Autumn fun activities continue this week! Your child will participate in a pumpkin carving demonstration, read special fall stories and make several arts and crafts projects in class.

On Friday, your child may come dressed in his or her Halloween costume. We will sing various autumn and Halloween songs.

The children will walk through the fun and safe “Haunted Hall” in the Children’s Wing for tricks and treats!

We want to be considerate of families that do not participate in Halloween activities. Please see your child’s teachers to ensure s/he participates in the non-holiday themed alternate activity.

Coming! What is the LCAP

and What Does It Mean for You?The Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) instituted by Governor Jerry Brown requires that districts develop a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). What this means for you is that schools want to consult with parents and other stakeholders regarding school and district needs as part of the planning process to gain valuable feedback on school programs and needs.

As a result, PUENTE will hold meetings to consult with stakeholders in regards to sharing ideas to help all students become successful. Our task is to collectively review goals and discuss action steps we have taken to implement the goals. We seek feedback on what has worked, what we should enhance and/or add and we focus on what will improve educational outcomes for our sub-groups; English Learners, Foster and Homeless Youth, and Economically Disadvantaged Youth.

Help Us Enforce Safety Procedures

Early Departures During School Day:Please let Mrs. Graciela know as soon as possible when your child is to leave school before the regular dismissal time. Your child will be waiting to be picked up in the Charter office at the designated time. The school will not release a child to anyone other than the parent, legal guardian, or adult listed on the school record. PUENTE Charter School encourages all doctor and dental appointments be made after the instructional day has ended, if possible.

Late Arriving Students:

If your child arrives after 7:45 a.m., s/he is late. The Car Line procedure continues until 7:45 am. If your child arrives after 7:45 am, please walk your child to the morning assembly in the multipurpose room.

If your child arrives after the morning assembly, the hallway doors in the children’s wings will be locked for safety purposes. Please go the Charter Office and initial the late arrival form. Mrs. Graciela will walk all late arriving children to their class.

Notes to Parents

We hope you had fun making your scarecrows! The Scarecrow Gallery located upstairs looks FABULOUS! What a wonderful display of school pride! 80 kindergarten families and 62 preschool families participated! 142 scarecrows are on display upstairs!

Please know that all participants will receive a special surprise. The grand prize winner will be presented with a beautiful harvest basket full of goodies at our next family meeting on Tuesday, November 14.

Families, this is the list of kindergarten children who entered the Scarecrow Contest. If your child’s name is not on the list, please see Mrs. Juarez , immediately.

Mark your calendars! “Western Rodeo Night” is scheduled for Tuesday, November 14, beginning promptly at 6:15 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room!

At the meeting, we will recognize children who had perfect attendance for the month of October.

We look forward to all families joining us on this special night. Come dressed in your best western outfit!

Remember, the scarecrow contest winners will be announced on this night! The winner must be present!

Tuesday, October 31, 2017Free Scary Face Pancakes on Halloween! “Dia de los Muertos” or Day of the Dead is the Mexican celebration of All Souls Day with a history that goes back to indigenous roots. Traditions include caring for the graves of family members, building elaborate altars to loved ones who have passed on and respectful celebrations of the dead with processions, dances and music.
