

29

Page 34: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

Note that setting the FRAMEURL_PAT option to 0 does not turn off this framing.<search>This element of the option controls the ability of users to log in to the My Millennium feature. When set to a TRUE value (1, the characters T, t, Y, or y, or any word beginning with one of these characters), then a Search the Catalog button appears on the patron information screen. If this button is selected, the patron is logged in, with all PTYPE-specific behaviors applied. If your organization uses WebPAC Pro, this element further controls validation against other functions and accepts any one of the following values:

Value Description0 My Millennium is not allowed for users.

1 WebPAC displays a Search the Catalog button on the patron information screen. If this button is selected, the patron is logged in, with all PTYPE-specific behaviors applied.

2 If the user successfully validates against the patron record for any function except Web Access Management, the user is automatically logged-in to My Millennium.

3 If the user successfully validates against the patron record for any function (including Web Access Management), the user is automatically logged-in to My Millennium.

<PTYPE>If this element is specified, MY_WEBPAC will show the "Search the Catalog" button for only the specified patron types. Enter PTYPEs either as a range or as comma-delimited entries. Some examples are:

MY_WEBPAC=1,0,1-3,9-27,67,100-109 Framing ON, My Millennium OFF, PTYPEs 1 through 3, 9 through 27, 67, and 100 through 109

MY_WEBPAC=Y,1,1-3,9-27,67,100-109 Framing ON, My Millennium ON, PTYPEs 1 through 3, 9 through 27, 67, and 100 through 109

MY_WEBPAC=F,2, PTYPEs 1 through 3,9 through 27,67, and 100 through 109

Framing OFF, My Millennium ON and if the user successfully validates for any function except Web Access Management, the user is logged-in to My Millennium, PTYPEs 1 through 3,9 through 27,67, and 100 through 109

NEWPIN_MSGA library patron has the option to enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN) through the WebPAC. This option specifies the text that is presented to the patron, prompting him or her to enter the PIN. For example: NEWPIN_MSG=Please enter your PIN

30

Page 35: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

PATRON_FIELDSThis option specifies the fields and subfields to present when a patron record is displayed by the WebPAC. The value of this option has three elements (optionally, four or more), separated by the vertical bar character:PATRON_FIELDS=<namefld>|<addrfld>|<phonefld>|F/<fixnum>[|<otherspecs>|...]Each element consists of the field tag of the field that contains the particular patron data and a list of subfields from that field to display, separated by the forward slash character (e.g., a/abc for field tag 'a' and subfields 'a', 'b', and 'c'). The subfield list may contain one or more hyphens to indicate ranges (e.g., a-c, b-dfhj-o, etc.). The elements are:

<namefld> The field tag of the field in which the patron's name appears in the patron record, and a list of subfields from that field to display (e.g., n/a-d for field tag 'n' and subfields 'a' through 'd').

<addrfld> The field tag of the field in which the patron's address appears in the patron record, and a list of subfields from that field to display (e.g., a/ab for field tag 'a' and subfields 'a' and 'b').

<phonefld> The field tag of the field in which the patron's phone number appears in the patron record, and a list of subfields from that field to display (e.g., t/a-z for field tag 't' and subfields 'a' through 'z').

F/<fixnum> The fixed-length field number of the patron record containing the field you want to display (e.g., F/43 for the patron record expiration date).

<otherspecs> Additional information from the patron record may be displayed by adding one or more field/subfield pairs in this optional element (e.g., f/ab for field tag 'f' and subfields 'a' and 'b'). More than one <otherspecs> element may be added, separated from the preceding <otherspecs> element with a vertical bar. If only a field is specified (e.g., "f/"), then subfields a-z from the field will display.

If this option is not defined, the WebPAC uses the following defaults:

<namefld> Field tag 'n' and subfield 'a' (e.g., n/a)

<addrfld> Field tag 'a' and subfield 'a' (e.g., a/a)

<phonefld> Field tag 't' and subfield 't' (e.g., t/t)

If this option is not defined, all field data that does not appear in a subfield will display as well.NOTES

If your organization has set the Check-out: Display patron address option in the CIRCULATION OPTIONS section of SYSTEM OPTIONS to NO, then only the patron's name field will display in the WebPAC, no matter what values are assigned to the PATRON_FIELDS option. If there is a y-tagged field in the patron record that begins with the strings "image:" or "url:" (case insensitive), then that field is displayed immediately to the left of the patron record data.

31

Page 36: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

PATRON_MSGThis option specifies the index tag of a variable-length field in patron records into which the library may enter a custom message to display when the Web Server receives the /patroninfo command. The syntax for this option is: PATRON_MSG=<itag>|<Message link text>The <Message link text> is used as the URL link to display the contents of the specified field to the patron. For example, if this option is entered as follows:PATRON_MSG=z|Message from the librarythen, if the patron's record contains a 'z' field and the patron chooses to view his/her own patron record, a link with the text "Message from the library" will appear on the browser's screen. When the patron selects this link, the contents of the 'z' field will be sent to the browser.PATRON_NOTICESThis option specifies the circulation notice delivery methods that the patron may select when modifying his or her personal information in the Patron Information screen. The value of this option is one or more of the following patron record field tags, which indicate the delivery methods to offer to the patron on this screen:

  a   Postal mail

  p   Telephone

  z   Email

NOTE

PATRON_NOTICES will accept a substitution of the 'z' tag for email, based on the tag used for the patron email address field in the EMAIL circ notices menu option.

If more than one method is to be offered, these tags appear in the PATRON_NOTICES value without spaces or other punctuation. For example:

PATRON_NOTICES=az Offer Postal mail and email methods

PATRON_NOTICES=apz Offer all three methods

NOTES

Your organization must have acquired the Telephone Notification System (TNS) product to offer the Telephone option. Similarly, the library must have acquired the Sending Circulation Notices via Email feature to offer the Email option. The system will not offer these options to the patron if these features have not been installed, even if they are specified in the PATRON_NOTICES option. The MODIFY_PFLDS option in the WEB OPTIONS file affects the ability to enter or edit patron record fields in the Patron Information screen. If a particular field tag appears in PATRON_NOTICES but does not appear in MODIFY_PFLDS, it may still

32

Page 37: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

be selected as a delivery method, but it may not be edited.

PIN_ALPHA_NUMThis option specifies whether WebPAC requires PIN values to be a mix of alpha and numeric values. If this option is set to a true value (any word starting with t, T, y, Y, or the number 1), then WebPAC requires valid PINs to contain a mixture of alpha and numeric characters (for example, 6swan54).If this option is set to a false value (any word starting with f, F, n, Y, or the number 0) or is not defined, WebPAC does not require PINs to be a mixture of alpha and numeric characters.PSTARTOVER[_lang]This option specifies the Web page that will be sent to the Web client when users are viewing search result pages or their own patron record and clicks on the START OVER button. For example:PSTARTOVER=/screens/pstartover.htmlIf this option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file and the patron selects START OVER from the /patroninfo screen, then the Web Server will use the value of the XSTARTOVER option for the HTML page to load. If neither the PSTARTOVER or the XSTARTOVER options appear in the WEB OPTIONS file, the Web Server sends the mainmenu.html page appropriate to the current language to the browser (e.g., mainmenu.html, mainmenu_frc.html, etc.) and, if the library has the Scoping module, resets the scope to the entire collection. This option can vary by language.See also the STARTOVER option, which specifies a page to load when users select START OVER from a search results screen.

SEEPUDATEThis option controls the "Ready. Pick up by <date>" message for requests that are ready for pickup. The option format is:SEEPUDATE=<true or false>If this option is set to a true value (any word starting with t, T, y, Y, or the number 1), is commented out, or is not defined, WebPAC displays a "Ready. Pick up by <date>" message (e.g., "Pick up by 8-13-2004").If this option is set to a false value (any word starting with f, F, n, N, or the number o), WebPAC displays a "Ready." message with no "Pick up by <date>" information.TABLEPARAM_PATDISP[scope]This option controls the display of tables on the patron record display screen. This option is comprised of three elements, and the data entered for these elements is inserted between the appropriate <TABLE> and </TABLE> tags. The values for these elements must be valid <TABLE> tag attributes. The option elements are:

33

Page 38: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

TABLEPARAM_PATDISP=<main>|<info>|<buttons>

<main> Defines the parameters for the main patron record display table, containing patron information and function buttons. If the main patron record display is set in a framed display, this table contains all information in the top frame.

<info> Defines the parameters of the patron information table.

<buttons> Defines the parameters for the table containing patron function buttons.

