Supply of Equipment to Siddha Faculty at TrincomaleeScope of the Project:

Based on the request received from Eastern University, Sri Lanka the Project was undertaken for setting up a faculty of Siddha Medicine in the Campus of the Eastern University located in Trincomalee to help students pursue a career in Siddha Medicine with exposure to the latest state of the art laboratories in this institute.

Project Cost: SLR 105 million (INR 4.4 Crore)

Modality of Implementation:

The Project was undertaken under Small Development Project (SDP) by the Government of India. Under the grant assistance, Government of India has supplied laboratory equipment, computers, reference books, anatomical models and charts, a bus and a jeep for the use in the Siddha Faculty. The faculty has been equipped to carry out research and study in the field of Siddha. The High Commissioner of India H.E. Mr. Ashok K. Kantha in a ceremony held on 24.09.2011 at the Trincomalee Campus of Eastern University handed over the Indian grant assistance to the Siddha Faculty. Impact: The Indian grant assistance to enhance the facilities at Faculty of Siddha Medicine at the Trincomalee campus of the Eastern University of Sri Lanka has helped to educate students in indigenous medicine. The Faculty has given an opening for students to pursue a career in Siddha Medicine with exposure to latest state of the art laboratories in this institute.
