There are no other constituents and Labinic is completely free of any animal product. Labinic is not licensed as a medicine in the UK; it is categorised as a food product. Storage is at room temperature (max 25°C) Prescribing Labinic: 1. Prescribe on drug chart as Labinic : 0.1 ml twice daily given PO/NG with milk. If baby is >1500g Labinic can be given as 0.2ml once daily 2. Give with milk via NGT/OGT, add 0.1 ml twice daily to the syringe barrel containing milk (breast or formula) once the minimum feed volume is 0.5 - 1 ml 3. Any deposits in the lid or stopper are harmless and can be removed with sterile gauze. 5. Labinic is a light brown oily liquid. Use a sterile 1 ml oral syringe to aspirate 0.1 ml. Please take care not to spill the excess medication around the sides of the bottle. If there is a spillage, use sterile gloves and sterile gauze to wipe it. 6. Aseptic non-touch techniques are essential. Never touch the dropper or rim/inside of cap with any surface or liquid and use sterile gloves.

7. Labinic has a neutral taste and is well tolerated.8. Labinic should be discarded 30 days after opening a bottle.9. Probiotics are live bacteria. Standard infection control measures apply. 10. Do not give Labinic if baby is nil by mouth.

When to stop Labinic:Stop at 34-37 weeks corrected gestation (clinical discretion). If being transferred to another hospital, the probiotic may be given on the day of transfer if due, but will not normally be continued in the receiving hospital unless they also have a policy of giving probiotics. If parents or other neonatal units wish to continue Labinic, they can obtain it directly from www.biofloratech.com
