Anthony WeedenConductor/Composer/OrchestratorAnthony Weeden is a conductor, composer and orchestrator with a keen desire to step beyond traditional musical boundaries. A classically-trained musician, Anthony is particularly renowned for his award-winning work in the film and television industry, orchestrating and conducting several of the late, great Jóhann Jóhannsson’s scores: The Theory of Everything (Golden Globe winner for Best Original Score in 2015), Sicario (OSCAR and BAFTA nominated for Best Original Music), Arrival (BAFTA nominated for Best Original Music), and most recently The Mercy, starring Colin Firth. Anthony’s new orchestral suite arranged from Jóhann Jóhannsson’s Arrival score, was premiered at the BBC Proms in 2019. Anthony’s own scores, composed for new films ບໍ່ມີວັນຈາກ The Long Walk (a Mattie Do film), and Leap of Faith (William Friedkin on The Exorcist), will both premiere in Venice this September – The Long Walk for Giornate degli Autori (Venice Days) and Leap of Faith has been selected for the 76th Venice International Film Festival. September also sees The Long Walk’s premiere at Toronto International Film Festival.Anthony has notably orchestrated Thomas Adès’ first film ‘Colette’ (starring Keira Knightley) which was released in autumn 2018 and premiered at the London Film Festival, and in summer 2018 he conducted and orchestrated the soundtrack for upcoming historical thriller The Delivered starring Charles Dance, Maxine Peake and Freddie Fox. Anthony recently composed the trailer music for blockbuster new game Jurassic World: Evolution by Frontier Developments, and orchestrated the score for the Chinese animation Kung Food. Upcoming conducting work includes his debuts with the London Philharmonic Orchestra (at the Royal Festival Hall), and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Anthony has also directed orchestras such as the Swedish Radio Symphony, Danish National Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Metropole Orchestra and BBC Concert Orchestra. In 2017 he created and conducted Philharmonia Orchestra’s ‘Spielberg at 70’ celebrations at the Royal Festival Hall - his debut with the orchestra, which lead to an immediate re-invitation. He has made several appearances with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and in 2017 conducted a month-long ‘Toyota Classics’ tour of South East Asia with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. Other recent conducting engagements include appearances with the Royal Philharmonic, Duisburg Philharmoniker, Malaysian Philharmonic, RTE, Royal Scottish National and Ulster orchestras.Anthony continues to assist in major projects for the film, television and gaming industries; further collaborations are planned with celebrated composers including Tarik O’Regan, this following the recent premiere of The Phoenix for Houston Grand Opera which was jointly orchestrated by Anthony. Other collaborations of note have included David Arnold and Michael Price’s scores to BBC TV series ‘Sherlock’ (Emmy Award, 2014), Jekyll and Hyde and Unforgotten. Anthony orchestrated and conducted Rael Jones’ score for recent film My Cousin Rachel, starring Rachel Weisz. Anthony has collaborated with Blair Mowat on Class and on O’Regan’s ballet Mata Hari.