For example:TABLEPARAM_PATDISP=WIDTH=100% BGCOLOR=#ddeeff|BGCOLOR=#0e8eff|BGCOLOR=#a0e0f8This option can vary by scope.TABLEPARAM_PATFUNC[scope]This option controls the display of patron function tables on the patron record display screen. This option is comprised of three elements, and the data entered for these elements is inserted between the appropriate <TABLE> and </TABLE> tags. The values for these elements must be valid <TABLE> tag attributes. The option elements are:TABLEPARAM_PATFUNC=<main_func>|<mod_pin>|<mod_info>

<main_func> Defines the parameters for the main patron function table containing information on patron functions such as holds, inter-library loans, checked-out items, and fines. If the patron display is in a frame, then this information appears in the bottom frame.

<mod_pin> Defines parameters for the table containing the form for patron PIN modification.

<mod_info> Defines parameters for the table containing the form for patron modification of personal information. The fields that appear in this form are defined by the MODIFY_PFLDS Option.

For example:TABLEPARAM_PATFUNC=WIDTH=100% BORDER=1|BORDER=2|BORDER=3This option can vary by scope.TIMEOUT_POPUPThis option defines the timeout in a patron session for modifying personal information, modifying the pin, and entering information in the credit card popup windows. The option accepts a numerical value, in seconds, as the timeout. For example:TIMEOUT_POPUP=30This value sets the timeout at 30 seconds. If this option is not defined, or does not exist in the WEB OPTIONS file, then the patron session does not time out until the form is submitted or closed.

Record Display Options

This section describes the Web options for the Record Display options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

34

Page 39: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

BIBLOCThis option controls the display of location information in the Full Record Display. When set to a TRUE value (e.g., '1', the characters 'T', 't', 'Y', or 'y', or any word beginning with one of these characters), the first data field displayed in the Full Record Display will be the LOCATION from the bibliographic record.

NOTE

Note that the first data field serves as the only display of the location for all record types, except checkins.

BIB_TOC_HEADERThis option controls the caption for the table of contents in the bibliographic display. The value for this option accepts HTML. For example:BIB_TOC_HEADER=<strong>Table of Contents</strong>If this option is not set, no caption appears in the table of contents in the bibliographic display.DISPLAY_856This option specifies which subfields from MARC 856 field(s) are offered as selectable links in the display of a bibliographic record.

NOTE

The MARC standard for the 856 field specifies that subfield 'u' contains the URL and subfield 'z' contains a note for public display.

The value of this option is:DISPLAY_856=[subfields]|[new window]

Value Description[subfields]

A list of subfield codes, without spaces or punctuation.

[new window]

If this element is set to a true value (any word starting with t, T, y, Y, or the number 1), 856 links open in a new browser window. If this element is set to a false value (any word starting with f, F, n, N, or the number 0) or not defined, 856 links open in the same browser window.

For example:DISPLAY_856=uzlm3|trueAll listed subfields which occur in the record's 856 field(s) appear as links, in the order specified in this option's value. In the example above, links will be offered for subfields 'u', 'z', 'l', 'm', and '3' in that order. If multiple 856 fields occur in a record, the specified subfields from all of them are offered as links. Clicking any of these links in the WebPAC causes the link to open in a new browser window. If this option is not defined, the system uses subfield 'z' appears as the link or, if there is no 'z' subfield, the system uses subfield 'u' as the link.

NOTE

The 'u' subfield always contains the URL, and the 'z' subfield

35

Page 40: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

is a note field for public display in the link. For example, in the following 856 field, the 'z' subfield ("Connect to III") will display as the link that, when chosen, will take the user to the service whose URL appears in the 'u' subfield:

     856 72 |uhttp://www.iii.com|zConnect to IIISee also the LINK856TEXT option.

FLD_LABEL_VERBATIMNormally, the WebPAC displays the labels for record fields in proper case, with an initial capital letter followed by all lowercase letters (e.g., "Title", "Author", "Subject", etc.). If your library is running a non-English version of the Web Server and uses non-English labels for fields, the display of these labels might be unintelligible, since the relationship between uppercase and lowercase letters in the language's character set might not be the same as it is in the ASCII (American English) character set. To display the labels exactly as they appear in the system's labels file, set this option to a TRUE value (1, the characters T, t, Y, or y, or any word beginning with one of these characters). For example:FLD_LABEL_VERBATIM=trueIf this option is not set, or does not exist in your WEB OPTIONS file, the system uses a default setting of "false".

HOLDINGS_POSWhen the RECORDFRAME option is disabled, this option specifies where the holdings appear on the WebPAC search results screens. This option accepts the following values:HOLDINGS_POS=<bib fields>|<resource fields>Each element accepts a one-character field tag code that specifies a field that appears before the holdings list (for example, 'a' for author, 't' for title). In addition, this option accepts the following special value:

Value Definition

R This value determines the default placement of the material ratings tool for Patron Material Ratings. This value must be upper case.

Note that other values from the Bibliographic and Holdings Record Display file, also known as the webpub.def file, cannot be used in this option. For example:HOLDINGS_POS=atpe|atpeIn this example, the holdings list displays the author, title, publication information, and edition information for both the bibliographic and resource records. If this option is not defined, WebPAC uses the following default setting:HOLDINGS_POS=atpeR|atpeRThis setting displays the author, title, publication information, and patron material ratings tool. When the RECORDFRAME option is enabled and frames are used in your WebPAC search results screens, this option also controls which fields from the bibliographic record are printed when the user prints the frame containing the holdings data.

36

Page 41: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

HOTLINKThis option allows staff to override hardcoded suppression of hotlinks for indexed MARC tags. The format is:HOTLINK=<fieldspec>,<fieldspec>,...The <fieldspec> entry consists of the field tag and the MARC tag (e.g., i020). The matching function accepts regular expressions to further qualify the appropriate indexed tags. For example:HOTLINK=i^020,c^09,n^504In this example, i-tagged 020 fields, c-tagged 09 fields, and n-tagged 504 fields display as hyperlinks. The caret ('^') character matches against the beginning of a line, so n^504 will match with:n504 |aBibliography: p. [125]but not with:n50504|aHistory of Europe

NOTE

When defining the HOTLINK Web option, Innovative recommends using the HOTLINK=<field tag>^<MARC tag>,<field tag>^<MARC tag>,... format. While it is possible to omit the caret ('^') for the purpose of achieving a sliding match (i.e., matching of the string against any part of another string) against a MARC tag, Innovative strongly recommends using the <field tag>^<MARC tag> format to avoid unexpected matches. For example, with HOTLINK=n50,the expression "n504" matches "n504 |aBibliography". This setting would also match "n50504|aBibliography", likely an undesirable match in most library systems.

HYPERTEXT_980This option controls whether the Web Server offers MARC 980 fields that contain URLs in subfield 'a' as selectable links. If this option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file, the Web Server will not offer any URLs in 980 fields as links. To offer 980 fields as links, set this option to a TRUE value (1, the characters T, t, Y, or y, or any word beginning with one of these characters).ITEM_NOTE

NOTE

If your library catalog is not configured to display the item record NOTE field in the full record display, contact Innovative to enable this functionality before configuring the ITEM_NOTE Web option.

If your library has been set up to include the item record NOTE field in the full record display summary box, the entire contents of the NOTE field will display in a column within this box. Long notes can distort the box since it will expand vertically to accommodate the entire field. If this option is set to a TRUE value (1, the characters T, t, Y, or y, or any word beginning with one of these characters), then for all NOTE fields longer than 40 characters, only the first 40 characters will display, and a link will be offered to view the entire note. This link calls up a JavaScript Confirm box containing the note's text.

37

Page 42: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

If the ITEM_NOTE option is not defined or is set to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these characters), then the entire note will appear in the summary box and no link is offered to view it.ITEMOUT_MSGThis option specifies the message that displays in the item information frame in place of the due date when a displayed item is currently checked out. For example:ITEMOUT_MSG=Checked Out

NOTE

This message will also display in place of the due date when a patron is viewing his or her own circulation record.

