DAVID L. STEWARD AWARDED HUMANITIARIAN AWARDSt. Louis (May 17, 2013) – Presented by Carlos Santana during his performance at Dinner with the Stars
gala in St Louis, Variety honored Chairman Emeritus David L. Steward with the Humanitarian Award.
The Humanitarian Award is bestowed upon the individual who for more than ten years has best
embodied the spirit and support of the cause for children in the Greater St. Louis region as defined by
the mission of Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis.
Steward distinguished himself as the embodiment of philanthropic support, continued service on the
board of directors, and advocacy with commendable and measurably positive outcomes reflected in the
everyday lives of the children served. “Steward cares about people in need and gives hope for the
future,” stated Variety CEO, Jan Albus. “The children with disabilities in the St Louis region have a
greater chance to reach their full potential with the help David Steward gives.”
Steward, the founder and chairman of Missouri based, World Wide Technology Inc (WWT), the nation’s
largest Black-owned business. With 2010 revenues of more than $4.1 billion, WWT is ranked No. 1 on
the Black Enterprise 100s list of the nation’s largest Black-owned industrial/service companies.
