Dear Pleasant Grove UMC Members,We wanted to thank you very much for
organizing a fun-filled Easter Egg Hunt for our children! They enjoyed having the "Tree" story read to them (which led to later discussions), playing the games, hunting for the many eggs & getting lots of candy. We all appreciated the lunch provided & the packages of gum given! Seeing the Easter Bunny was wonderful! We wanted to thank all of you for your time in making the Easter celebration extra special for our children. Keep up the great work-our family really appreciates it!
Thank you,The Ritchey Family

A ROOSTER
The Lord used a rooster to convict Peter. (Luke 22:60) The Master can use any Christian following the rules adhered to by the rooster.
1. He rises early and begins his God given task.2. He does not refuse to crow because he cannot sing
like a canary.3. He energetically does that which is never praised. No one says his crow is wonderful.4. He awakens sleepers: this in unpopular but necessary.5. He is dependable and persistent, always on time.6. He is a proclaimer of good news - the arrival of a new day with God given privileges and responsibilities.7. He never complains about having to do the common task.
He does not worry about pay.
Christians could learn a lot from the Rooster.
With Love to MotherThe Gentle Light
Mother of mine, Light of My soul, ever inspiring me to a higher goal.
You who are so dear to me,when I look at you, what do I see?
I see a woman, yea, but more, by far, sunshine and moonlight and a star.I see human feelings, joy, pain and
fear, a gentle smile and a hidden tear.I see strength, too, and the courage
to be meek; a helping hand to those whoare weak; a kindly word, a spring shower,
to song of a bird and a dewy flower.I see a soul shining there
that can only be true and fair;the soft music of a dear old hymn,a heart full of love blest by Him.
I see sacrifices made for me, anddreams imprisoned that mine might be free;a Mother whose motto o'er life's stormy sea
is "Jesus, Savior, pilot me."

Called To Be A Mother
We're never really ready to be parents. In fact, once you've had children you know you are not ready. I've been a parent for over thirty years and often I still feel like a failure. That's where dependence on the Lord comes in. Rely on God for the strength that you need. We must trust God to provide for the unknown, the unexpected, the unpredictable.
As a mother, your life is given to taking care of people-small ones, to begin with, whose wants never seem to cease. Sometimes when your days seem to be wholly taken up with wiping things. Things like dishes and sinks, little runny noses and big slow tears. you wonder about what "fulfillment" is supposed to mean to you. You wonder about being not only the perfect wife and mother, the hostess-with-the-mostest, creative, intellectually productive, beautiful...and slowly your dreams seem to evaporate.
Motherhood is a calling. Not all women are called to be a mother. However, God has the highest regard for all of humanity. We must remember to treat our children, our wives, and our husbands as a gift from God.
The Scriptures reveal a scarcity of a certain kind of woman-the godly woman. Who is a godly woman? She is more than just a Christian.
I believe the basis for being a godly woman is to be yielded to God. As a result of this yielding, there is a Christlikeness in her life. Proverbs 31:10 says, "Who can find a virtuous (godly) woman? For her price is far above rubies."
This Mother's Day be sure to honor the mother in your life.
Happy Mother's Day,
Pastor Gordon
