*Tryouts are $50 for new players to Bandits.*All players must submit an application to [email protected] by August 1st to be considered .

Birmingham Bandits is a Travel Lacrosse Program going into its 5th season. The boys have had a lot of success in highly competitive tournaments while developing close friendships with teammates. This year we anticipate fielding teams with player graduation years of 2026, 2027, 2028, and 2029.

What are our priorities? Developing athletes that can compete as part of a team. Team work, work ethic, and respect are some of our most important values. Helping each player to realize their full lacrosse potential. Developing lacrosse players that understand lacrosse at a very high level. Developing lasting friendships and making great memories.

How is our Team different? We develop a player’s ability to understand lacrosse at the youngest levels. Our

philosophy is to increase a player’s lacrosse IQ such that they understand the game and can play unscripted lacrosse.

We break down and teach complex college-level lacrosse concepts at the earliest ages and make them easy to understand.

Our Coaching Staff is highly qualified – all Coaches played lacrosse in college, and most are active players. This translates to a highly sophisticated lacrosse learning atmosphere.

Our practices are up-tempo, small-sided, with a concentration on frequent touches on the ball and continuous player engagement.

We offer a full-year experience with ample off-season training opportunities, both on the individual and team level.

We advocate for multi-sport athletes and will not interfere with other sports outside of the travel lacrosse season.

We seek to field the most competitive teams possible in Alabama and to play in the most competitive tournaments across the country.

We are putting Birmingham on the map in regards to club lacrosse! The Bandits was recently named the #1 ranked program in Alabama by US Club Lacrosse

What does the season consist of? Offers to join a Bandits Team will enable play with us from Sept. 1, 2020 to Aug.

1, 2021. We will try to field Elite and Select Teams at each graduation year level except

for 2029(only one team at this level) We will have small sided pickup style lacrosse this Fall – new! The purpose is to

increase the time the boys spend playing unscripted and minimally coached lacrosse.

Mandatory Tournaments

***We do not plan on including indoor Box Lacrosse as part of the annual fee this year due to COVID restrictions on indoor play. We may still have Box opportunities, but we will do this as a separate experience if there is interest.

What am I committing to?1. Attendance at ALL MANDATORY TOURNAMENTS and preceding practices!

We will field a consistent and predictable team at every tournament. We enter lean teams to maximize playing time and so each player MUST COMMIT to all tournaments listed for the team they are chosen. This year we will also likely field a NATIONAL team to play in national tournaments. When you complete your application, you will need to indicate if your child can commit to playing on the National Team if he is selected. The National Team will be invite only.

2. Fall pickup – you may opt out of this if other sports conflict but it is included in the price.

3. Attendance at all practices unless conflicts with other season-appropriate sports.

Fall Pick-Up (Included in season cost)!!!!Given the lack of game play last season, we are planning on offering small sided pickup style lacrosse for this fall. This will be minimally coached and likely what the boys enjoy

The tryout will consist of an analysis of each player in various drills and in scrimmage situations. Current skill/lacrosse IQ, attitude/hustle, and athleticism/potential for the future will be used to make offers to teams.

Players must declare a position that they will try out for – offers to join teams are often limited by balancing position numbers – typically, each team will have 4-5 Attackmen, 6-8 Middies, 4-5 Defenders, and a Goalie.

The Bandits Coaching Staff will make an objective assessment of each player. Offers to join a team will be made to players within 1 week after the tryout.

All decisions in regards to invitations to play are final per the coach’s decisions and are not open for discussion.

We anticipate fielding teams of 16-18 players for each team. Once an offer is made, players will need to put down a deposit to secure their

spot. If a player is offered and accepts a spot on a Bandits Team, playing time with the

Bandits is based on APTITUDE, ATTITUDE, and ATTENDANCE to practices! Bandits is not come and go as you please. Concessions are made for multisport athletes but a commitment to Bandits requires a commitment to attending all practices during travel season. Please understand this commitment going into tryouts.

An invitation to play with a Bandits Team is for one year. If a player/parent has a poor experience with Bandits and wishes to leave the team, this is fine. Additionally, Bandits coaching staff reserves the right to dismiss a player if it is felt that they or their parents are not conducive to the overall good of the team.

The application for tryouts is on the website. You can download it and email it back to: [email protected]. This must be received by August 1.

Please call for any questions! We look forward to seeing you at tryouts!