LINK856TEXT[_lang]This option specifies the message that is prefixed to the display of a URL in a bibliographic record MARC 856 field and that displays above the list of image links in the image link field (see Inserting Image Links in Bibliographic Records). If this option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file, the Web Server uses the phrase "Click on the following to:". For example, if the following 856 field were in a bibliographic record:856 72 |uwww.lib.gotham.gov|zGotham City LibraryThen the Web Server would offer Gotham City Library as a link using the following phrase:Click on the following to: Gotham City LibraryTo override this default prefix, set the value of this option to the phrase that you want to use instead. For example:LINK856TEXT=Connect toThe 856 field shown above would then be offered as a link using the following phrase:Connect to Gotham City LibraryThis option can vary by language.See also the DISPLAY_856 option.LOC_<Location Code>This option is for use by libraries that want to make the location name in the full record display clickable linking users to a screen providing information about that location. The library uses the W > Edit WWW HTML screens option to create and maintain these Location Information files. The <Location Code> parameter is the Innovative code for the particular location and the value of the option is the name of the specific Location Information file. The <Location Code> parameter must be in lower-case. For example:LOC_main=/screens/info_on_main.htmlAn asterisk can be used as a wildcard at the beginning or end of the <Location Code> parameter to match multiple locations that include the same pattern. For example:LOC_wes*=/screens/wes_locs.htmlThis matches the locations wes, wesaa, wesar, wesca, west, etc. Another example is:LOC_*ref=/screens/ref_locs.html

38

Page 43: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

This matches the locations ref, wref, scref, muref, etc.MARCThis option controls whether patrons have the option to view a displayed record in MARC format. This option accepts the following values:

Value Description

The number 1, the letter t, the letter y, or any word starting with t or y.This value is not case-sensitive.

The system offers a DISPLAY MARC option. Clicking this option displays the record in MARC format.

Staff.This value is not case-sensitive.

The system offers a DISPLAY MARC option for users logged-in as staff. Clicking this option displays the record in MARC format.

The number 0, the letter f, the letter n, or any word starting with f or n.This value is not case-sensitive.

The system does not offer a DISPLAY MARC option in WebPAC.

If this option is not defined, the system uses the following default:MARC=true

RECORDFRAMEThis option controls whether the full bibliographic record display is divided into frames, and, if so, the number of frames to use (2 or 3), and the percentage of the screen to use for each of the frames (see the sample WebPAC displays in the discussion of the Full Record Display). If set up for three frames, the top frame contains navigation tools, such as clickable buttons or text, and forms allowing the entry of another search; the middle frame contains the bibliographic record itself; and the bottom frame contains item information, such as call number, location, and availability status, as well as special options such as item reservation (see the sample display). If set up for two frames, the top frame contains the navigation tools, and the bottom frame contains both the bibliographic record and the item information. If the library chooses not to use frames, all of this information appears in the browser screen together. The syntax for this option for a three-frame display is:RECORDFRAME=<Top Frame %>,<Middle Frame %>,<Bottom Frame %>For a two-frame display, the syntax is:RECORDFRAME=<Top Frame %>,<Bottom Frame %>In both cases, each of the two or three values is a percentage of the screen that the particular frame occupies. The values must total 100 and each must be followed by the '%' character. Some examples are:RECORDFRAME=20%,40%,40%This specifies a three-frame display, with the top frame occupying 20% of the screen, and the middle and bottom frames each occupying 40%.RECORDFRAME=30%,70%

39

Page 44: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

This specifies a two-frame display, with the top frame occupying 30% of the screen, and the bottom frame occupying the remaining 70%.RECORDFRAME=20%,50%,30%This specifies a three-frame display, with the top frame occupying 20% of the screen, the middle frame occupying 50% of the screen, and the bottom frame occupying the remaining 30%.If your organization does not want to use frames, delete or comment out the RECORDFRAME line in hte WEB OPTIONS file. In this case, the holdings will display in a table in the middle of the bibliographic record. The exact holdings data that displays is controlled by the HOLDINGS_POS option.See also the RECORDFRAME_STAFF option, which sets framing parameters for My Millennium "Staff" mode.SHOWORECThis option specifies the conditions under which the order record should appear for retrieved items. The possible values are:

Value Description

no_cdate Display the order record only if the CDATE field in the order record is blank (i.e., the item has not yet been cataloged).

no_rdate Display the order record only if the RDATE field in the order record is blank (i.e., the item has not yet been received).

#days Display the order record for the specified number of days after the item has been received (i.e., the date entered into the RDATE field). For example, if the value for this option is 14, the order record would continue to display for fourteen days after the date entered in RDATE.

If this option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file or is commented out, the order record is suppressed, if any of the following conditions are true:There are item or checkin records attached to the bibliographic recordThere is a date in the bib record's CAT DATE fieldThe bib record's BCODE3 field contains a suppression valueSome examples for this option are:SHOWOREC=no_cdateSHOWOREC=no_rdateSHOWOREC=14SIMILAR_ITEMSThis option controls whether the WebPAC offers a separate screen that lists similar items, including rotated subject headings. When set to a TRUE value (1, the characters T, t, Y, or y, or any word beginning with one of these characters), the WebPAC will offer the similar items screen of all indexes. When set to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these characters) or when this option does not appear in the Web Options file, the similar items screen is not offered.

40

Page 45: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

SUPPRESS_HOLDDISPThis option controls the display of holds lists in the WebPAC. When set to a TRUE value (1, the characters T, t, Y, or y, or any word beginning with one of these characters), the WebPAC will suppress the list of holds on a title that normally appears on the full record display (the x holds on First Copy Returned list). When set to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these characters) or when this option does not appear in the Web Options file, this list of holds always displays for titles that have holds placed on them.WEBPUBDEFThis option controls whether a separate file is used to define the bibliographic record display. When this option is set to a true value (e.g., "true", "TRUE", 't', 'T', or 1) WebPAC uses the Bibliographic Record Display (webpub.def) file to define the bibliographic display. For example:WEBPUBDEF=trueIf this option is set to a false value (e.g., "false," "FALSE," 'f', 'F', or 0), is not defined, or is not set in the WEB OPTIONS file, then WebPAC uses the default bibliographic record display.

Requesting OptionsThis section describes the Web Server Options for the Requesting options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

BIBREQUESTThis option determines whether bibliographic records with no attached items or orders can be requested. This option must be set to a TRUE value (e.g., '1', the characters 'T', 't', 'Y', or 'y', or any word beginning with one of these characters) if the library is set up for Automatic Request Processing and allows requests on bibliographic records that have no attached item or order records. If this option is set to a FALSE value (e.g., '0', the characters 'F', 'f', 'N', or 'n', or any word beginning with one of these characters) or this option does not appear in the Web Options file, bibliographic records without attached item or order records cannot be requested.REQFILLTIME[scope][_P#][_lang]This option allows your organization to display the approximate time before a title-level hold request will be filled. WebPAC calculates the date based on an algorithm determined from a start number defined by your organization. That algorithm is:(<number of holds> * <average loan days>) / <number of items>The value of this option is:REQFILLTIME=<days>|<req msg>|<view msg>|<no hold msg>

Element Description

<days> This element is the average number of days an item is checked out. The number entered in this element is used in the hold fill date algorithm.

<req msg> The element defines the message WebPAC displays when the patron is placing a request. This element accepts a mini-token, %d, which inserts the result of the hold fill date algorithm.

41

Page 46: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

<view msg> The element defines the message WebPAC displays when a patron is viewing holds in their own patron record. This element accepts a mini-token, %d, which inserts the result of the hold fill date algorithm.

<no hold msg> The element defines the message WebPAC displays when an item that has no hold on it meets all of the following conditions:Is not in transitIs not checked outIs not on hold shelfIs requestable

For example:REQFILLTIME=14|<br />Current estimated availability: approximately %d days|<br />Request available in approximately %d days|<br />This material may be immediately availableThis option can vary by scope, patron type (P TYPE), and language.REQUEST[_lang]This option controls the offering of the REQUEST this item option. The syntax for this option is:REQUEST=<Option Text>|<Hold Level>|<Pickup Location>|<NNA Date>

<Option Text>This specifies the text used to offer this option to the user.

<Hold Level>This specifies the "level," or the kind, of hold requested, which may be any one of the following:

bib Bibliographic-level hold (any item attached to the bib record). For multi-volume titles, if the system finds a VOLUME field in any of the attached item records, the patron will be prompted to select a volume to fulfill the request, even if the bib level holds option is specified.Note that if your organization uses the Consortium Management Extensions package (Product Code 313M), only bibliographic-level holds are supported for Regional Holds.

circle Enable request circle hold logic. If the hold level value is "circle", then the "pickup location" is treated as "ask", regardless of the actual value set for "pickup location." See Item Request Circles for more information.

item Item-level hold (hold on a specific item), in which the patron specifies the copy or volume they want.

system Item-level hold in which the system selects the first available copy. For multi-volume titles, if the system finds a VOLUME field in any of the attached item records, the patron will be prompted to select a volume to fulfill the request, even if the system level

42

Page 47: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

holds option is selected. If there are no requestable items available, a bib-level hold is placed.

denyifavail Deny the hold request if the item is available; otherwise place a bibliographic-level hold if the item is requestable (e.g., not suppressed). For multi-volume titles, if the system finds a VOLUME field in any of the attached item records, the patron will be prompted to select a volume to fulfill the request, even if the denyifavail holds option is specified.

denyiflocalavail

Deny the hold request if the login for the requesting client has been assigned a Port Location and any of the item records attached to the bibliographic record has a status of '-' and its location is included in the Locations Served list for the user's login. If the library uses the Library Priority Table and no local copies are available, the system places the request on the available copy with the highest priority at another location. For multi-volume titles, if the system finds a VOLUME field in any of the attached item records, the patron will be prompted to select a volume to fulfill the request, even if the denyiflocalavail holds option is specified.

