SAVTE are recruiting a highly motivated and experienced ESOL practitioner to join a team of community development and ESOL specialists deliver the SAVTE volunteer programme.

We are a Community Development organisation which is passionate about empowering speakers of other languages to take the first steps to help them develop the skills and confidence to learn functional English to enable them to become independent and active citizens in their communities. We are committed to grow and diversify our volunteer base to create a mutually supportive community of learning where the emphasis is on developing self-reliance, confidence and greater engagement within the community.

We want to appoint a dynamic worker who has broad experience of working within diverse communities to work in partnership to develop community based learning opportunities, provide volunteer training and coordination and support learners to achieve their aspirations.

Applicants must have an ESOL qualification with a minimum of 2 years teaching experience in a range of community settings and can demonstrate that they have a commitment to community development values and be able to get on with people from all backgroundsIf you would like more information about this position please contact Stella Burton (Manager) for an informal conversation.

Sheffield Safe Places Various locations throughout SheffieldThe Safe Places scheme is a network of businesses and organisations that will assist anybody who goes to them for help.

The scheme provides adults, particularly people with learning disabilities, mental health issues and dementia, with assistance and a safe space to be if they are feeling scared, upset or bullied if out on their own.

The scheme provides reassurance to people and to their families and careers, that there is a means of support for them in the community. The support helps to minimise or remove the risks and a means to report crimes with or on behalf of the adult if necessary.

They can also help by providing support to deal with health emergencies.http://www.sheffieldsafeplaces.org.uk/

There are over 10 Safe Places in the City Centre and dozens more in Sheffield suburbs with more added recently.

To access the service, potential users need to register for a Keep Safe card either by online registration, calling 0114 2505106 or dropping in to Heeley City Farm to pick up an application form.

You will be responsible for maintaining the records system that governs the storage and movement of Property between the various Property stores. You will also be dealing with telephone enquiries from members of the public regarding their property
