Second Grade

NewsletterDear Families,

Second grade is currently focused on the following concepts:

(1) In mathematics working on one and two step word problems with units of measurement.

(2) In writing we are building our informational writing pieces by working through the Writing Process.

(3) In reading, the area of focus will remain on using phonics skills to decode and make meaning of texts being read accurately in order to improve reading comprehension. Have a discussion with your student about the importance of reading for 20 minutes every day. Help your student ask and answer questions based on the text. Ask your student to tell you all about the RACE strategy!

(4) The Social Studies content is focused on government. We had a terrific visit from our mayor! In Science we will be exploring energy.
