Sixth Form Transition Task: Psychology

Below you will find a number of tasks to complete. All these tasks are relevant to your future study of Psychology which will begin in September 2020. These tasks are to be completed over the summer

and sent to me via email [email protected] by the deadline given by Mrs Dunn. They also need to be printed out if possible

Essay questionFind out about any one of the following approaches in Psychology and write a 400-600 words outline/description of that approach. As part of the description you will need to write about the assumptions (how each approach explains human behaviour). Pick one of the following:

1. Cognitive approach2. Behaviourist approach

You need to reference all the sources of information used and provide a word count. Please do not copy and paste information. You will have to look at the specification (link is below) to find the names of the assumptions in each approach (Component 1).

Short answer questions1. Who were the juvenile thieves (Bowlby)? 2. Who was Milgram and what did he do?3. What is the most scientific research methods used in Psychology? Why? 4. Calculate the mean, median and mode of the following data – please show all calculations:

PowerPoint taskAs part of the first unit you will learn about core pieces of research associated with each of the above approaches: one of which is Myers, D.G. and Diener, E. (1995) Who is happy?

Your task is to create a PowerPoint presentation about this study. 7 slides: The slides need to make reference to the aim, method used, the procedure,

the results and the conclusion of the research. You will be judged on the quality of your research and the succinctness of your presentation. All sources of information must be cited on the 7th slide. A variety of sources are needed at least 5 these can be articles, podcasts, you tube
