Stress – emphasis placed on a word Inflection – the way a voice goes up or

down when a word is pronounced (?) Pause – break in reading for emphasis Speed – the rate at which dialogue is read Volume – the loudness or softness with

which lines are delivered Nonverbal communication – gestures,

posture, eye contact

Mise en scene:What we SEE (setting, actors) when the scene begins, before actors speak.  What they are DOING.
