Crazy CarsLapwings Spring

2019Rationale: Lapwings go to Beaulieu Motor Museum and become inspired - wanting to design their own Crazy Creative Cars. They will need to learn more about vehicles and how they move. They will need to develop a variety of designs. They will use IT to design more crazy designs. They will sketch ideas and once chosen final design, use a range of tools, equipment and construction techniques to build vehicle prototypes.

In ICT the children will: Talk about the different ways in which information can

be shown. Use technology to collect information, including photos

and videos. Use 2Design on purple mash to design cars. Use websites to find information Save information and retrieve it again

In Design and Technology the children will: Design a Crazy Car. Generate, develop, model and communicate their ideas through

talking, drawing and ICT. Select from and use a range of tools and equipment to perform

practical tasks eg cutting, shaping and joining. Select and use a range of materials for construction according to

the characteristics of their design. Evaluate their ideas and products against a success criteria. Explore and evaluate different methods for making wheels and

axles.

In English the children will: Convey basic information and ideas through appropriate word

choices. Write a narrative with a beginning, middle and end. Write a simple opening and closing phrase. Use time related words to order events. Write a recount in the correct order. Use interesting vocabulary including adjectives. Use question marks and exclamations to enhance their writing.

Outcome:On Thursday 4th April at 2:30pm come in and road test your child’s Crazy Car!
