My protection plan involves the preservation of 5 protected trees from the genus Catalpa, located on the campus of N.C. State University that may be threatened by foot or vehicle traffic. I will place 5 signs around each threatened tree. These signs will have the dual purpose of educating the public and lessening the traffic within 50 feet of the protected trees. In addition to posting signs, fences will be erected to protect trees from damage. A minimum of three fences will be erected around each of the 5 protected trees. The fences will be strategically placed to minimize traffic in the areas near the protected trees. Tree 1 is adjacent to Yarbrough Drive and railroad tracks serve as a natural buffer. Tree two will have a sign on W. Broughton Street and with fences located surrounding it on each side. Tree three will have a sigh along Yarbrough Dr. near the intersection with Stinson. Tree 4 is on Current and Founders Dr. on States N. Campus near Hillsborough St., which will create a need for multiple signs and fences. Tree 5 is on Stinson Dr. and signs and fences will be placed 100 feet from the Broughton Dr. intersection.