Localavailelseany

denyifpickupavail***

Places an item-level hold for any copy that is locally available. If no copy is available locally, an item-level request is placed for any available copy at any location (i.e., not just for local copies). If there are no copies available, the system places a bibliographic-level hold for the copy returned soonest. If the library uses the Library Priority Table and no local copies are available, the system places the request on the available copy with the highest priority at another location. Copies are considered "local" if any of the item records attached to the bibliographic record has a status of '-' and its location is included in the Locations Served list for the user's login. This setting overrides any other system settings for placing an item-level hold.

This value behaves identically to the denyiflocalavail value, save that the system performs one additional check: if there is an available item at the selected pickup location, the system denies the request. If there is an item that is not locally available but is requestable, the system behaves identically to the denyiflocalavail value.

This setting works best if matched with the ask pickup location value.

See Allow Patrons or the system to Choose Item for Request for further information on patron requests.

43

Page 48: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

<Pickup Location>This specifies the pickup location as follows:

Ask Ask the patron to specify the pickup location from a drop-down list. If the patron is logged in to My Millennium:The drop-down list defaults to the patron's home library. If the patron's home library has multiple pickup locations, WebPAC uses the first location in the Hold Pickup Locations Table as the default.

item The pickup location is taken from the LOCATION field in the item record or from the checkin location if the item is a journal article.

home The patron's home library is the pickup location.

itemhome If the HOMEPICKUP element of the loan rule is set to N, the patron can select a pickup location for the requested item. If the HOMEPICKUP element of the loanrule is set to Y, the pickup location is determined by the value in the location field in the item record. If the patron is logged in to My Millennium and the HOMEPICKUP element of the loan rule is set to 'n':The drop-down list defaults to the patron's home library. If the patron's home library has multiple pickup locations, WebPAC uses the first location in the Hold Pickup Locations Table as the default.

<NNA Date>Optional element that specifies whether the WebPAC should place a Not Needed After pull-down menu on custom request forms. This is either TRUE (1, the characters T, t, Y, or y, or any word beginning with one of these characters) or FALSE (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these characters). If this element does not appear in the value of the REQUEST option, WebPAC behaves as if it were set to FALSE. The user's chosen NNA date will take precedence over any system-generated NNA date.

NOTE

If you want your system set up to automatically include a Not-Needed-After date when patrons place holds in the OPAC or WebPAC, fill out the Request Worksheet and contact Innovative.

For example:REQUEST=Place a reservation on this item|item|ask|Y

Held Item Delivery Product

If your library has acquired the "Held Item Delivery" product, the setting of the <Pickup Location> element determines which locations appear in the Ship To drop-down list when a patron selects the Pick up Location radio button. See Held Item Delivery for more information.

This option can vary by language.REQUEST_ARTICLE_IFCHKIN

44

Page 49: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

This option controls whether users are prompted for specific journal article information when requesting an item with attached checkin records. When set to a TRUE value (1, the characters T, t, Y, or y, or any word beginning with one of these characters), if a patron requests an item with any attached checkin records (such as periodicals), the system will prompt for information that describes a specific journal article (i.e., the volume and issue number, the article's author and title, etc.).If this option is not set, or is set to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these characters), the user is prompted only if there is one attached checkin card eligible for selection.

NOTE

The user is prompted even if there is no checkin card.

REQUEST_CIRCLE_MSG[_P#][_lang]This option defines the patron types that are not allowed to request outside of the PTYPE's "request circle" and the message that displays to patrons who attempt invalid requests based on their "request circle." For more information on "request circles", see Item Request Circles. This option can vary by patron type (P TYPE) and language.

NOTE

The REQUEST_CIRCLE_MSG option works only if the "hold level" in the REQUEST option is set to circle. If the REQUEST "hold level" field has any value other than circle, WebPAC will ignore the REQUEST_CIRCLE_MSG option.

REQUEST_CIRCLE_PICKUPThis option defines which patrons may select a pickup location for requests within their "circle". This option accepts a comma-delimited list of patron types as a value. For example:REQUEST_CIRCLE_PICKUP=1,4,256In this example, patrons with a PTYPE of 1, 4, and 256 can select a pickup location for requested items. Patrons of any other PTYPE are given a system-generated pickup location.

NOTE

The REQUEST_CIRCLE_PICKUP option only works if the "hold level" in the REQUEST option is set to circle. If the REQUEST "hold level" field has any value other than circle, WebPAC will ignore the REQUEST_CIRCLE_PICKUP option.

REQUEST_INSTRUCTION[_lang]This option specifies the caption for the input box that is presented to the user when an item is requested. For example:REQUEST_INSTRUCTION=Please enter your requestThis option can vary by language.REQUEST_MULTI[_lang]This option is available to libraries with the Batch Requesting enhancement.

45

Page 50: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

This option is identical in form to the REQUEST option. All fields perform the same function except the "Option Text" field. The data entered in the "Option Text" field of the REQUEST_MULTI option defines the title of the Batch Requesting page, and, if the BUT_REQUEST_MULTI option is not defined, defines the text used for the "Request Multi" option on the "Book Cart" screen. If this option is not defined, WebPAC will not offer Batch Requesting.

Held Item Delivery Product

If your library has acquired the "Held Item Delivery" product, the setting of the <Pickup Location> element determines which locations appear in the Ship To drop-down list when a patron selects the Pick up Location radio button. See Held Item Delivery for more information.

This option can vary by language.

Reserves OptionsThis section describes the Web options for the Reserves options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

RSRV_FORMATWhen this option is set to a true value (i.e., any word starting with t, T, y, Y, or the number 1) then WebPAC offers the format column in the reserves table. If this option is set to a false value (i.e., any word starting with f, F, n, N, or the number 0), then WebPAC will not offer the format column in the reserves table. If this option is not defined, WebPAC uses the following default setting:RSRV_FORMAT=trueRSRV_HEADERThis option controls the header display for the reserves list. For example:RSRV_HEADER=Reserves ListRSRV_ITEMTYPEThis option controls the display of the duration for a course reserve. When this option is set to a true value (any word starting with t, T, y, Y, or the number 1) then the WebPAC offers an Item Type column in the reserves table. This column displays a column showing the label associated with the item type.If this option is set to a false value (any word starting with f, F, n, N, or the number 0), or is not defined, the system does not display an Item Type column in the reserves table.

Saving and Exporting OptionsAs a user retrieves records from the database, the WebPAC offers options to mark records for export (see Export Marked Records in the Optional OPAC Features section). When records have been marked, a separate option is used to export the marked records in one of several formats. The following options control the types of export formats and delivery methods available to the user.

NOTE

46

Page 51: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

If your organization uses Procite/EndNote, see Fields exported in ProCite/End Note Refer format (Innovative Guide and Reference #101906) for more information on displaying fields used by these services.

