DAFT Workshop 12.30-14.00 17 th April 2015 The MST approach to working with young people with conduct problems Facilitator: Matt Vinecombe Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is an intensive, community based intervention to reduce anti-social behaviours by young people at risk of care or custody. MST works with parents to identify and tackle the many factors contributing to problem behaviour across all of the systems impacting on the young person. The intervention aims to equip parents with the skills and confidence to manage problems within their own natural ecology without the need for input from professional agencies. Multiple studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of MST in tackling problem behaviour and improving outcomes for young people and their families. This workshop will provide an introduction to the MST model of working including: Problem conceptualization Intervention development Assessment of barriers to progress Sustainability planning Quality assurance Matt has been Clinical Supervisor for the Derbyshire Multisystemic Therapy team since its launch in May 2013. He is a qualified Clinical Psychologist with previous experience in CAMHS and child neurodevelopmental services.
