Marketing Projects and Presentations Application – Semester 1
Congratulations! You are about to embark on a special project to be completed in the school store class for Airport DECA. This project may seem a little crazy at first, but everyone who has completed it in the past has definitely listed it as one of their favorite memories for high school! Basically, you will put together everything you learned in marketing 1, add statistics to compliment your math skills, and focus in on leadership skills to showcase a project to benefit the school and surrounding community.
Prerequisite: Completion of Marketing 1 with a C or better
Course Description: DECA members will explore project possibilities and identify a theme for their state competition entry/final exam for second semester.
Members will:
Survey and explore business backgrounds of a chosen charity, service, or organization. Demographic, geographic, and economic aspects will be explored Customer buying behaviors Identification of market segmentation. Marketing functions, trade research, risk management and a total promotional program
will be developed with identification of learning and earning outcomes for the project. Final exams will include the submission of a 30-page project including a presentation at
the Michigan State Career Development Conference at the end of the trimester/marketing 1 class.
Have up to 3 persons in your group. You will state your preferences for team composition but the final decision is made by the teacher.

Community Service Project – “We Dig Connie” Block Out Cancer Volleyball Fundraiser

CSPThe Community Service Project provides an opportunity for chapter members to develop a better understanding of the role civic activities have in society, to make a contribution to a community service or charity, and to learn and apply the principles of the numerous components of marketing management. Chapter members demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating a community service project.
Creative Marketing Project – “Welcome New/Transfer Students to Airport High School” Create a welcome video, building lay out, plan socials and create a spirit t-shirt and

Entrepreneurship Promotion ProjectPrepare a display for the hallway and lunchroom
surrounding entrepreneurship. Play a game with the middle or elementary students.

Financial Literacy Promotion ProjectCreate a financial literacy based games for the cafeteria,
set up something for a local business.Three Members Needed:
FLPPThe Financial Literacy Promotion Project is a chapter project that develops the economic and marketing knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in a global economy. After learning the economic principles associated with financial literacy, chapter members will utilize their marketing knowledge and skills to communicate the benefits of financial literacy to others.
Learn and Earn Project – “Website and Wardrobe on Display” - A fashion show during lunch, at a board
meeting, and at Sterling Elementary plus an updated website for outside the community!

LEPThe Learn and Earn Project applies entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to a single sales/service activity to be run as a real business venture. In a sense, the project is a chapter entrepreneurship project.
Public Relations Project – “Taking it over the top at the Monroe County Fair” – Updating flyers, Interactive Video

EIBThe Independent Business Plan Event involves the development of a comprehensive proposal to start a new business. Any type of business may be used.
Business Growth Plan
EBGThe Business Growth Plan involves the idea generation and strategy development needed to grow an existing business. Participants in the Business Growth Plan will analyze their current business operations and identify opportunities to grow and expand the business. Options may include franchising, expanding into new markets, opening a second location, licensing agreements, merging with or acquiring another business,

diversifying product lines, forming strategic alliances with other businesses, expanding to the Internet, etc.
International Business Plan
IBPThe International Business Plan Event involves the development of a proposal to start a new business venture in an international setting. Any type of business may be used.
Start-up Business Plan
ESBThe purpose of the Start-Up Business Plan Event is to provide an opportunity for the participant to develop and present a proposal to form a business. The event provides an opportunity for a participant to develop and demonstrate mastery of essential knowledge and skills as they apply to the analysis of a business opportunity.

and safety standards)