BRIEF_EXPORTThis option specifies which bibliographic record fields to export when the user chooses the Brief export format (the BRIEF_EXPORT_CHKIN option specifies the checkin record fields to export). The value for this option is a list of field group tags and, optionally, the MARC tag, indicators, and subfield list of the fields to export. The field specifiers are separated by the vertical bar character ('|'). A maximum of 100 field specifiers can appear in the list. The order in which the fields are listed determines the order in which they are exported. The format for this option is:BRIEF_EXPORT=<ftag>[:<mtag>/<subf>][,<mtag>/<subf>...]|<ftag>[:<mtag>/<subf>][,<mtag>/<subf>...]..ftagThe field group tag (e.g., t, a, etc.)mtag   (Optional)The MARC tag and optional indicators (e.g., "100", "11011", "245", etc.). Only those fields in the field group whose MARC tag and indicator values match this pattern will be exported. UNIX regular expression syntax may be used to specify patterns. For example, "24[05]" for either "240" or "245" or "70[05]1." for "700" or "705" fields with first indicator value 1 and any second indicator value (the period is a wildcard). The mtag element is preceded by a colon. When exporting non-MARC records, this element and the following subf element are ignored (only the ftag element is used).subf   (Optional)Used only if the mtag element is used. A list of subfields from the field to export (e.g., "abc", "a-h", "a-cflm-z", etc.). The only punctuation allowed is the hyphen, for range specification. This element is separated from the mtag element by a forward slash ('/').Some examples for this option are:BRIEF_EXPORT=a|t|pExports field group tags a, t, and p, in that orderBRIEF_EXPORT=t:2451.|a:[17]00|d|c

Exports field group tags in the following order:t-tagged 245 fields with first indicator value 1 and any second indicator valuea-tagged 100 fieldsa-tagged 700 fieldsfield group tag dfield group tag c

BRIEF_EXPORT_CHKINThis option specifies which checkin record fields to output when the user exports the value for this bibliographic record in Brief format (the BRIEF_EXPORT option specifies the bibliographic record fields to export). The value for this option is a list of field group tags and, optionally, the MARC tag, indicators, and subfield list of the checkin record fields to export. The field specifiers are separated by the vertical bar character. A maximum of 100 field specifiers can appear in the list. The order in which the fields are listed determines the order in which they are exported. The format for this option's value is identical to that for the BRIEF_EXPORT option, but the tags and subfields refer to the checkin record rather than the bibliographic record. Checkin record output is appended to bibliographic record data and identified by its location. If this option is not defined, then no checkin record information is output in the Brief display.EMAILOPThis option specifies options for exporting records via email. Note that this option must be set up in the WEB OPTIONS file to enable exporting via email in WebPAC. The three fields in this line are:EMAILOP=<Subject Line>|<Bounced email Account>|<Diacritic Codetype>

<Subject Line> The default text that appears in the email Subject: header. Users may override this default by entering text in the Subject box in the WebPAC Export Saved Lists menu (see Export Marked Records in the Optional OPAC Features section).

<Bounced email Account> The email account to which bounced email should be returned. This must be set to the account exporter.

<Diacritic Codetype> (OPTIONAL) The coding scheme used for CJK diacritics in email messages. Used only at libraries that have bibliographic records containing CJK characters in their database.

An example is:EMAILOP=From the library Web catalog|exporter|big5EXPORT_SELECT_TABLEThis option controls the methods by which the records may be exported from the database and the formats in which the records are exported. The value for this option is in the form of two fields, separated by a vertical bar as shown below:

48

Page 53: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

EXPORT_SELECT_TABLE=Sendto:<Destination>|Format:<Form>Any combination of values for each of the two fields can be entered, separated by commas. The entered destinations and types appear in the form that the Web Server sends to the browser when users choose to export marked records. Valid values are:

Values for <Destination>

browser

The record is exported in HTML format to the Web browser.

email The record is emailed to the user (see also EMAILOP below).

local The record is saved to the Web browser's local disk drive.

Values for <Form>

full The full record is exported as an ASCII text file.

brief The brief record is exported as an ASCII text file.

marc The record is exported in MARC communications format.

endnote

The record is exported in End-Note format.

procite The record is exported in ProCite format.

An example is:EXPORT_SELECT_TABLE=Sendto:email,local|Format:marc,full,prociteIf this option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file, the Web Server defaults to offering email and local for Destination, and marc and full for Form.XRECTYPEThis option specifies which record types can be exported with the /xrecord command link. For example:XRECTYPE=biThis specifies that only bibliographic (record type 'b') and item (record type 'i') records can be exported with the /xrecord command link.

NOTE

The XRECTYPE option does not support patron or order record types.

Search Results OptionsThis page describes the Web options for the Search Results options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

AUTHMSG[_lang]This option defines the wording of 4xx and 5xx authority redirect messages in search results. The option format is:AUTHMSG=<See reference>|<See Also reference>The redirect messages accept tokens for inserting data into the redirect messages. For example:AUTHMSG=%u -- See %w %a %p|%u -- See Also %w %a %p

%u This is replaced by the search term that the WebPAC is directing away from (i.e., the unauthorized term).

%w This is replaced by a special relationship defined in the AUTHMSG_SR Web option.

%a This is replaced by the search term that the WebPAC is directing to (i.e., the authorized term).

%p This is replaced by the value of the Public General Note in the 680 field of the authority record.

This option accepts HTML formatting.AUTHMSG=<em>%u</em> -- See %w <strong>%a</strong> <span class="authPublicNote">%p</span>|<em>%u</em> -- See Also %w <strong>%a</strong> <span class="authPublicNote">%p</span>If this option is not defined, the system uses the following setting:AUTHMSG=%u -- See %w %a|%u -- See Also %w %aThis option can vary by language.AUTHMSG_SR[_lang]This option controls the display of Special Relationship information from subfield w, byte 0 of the 4xx or 5xx fields to specific result types. The option format is:AUTHMSG_SR=<value><message>|<value><message>|...Where <value> is the value of of subfield w, byte 0 in the authority record (if defined) and <message> is the message to display with the %w token in the AUTHMSG option based on that value. Typical values and associated messages include:

Value Message

A the later heading

B the earlier heading

D the full form of the heading

F a musical composition based on this work

G the narrower term

50

Whatever is entered here is automatically placed inside the HTML <BODY> section of all Web screen files that the Web Server creates. Note that this option does not control display options for the srchhelp_*.html, opacmenu.html, and other HTML pages that the library creates. For example:BODYPARAM=BGCOLOR=#ADEAEAAll elements for this option are entered into a single BODYPARAM value, separated by spaces. For example:BODYPARAM=BGCOLOR=#ADEAEA VLINK=#8C1717 LINK=#00009CIf you have more than one scope on your Innovative server, there can be separate sets of options for each scope, separated by a comma, for example:BODYPARAM=BGCOLOR=#ADEAEA,BGCOLOR=#FFFF0,BGCOLOR=#00000The first entry (#ADEAEA) is for the entire database, the second (#FFFF0) is for the first scope (s1), and so on.Another example is:BODYPARAM=BGCOLOR=#ADEAEA,BGCOLOR=#FFFF0 VLINK=#8C1717,VLINK=#8D2311The first BGCOLOR (#ADEAEA) and VLINK (#8C1717) apply to the entire database, while the second BGCOLOR (#FFFF0) and VLINK (#8D2311) are for the first scope.BRIEF[_itag]This option specifies additional data to display in the first line of a two-line index browse along with the heading that is being searched. This additional data is separated from the heading by spaces and a colon as shown below:HEADING : <BRIEFDATA>Depending on the value of the BRIEF option, the extra data in the first line is one of the following combinations of fields from the bibliographic record:

A   Author. Note that if the search was in the Author index, then the author will not display in the two-line browse.

B   Location (from the bibliographic record)

C   Call Number (from the bibliographic record). Note that if the search was in the Call Number index, then the call number will not display in the two-line

51

browse.

H   The contents of the bibliographic record's 'h' field (LIB HAS)

I   ISBN. Note that if the search was in the ISBN index, then the ISBN will not display in the two-line browse.

J   Journal Title from the 'j' field (used in reference databases only). Note that if the search was in the journal title index, then the title will not display in the two-line browse.

K   Call Number (from the item record). Note that if the search was in the Call Number index, then the call number will not display in the two-line browse.

L   Item Location. Note that the item location displays only when the LOCATION field in the bib record is "multi". Otherwise, the bib record's LOCATION displays. This value must not be used together with the S or T values.

M   CAT DATE in the format mm-yy (used in reference databases only)

O   Material type if the library uses the BCODE1 field in the bibliographic record for this information. A textual label for this field is displayed unless the library has specified a graphic image with the IMAGE_MATTYPEx option that matches the particular material type.

P   Material type if the library uses the BCODE2 field in the bibliographic record for this information. A textual label for this field is displayed unless the library has specified a graphic image with the IMAGE_MATTYPEx option that matches the particular material type.

S   STATUS from the item record. Note that this value must not be used together with the L or T values.

T   Both the LOCATION and STATUS from the item record. Note that this must not be used together with the L or S values.

