II. OVER-ALL DESCRIPTION/PROFILE OF THE SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY
A. HISTORY OF THE BARANGAY
In 1910, Barangay Tranca is formerly known as “CANBANTOC” which was just an agricultural land. Only about five to seven families were living and mostly head of the families were jobless so children were undernourished. In 1912, migrants started to come in. some of them were said to be wicked because they robbed people of their properties. Feeling that they were no longer safe from the notoriety of some, people decided to build fence in front of their houses which was called “TARANGKAHAN”. Thus, the name Canbantoc was changed to Tarangkahan and shortened to “TRANCA”.
Another story came out from an old folk that tells about the origin of Tranca. Once there was a rich man named Don Cirilo. He owned carabaos and cows grazing freely along the forest. Bandits stole the man’s animals. For this reason, Don Cirilo decided to build fence between the forest of Tranca and the neighboring barrios to keep his animals safe. The gate or fence was called by people tarangkahan that is why it is called Tranca up to these days.
B. COMMUNITY PROFILE
Barangay Tranca is one of the 15 barangays of Bay, Laguna. It has a land area of 436 hectares where 251, 277.65 square meters are agricultural land while 72, 581.90 square meters are residential areas. At present 10 hectares are being used by the University of the Philippines, Los Baños, Laguna for their experimental projects. The soil is fertile. Land areas are plain while others are slope. Variety of plants grows well like lanzones, rambutan, banana, coconut trees, coffee and almost all kinds of vegetables and ornamental plants due to soil fertility and good climate.
Tranca is bounded in the west by Barangay Sta. Cruz; Masaya in the east; Puypuy at south and Paciano Rizal in the north. It is near Mt. Makiling and belongs to the so –called upland areas like Puypuy, Masaya, Paciano Rizal, Sta. Cruz and Bitin. The barangayn is subdivided into four zones. Zone 1 includes the plaza where Daycare Center and basketball court are located. Zone 2 includes CARD Bank and a Chapel. Zone 3 includes Tranca Elementary School, Health Center, another chapel, main office of CARD-MRI and an NGO office. The irrigation tank is located in Zone 4.
It is 6 kilometers away from the town proper. Means of transportation are tricycles, jeepneys while buses and private vehicles pass through coming or going to Barangay Bitin where geothermal plant is located.
C. HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
Tranca Elementary School was established in 1918. It is said to be the first public elementary school in the whole district of Bay so it is the oldest school among the 14 public elementary schools. It has a land area of 14, 800 square meters donated by Don Mariano Delfino and family.
Initially, it has only one building which is Gabaldon Building that housed pupils from Grades I – VI. Today, the school has already six buildings.

B. SCHOOL COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP
School community partnership including parents of the pupils should maintain and strengthen the relationship to work hand and hand for the improvement of the school as well as the development of the pupils. The school personnel seek the help of parents, the community and barangay officials to raised funds or donations for the programs and projects of the school for the benefit of the school children.
VIII. RESOURCE GENERATION FUND
The school has no sufficient budget for the maintenance and improvement of the school facilities. With the help and support of the parents and the barangay some of the school projects are being accomplished.
The budget from the MOOE is used for the school supplies and other needs. The Local School Board from the Municipality is used for other school needs.