Y   CAT DATE year in the format yyyy (used in reference databases only)

Any combination of the above values can be specified. For example:BRIEF=CLYThis will display the Call Number, item Location, and CAT DATE year from the bibliographic record to the right of the heading in the first line. If this option does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file, then only the heading that is being searched displays on the first line.A predefined combination of bibliographic record fields can be displayed by specifying one of the following numbers instead of a letter combination:

BRIEF=5 Title, Year, Journal Title, and bib Location

BRIEF=6 Title, Year, Journal Title, and Call Number

BRIEF=7 Title, Year, Journal Title, Call Number, and bib Location

Multiple BRIEF options can be set up, each for a different index tag, by appending an underscore and the index tag character before the '=' character. For example:

BRIEF_a=AL Controls the display of Author (itag 'a') searches

BRIEF_t=CL Controls the display of Title (itag 't ') searches

NOTE

The BRIEF option for the Keyword index must be BRIEF_w to match the case of the tag suffix in the srchhelp_w.html Search Help page. Any entry for BRIEF_W (with the uppercase 'W') is ignored by the WebPAC.

See Extended Display (WebPAC) in the OPAC Display Formats section of this manual for more information on OPAC browse screens.BROWSE[_itag]The BROWSE option specifies the subfields that display on the first line of a two-line Index Browse and Record Browse display and those that display on a one-line browse screen (the second line of two-line record browse screens is controlled by the EXTENDED option).WebPAC determines which field displays on this line. For Index Browses, the field is that which provided the entry in the index for the record. For Record Browses, the field is either the MARC 245 field, if one is present in the record, or the first t-tagged field in the record if there is no 245. This option specifies which subfields from the system-determined field display. It also specifies which of those subfields are presented as "hotlinks" that can be clicked to initiate a search on the contents of that subfield, and which subfields display as regular, nonclickable text.

53

Page 58: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

See Extended Display (WebPAC) in the OPAC Display Formats section of this manual for more information on OPAC browse screens. The value for the BROWSE option consists of one or more three-part elements in the following form (with the subelements separated by the forward slash character):marctag/clickablesubfs/regularsubfs

marctag The MARC tag of the field controlled by this element. This must be the complete MARC tag, without indicators (e.g., 245). If the marctag subelement is empty, then this element controls the display of the first t-tagged field in the record.

clickablesubfs

The subfields to display as hotlinks (e.g., a-f, b-dhkm-p, etc.). The only punctuation allowed is a hyphen, which indicates a range. Numeric subfields are allowed. If this subelement is empty, then subfields 'a' and 'b' are displayed and offered as hotlinks.

regularsubfs

The subfields to display without offering them as hotlinks (i.e., as regular text). The syntax for this subelement is the same as for the clickablesubfs subelement, with only hyphens allowed for punctuation. If this subelement is empty, then subfields 'c' through 'z' are displayed as regular text.

Any of these subelements can be omitted, but the separating forward slash ('/') must be present to mark the subelement's place. For example, "BROWSE=240//cd" would display subfields 'a' and 'b' from the MARC 240 field as hotlinks, and subfields 'c' and 'd' as regular text. Some examples are:BROWSE=245/a-d/efFor MARC 245 fields, the 'a' through 'd' subfields display as hotlinks and subfields 'e' and 'f' display as regular text. No other subfields from this field display.BROWSE=/abef/cg-jNote that the marctag subelement is empty in this example. For the first t-tagged field in the record, the 'a', 'b', 'e', and 'f' subfields display as hotlinks and subfields 'c' and 'g' through 'j' display as regular text. No other subfields from this field display.BROWSE=970/t/Note that the regularsubfs subelement is empty in this example. For MARC 970 fields, the 't' subfield displays as a hotlink and 'c' through 'z' display as regular text. The "marctag/clickablesubfs/regularsubfs" element can be repeated by separating each element with a vertical bar ('|'). For example, the three values shown in the examples above can be combined as shown below:BROWSE=245/a-d/ef|970/t/|/abef/cg-jThe last element ("/abef/cg-j") controls the display of all t-tagged fields that are neither MARC 245 nor MARC 970 as well as all non-MARC fields.Separate BROWSE options can be set up for different index tags by appending an underscore followed by the tag letter as shown below:

BROWSE_a= Controls browse options for the 'a' index

54

Page 59: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

BROWSE_t= Controls browse options for the 't' index

Note that Record Browses always use the BROWSE_t option's setting. An example of a BROWSE_t setting is:BROWSE_t=245/ab/ct|240/abc/txyz|970/t/|/ab/c-zThis setting means:For MARC 245 title fields, the 'a' and 'b' subfields display as hotlinks and the 'c' and 't' subfields display as regular text For MARC 240 title fields, the 'a', 'b', and 'c' subfields display as hotlinks and the 't', 'x', 'y', and 'z' subfields display as regular text For MARC 970 title fields, the 't' subfield displays as a hotlink and subfields 'c' through 'z' display as regular text For all other t-tagged fields, the 'a' and 'b' subfields display as a hotlink and subfields 'c' through 'z' display as regular text Any index tag that does not have a dedicated BROWSE_itag option will display using the generic BROWSE option (i.e., the one without the "_itag" suffix).

NOTES

There can be only one BROWSE option of a given type in the WEB OPTIONS file. For example, there can not be two BROWSE_t options or two generic BROWSE options. All specifications for a particular index tag must appear as the value for a single BROWSE option. The BROWSE option for the Keyword index must be BROWSE_w, to match the case of the tag suffix in the srchhelp_w.html Search Help page. Any entry for BROWSE_W (with the uppercase 'W') is ignored by the WebPAC.For Course Reserve searches by Course, the BROWSE_r option controls the Index Browse and the BROWSE_p option controls the Record Browse. Conversely, for Course Reserve searches by Professor/TA, the BROWSE_p option controls the Index Browse and the BROWSE_r option controls the Record Browse. For Index and Record Browses that are controlled by a BROWSE option, all subfield data comes from the record itself rather than the index. For Index Browses that are NOT controlled by a BROWSE option, the data that displays is taken from the index unless the library's system has been set up to display that field in un-normalized form (i.e., as found in the record itself). Only those subfields of the displayed record that are indexed will display as hotlinks. For Record Browses that are NOT controlled by a BROWSE option, the data that displays is always taken from the record, even if the library's system has been set up to display fields in un-normalized form. The field that displays is either the MARC 245 field or, if one is not in the record, the first t-

tagged field in the record. If there are 'a' and/or 'b' subfields in the field, they will display as hotlinks and all other subfields ('c' through 'z') will display as regular text. If neither 'a' nor 'b' subfields appear in the field, the entire field is presented as a hotlink. If the Record Browse results from a search of the Author index, the WebPAC will display subfield 't' of the MARC 700 field as a hotlink if it is present in the record. All other subfields from the 700 field that are not indexed will also display as hotlinks. If there is no 700 field in the record, the a-tagged field displays. If there are 'a' and/or 'b' subfields in this field, they will display as hotlinks and all other subfields ('c' through 'z') will display as regular text. If neither 'a' nor 'b' subfields appear in the field, the entire field is presented as a hotlink.

BROWSE_HEADERS[_lang]This option controls the text displayed as the column headers for the "Mark," "Medium," and "Number" columns on the browse display page. The format is:BROWSE_HEADERS=<Select>|<Format>|<Number>

<Select> Header for the "Mark" column. If left blank, WebPAC uses the default text of "Mark."

<Format>

Header for the "Medium" column. If left blank, WebPAC uses the default text of "Medium."

<Number>

Header for the "Number" column. If left blank, WebPAC uses the default text of "Num."

An entry of '^' in any of the fields instructs WebPAC to leave the associated header blank. This option can vary by language.DISPLAY_245By default, the WebPAC displays the first t-tagged field in bibliographic records in a Record browse. This option can be used to specify the tags of those indexes for which the MARC 245 field should display in Record browses rather than the first t-tagged field. For example:DISPLAY_245=atdThis means that in the Author (tag 'a'), Title (tag 't'), and Subject indexes (tag 'd'), the 245 field will display in Record browses.Note that this option does not affect the display of index browses or the 970 field (tag 'k').EXTENDED[_<itag>]This option controls the display of the second line of the two-line record browse (the extended display). The first line is controlled by the BROWSE option. In the library's main database, the Year of Publication always displays, unless suppressed with the SUPPRESS_YEAR option (the Year of Publication does not display in reference databases — see values M and Y below). Depending on the value of the EXTENDED option, the second line also displays one or more of the following fields from the bibliographic record:

56

Page 61: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

A   Author. Note that if the search was in the Author index, then the author will not display in the two-line browse.

B   Location (from the bibliographic record). Set the bibliographic record location to "multi" to display a list of item locations set in the L value.

C   Call Number (from the bibliographic record). Note that if the search was in the Call Number index, then the call number will not display in the two-line browse.

F   If the record contains the value 'f' in the BCODE3 field, this indicates that the record is linked to a Full Text record. An option to access the Full Text will appear on the Web page, which can either be text or a graphic button. The name of the GIF file containing this button is specified with the BUT_FULL_TEXT Button command.

This value displays only if the location in the bibliographic record is set to "multi".

57

Page 62: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

U   Title. Display only the title. Note that if the search is performed in the Title index, the system does not display the title in the 2-line browse.

Y   CAT DATE year in the format yyyy (used in reference databases only)

Any combination of the above values can be specified. For example:EXTENDED=CLThis will display the Call Number and item Location from the bibliographic record in the second line.A predefined combination of bibliographic record fields can be displayed by specifying one of the following numbers instead of a letter combination:

EXTENDED=0 Title and Year of Publication

EXTENDED=1 Title, Year, and Location

EXTENDED=2 Title, Year, and Call Number

EXTENDED=3 Title, Year, Location, and Call Number

EXTENDED=4 Title, Year, and Journal Title (used in reference databases)

EXTENDED=5 Title, Year, Journal Title, and bib Location

EXTENDED=6 Title, Year, Journal Title, and Call Number

EXTENDED=7 Title, Year, Journal Title, Call Number, and bib Location

If the EXTENDED option is not defined, the system uses the default value '3' (Title, Year, Location, and Call Number).Multiple EXTENDED options can be set up, each for a different index tag, by appending an underscore and the index tag character before the '=' character. For example:

EXTENDED_a=AL Controls display of Author (itag 'a') searches

EXTENDED_t=CL Controls display of Title (itag 't ') searches

NOTES

The EXTENDED option for the Keyword index must be EXTENDED_w, to match the case of the tag suffix in the srchhelp_w.html Search Help page. Any entry for EXTENDED_W (with the uppercase 'W') is ignored by the

WebPAC.The Course Reserve itags can not have custom EXTENDED options (i.e., EXTENDED_p and EXTENDED_r are not allowed).

See Extended Display (WebPAC) in the OPAC Display Formats section for more information on WebPAC browse screens.HEADING_LENGTHThis option defines the length of a title display before the system will truncate. This option uses the maximum visible length of the title (i.e., it does not count the raw diacritic) to determine the display. For example:HEADING_LENGTH=20This setting gives a maximum title heading display of 20 characters. If this option is not set, the system uses a maximum title heading display of 100 characters.ICON_PROGRAM[scope][_lang]This option defines the image to display for program types in the brief citation display. This option accepts an HTML value that defines the text or an image to use as the link. For example:ICON_PROGRAM=<img src="/screens/program.gif" alt="Program" border="0" />If this option is not defined, the system udoes not display an icon for program types. This option can vary by scope and language.ICON_RESOURCE[scope][_lang]This option defines the image to display for resource types in the brief citation display. This option accepts an HTML value that defines the text or an image to use as the link. For example:ICON_RESOURCE=<img src="/screens/resource.gif" alt="Resource" border="0" />If this option is not defined, the system does not display an icon for resource types. This option can vary by scope and language.INDEX_EXTThis option forces browse screens for particular indexes to default to the extended (two-line) browse format rather than the brief browse format. The user can switch to brief browse format by selecting the Brief Display option. This option is typically used with call number indexes. Some examples are:

INDEX_EXT=c Browse display defaults to two-line mode if the user is searching in the index associated with tag 'c'

INDEX_EXT=c,g,o Browse display defaults to two-line mode if the user is searching in one of the indexes associated with tags 'c', 'g', or 'o'

NOTE

If the Course Reserve 'p' (professor) tag appears in this option's value, then the second line of the two-line browse for searches on this index will display the Course information. Similarly, if the 'r' tag (course) appears, then the second line of the two-line browse for searches on this index will display the Professor information.

See Extended Display (WebPAC) in the OPAC Display Formats section for more information on WebPAC browse screens.ITEMS_MSG_BRIEF[_lang]This option allows libraries to customize the Additional Copies message the system displays in a brief citation. (Innovative Guide and Reference #106894) The value is:ITEMS_MSG_BRIEF=[text]Where [text] is the alternate message indicating there are additional copies available in a brief citation display. When this option is defined, the system displays the text as a link to a list of the additional copies. If this option is not defined, the system displays the following default text to indicate there are additional copies related to an entry in the brief citation display:There are additional copies/volumes of this itemMEDIAWhen this option is defined, the WebPac displays an extra column in all browse screens except Brief Index browses and authority record browses. The content of this column is the material type for each item in the browse list. If the IMAGE_MATTYPEx options are defined, the GIF specified with the IMAGE_MATTYPEx option that matches each item's type appears in this column; otherwise the text descriptions of the material types appear. The value of the MEDIA option is either 1 or 2 to indicate which of the two BCODE fixed-length fields indicate material type on the system. For example:

MEDIA=1 Material type in the BCODE1 field

MEDIA=2 Material type in the BCODE2 field

NO_COPIES[scope][_lang]This option specifies the "No Copies Available" system message associated with holdings in a bibliographic record. The option format is:NO_COPIES=[text]Where [text] is the message for the system to display if there are no items available when associated with a bibliographic record. For example:NO_COPIES=Currently no copies availableIf this option is not defined, the system uses the following default:NO_COPIES=No Copies AvailableThis option can vary by scope and language.

REDIRECT_7XX7XX fields on authority records (when indexed) allow libraries to offer redirects to equivalent headings in the WebPac. 7XX fields are generally used for versions of the 1XX heading in alternate languages or character sets. When used, WebPAC provides a results set on searches that match the search term, including links to all bibliographic records in the database, regardless of whether those records contain the 1XX heading or the 7XX heading. This option controls the offering of authority redirects using authority record 7XX fields as follows:Searches matching the 1XX field return search results with an "equivalent heading" redirect to the 7XX field.Searches matching a 4XX field return a "see" redirect to the 1XX field and a "See equivalent heading" redirect to the 7XX field(s).Searches matching a 5XX field return search results, a "see also" redirect to the 1XX field, and a "See also equivalent heading" redirect to the 7XX field(s).Searches matching a 7XX field return search results, an "equivalent heading" redirect to the 1XX field and to the other 7XX field(s).The option format is:REDIRECT_7XX=<true or false>When this option has a true value (TRUE, true, t, 1, Y, or y), the WebPac conducts authority redirects. If this field has a false value ( FALSE, false, f, 0, N, or n), or the option does not exist in the WEB OPTIONS file, 7XX redirects are not offered.SORT_BROWSE[scope][_lang]

NOTE

This option does not work with keyword searches.

This option controls the sort options offered to users and the labels associated with those sort options. This option also defines the order in which the sorts are offered to users. The format is:SORT_BROWSE=<code>:<label>|<code>:<label>|<code>:<label>|...The <code> element is case-insensitive. Valid codes are:

Code Sort Type

C Chronological

R Reverse Chronological

N Call Number

SORT_MEDIA[scope]This option controls the preferred sorting order for material types. A material type (m) option must exist in the SORT_BROWSE option and material type must display in the browse for SORT_MEDIA to work. The format is: SORT_MEDIA=<material type code>The <material type code> is the material type code fixed-length field in the bibliographic record. The material type codes are sorted in the order they are listed in this option. If this option is not defined, and material types are included in the SORT_BROWSE option, then material types sort in alphabetical order, by default. This option can vary by scope.SUPPRESS_YEARThis option is used to control the display of the Year column in browse displays. If this option is not present in the WEB OPTIONS file or is set to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these characters), then the Year column will display. To suppress the display of the Year column, set the value of this option to a TRUE value (1, the characters T, t, Y, or y, or any word beginning with one of these characters).

Staff OptionsThis section describes the Web options for the Staff options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

MILCAT_PUB_VIEWThis option specifies the message that displays on the screen when a user edits a bibliographic record but does not save it before viewing the record in the public display (by using the View | Public Display menu option in Millennium). For example:MILCAT_PUB_VIEW=Mocked up view of bibliographic record. Links are unreliable.RECORDFRAME_STAFFThis option controls whether the full bibliographic record display in My Millennium Staff mode is divided into frames and, if so, the number of frames to use (2 or 3), and the percentage of the screen used for each of the frames. The syntax of the RECORDFRAME_STAFF option is the same as that for the RECORDFRAME option. For example:RECORDFRAME_STAFF=20%,40%,40%This specifies a three-frame display, with the top frame occupying 20% of the screen, and the middle and bottom frames each occupying 40%.RECORDFRAME=30%,70%

When a patron logs into the WebPAC by using the My Millennium feature, the system checks the patron's PTYPE against the values in this option and, if the PTYPE is included in the STAFF value, the user is offered the My Millennium Staff mode. The value of the STAFF option is specified as a single number (e.g., 0), a list of numbers separated by commas (e.g., 1,2,5,15), a beginning and ending value separated by a hyphen (e.g., 1-34), or a combination of the two forms (e.g., 1,3,5-12,34,37,51-63). For example:STAFF=0-3,11

NOTE

Staff PTYPEs defined in this option will not "time out" of WebPAC sessions.

STAFF_LOGGEDIN_MSG[scope][_lang]This option allows library staff to customize the staff "you are logged in as" message in My Millennium. The option takes HTML tags, allowing for customization of font and color. This option accepts two "%s" placeholders in the setting, the first %s for the library name and the second for the patron name. For example:STAFF_LOGGEDIN_MSG=You are STAFF logged into %s as %sThus, staff member Jane Smith at Western Public Library would get the following message:You are STAFF logged into Western Public Library as Jane SmithThe %s placeholders only work in succession. You cannot use the %s placeholder for the patron name without first using it for the library name. This option can vary by scope and language.

SMS OptionsThis page describes the Web options for the SMS Alerts (Innovative Guide and Reference #107950) product. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

ICON_SMSTERMS[scope][_lang]This option defines the display properties for the link to the Terms and Conditions file (sms_terms.html). This option accepts an HTML value that defines the text or an image to use as the link. For example:ICON_SMSTERMS=<strong>Terms & Conditions</strong>

RESSERV_PORTThis option specifies the port to which WebPAC redirects WebBridge resolution server requests. WebBridge resolution server requests are forwarded from WebPAC to the resolution server based on the setting of this option. For example:RESSERV_PORT=4551In this example, a request to http://<Innovative Server>/resserv will be forwarded to http://<Innovative Server>:4551/resserv.If this option is not set, or does not appear in the WEB OPTIONS file, WebPAC redirects WebBridge resolution server requests to port 4550.TIMEOUT_WEBBRIDGE_EDITThis option specifies the timeout period for the WebBridge Management menu. The default is 15 minutes. Note that the client times out 2 minutes before the setting of this option to ensure that the client times out before the server. The setting is in seconds. The maximum setting is 10800 seconds.WBHEADERTEXTThis option specifies the header text in the WebPAC resource panel. The format of this option is:WBHEADERTEXT=<header information>This option accepts a #HEADER# placeholder for inserting text to customize the information display. For example:WBHEADERTEXT=More information about #HEADER#In this example, the popup panel shows the header: "More information about <title of bibliographic record>."

Z39.50 OptionsThis section describes the Web options for the Z39.50 options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.NOTE

For Z39.50 searches made from the main WebPAC running on port 80, the

68

Page 73: Web OPAC Details - Innovative Interfaces · Web viewTo disable the applet, set this option to a FALSE value (0, the characters F, f, N, or n, or any word beginning with one of these

Innovative machine by default connects the client browser to port 211, where a separate Web Server is running. The Web Server running on port 211 will then make the connection to the selected Z39.50 server and perform the Z39.50 to HTTP translation. When users disconnect from the Z39.50 Web Server on port 211, they are redirected back to the main Web Server on port 80. The system performs similar port mapping for each additional Web Server running on the machine (e.g., for a Web Server running on port 2080, the corresponding Z39.50 server is on port 2211). These default ports can be overridden with the Z39PORT option.Your organization must have the Z39.50 Broadcast Search product in order to use all of the functionality of the Z39.50 Database Options listed on this page.

Z39BROADCAST[_lang]This option specifies the text to display as a title at the top of the browser screen and the text presented to users as instructions for entering a Z39.50 broadcast search. Two fields appear in the value of this option, separated by a colon:Z39BROADCAST=<Title Text>:<Instruction Text>For example:Z39BROADCAST=Z39.50 Broadcast Search:Please select the Z39.50 servers to which you want to send your searchThis option can vary by language.Z39IPOKThis option is used in tandem with the Z39RESTRICT option to restrict certain Z39.50 servers to a specific set of Web browsers, based on their IP address. The value of the Z39RESTRICT option is a list of one or more Z39.50 servers and databases in the form <server>/<database>, where <server> is the Server code for the database and <database> is the Database code, both from the Z39.50 Servers file. Multiple servers and databases may be entered, using a semicolon as a separator. For example:Z39RESTRICT=Melvyl/TEN;libcong/booksIn this example, restrictions are applied to the Melvyl Ten Year and Library of Congress Books databases. Note that the Server code and Database code must exactly match the data entered into the Z39.50 Servers file, with the same usage of uppercase and lowercase letters. For example, if the Z39.50 Servers file contains the Server code "Melvyl", then the value in the Z39RESTRICT option must be "Melvyl" and not "melvyl" or "MELVYL".The servers and databases listed in the Z39RESTRICT option will be available only to Web browsers whose IP address matches the pattern specified in the Z39IPOK option:Z39IPOK=255.255.255.*Multiple IP addresses may be entered for Z39IPOK, separated by a semicolon. For example:Z39IPOK=255.255.255.*;155.155.155.*Z39MULTIIf your organization has acquired the Z39.50 "Broadcast" mode, the broadcast mode may also be offered in the WebPAC (see the /z39m command Link and the

69

Z39BROADCAST option). This option controls options for Z39.50 Broadcast mode in the WebPAC. Two fields appear in the value for this option, separated by a colon:Z39MULTI=<Max All>:<Max One>

<Max All> This field sets the maximum number of records that users can retrieve from all Z39.50 servers chosen for the broadcast

<Max One> This field sets the maximum number of records that users can retrieve from any one Z39.50 server in the list of those chosen for the broadcast

For example:Z39MULTI=500:100Z39PORTThis option is used when the library offers Z39.50 searching in the WebPAC. It matches the port used for the standard WebPAC process to the port used for searching Z39.50 databases. The system uses this information to determine the port to which it should connect after returning from searching Z39.50 databases. The format of this option is:Z39PORT=<s_port>:<z39_port>where <s_port> is the port on which the standard WebPAC process runs (e.g., 80) and <z39_port> is the port for Z39.50 searches (e.g., 211). For example:Z39PORT=80:211If the library offers more than one WebPAC (e.g., for alternate languages or character sets), multiple <s_port>:<z39_port> pairs may be entered into the option's value by separating them with a vertical bar character. For example:Z39PORT=80:211|2080:2211In the example shown above, the Z39.50 WebPAC server running on port 211 will return to port 80 when users discontinue Z39.50 searching. Similarly, the Z39.50 WebPAC server running on port 2211 will return to port 2080 when users discontinue Z39.50 searching.

NOTE

The Z39PORT option does not control the port on which the Z39.50 Web server(s) run. It only controls the port to which these servers return after disconnecting. The URL that takes users to the z39menu.html page(s) must include the port for the corresponding Z39.50 Web Server : <A HREF=http://www.yourlibrary.edu:211/screens/z39menu.html>

Z39RESTRICTThis option is used in tandem with the Z39IPOK option to restrict certain Z39.50 servers to a specific set of Web browsers, based on their IP address. For example:Z39RESTRICT=Melvyl/TEN;libcong/books

70

In this example, restrictions are applied to the Melvyl Ten Year and Library of Congress Books databases. For example:Z39IPOK=255.255.255.*;155.155.155.*Z39SEARCHThis option controls the display of the Z39.50 search link or button. If this option appears in the WEB OPTIONS file, then a "Z39.50 Search" menu item or button will appear on all WebPAC screens that present results of a search. Users can select this menu item or button to repeat the current search on one or more Z39.50 servers. Note that the settings of the Z39RESTRICT, Z39IPOK, and Z39MULTI options affect this option. The library must have the Z39.50 Broadcast Searching product in order to use this option. The value of this option is a list of one or more Z39.50 servers and databases in the following form:Z39SEARCH=<server>:<database>,[<server>:<database>...]where <server> is the Server code for the database and <database> is the Database code, both from theZ39.50 Servers file. Multiple servers and databases may be entered, using a comma as a separator. For example:Z39SEARCH=OCLC2:WorldCat,Melvyl:CAT,BOSTC:BCAT

NOTE

If only a single server and database are specified, the line must be terminated with a comma as in the following example:

Z39SEARCH=Melvyl:CAT,

To use a graphic button rather than a textual prompt, specify a GIF file with the BUT_Z39SEARCH option.

Language Handling OptionsThis section describes the Web options for the Language Handling options group. Review these options to determine any necessary setup that your organization might need to perform.

DIACLISTSpecifies the valid coding schemes that can be selected with the /weblang command link. The value of this option is a list of coding schemes and a textual description of the coding scheme in the following form:DIACLIST=<codescheme>;<descript>|<codescheme>;<descript>[...]
