Job Purpose The Team Leader is responsible for supporting the Counselling Service which is made up of a multi-disciplinary team comprising of:

General Counselling

Reconnect

School Focused Youth Service

Neuropsychologists

Family Support Worker

The Service follows a policy of encouraging the principles of self-help, empowerment and advocacy in all its service provision, and works closely with relevant health and welfare services within the services and across the regions.

Position Specification Duties and Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day management, leadership and troubleshooting in the delivery of program services that are high quality, efficient and effective.

Coordinate staff leave, rosters, resources and program coverage

Identify and manage risks, particularly clinical risks, as part of the service’s risk management framework

Support continuous quality improvement activities

Monitor waiting list management to ensure effective and efficient service delivery

Monitor staff performance against targets and outcomes and raise concerns with the Manager Mental Health, Counselling and Youth

Implement strategies to ensure individual staff targets are achieved

Identify, build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, referrers and clients as required

Attend Family Violence funded meetings and training

Represent the service through other relevant networks and working groups as required

Assist with staff recruitment and management to ensure the achievement of the organisation’s strategic directions and program objectives

Provide support to staff and clinical supervision within scope of practice and set clear performance expectations

Assist the Manager Mental Health, Counselling and Youth to identify and manage training and professional development needs to build program capacity to respond to consumer needs.

Support student placements

Coordinate staff orientation

Effectively manage change to ensure all staff members embrace and support the future direction of the organisation.

Present an energised profile with decisive decision making related to day-to-day management of program and provide clear communication to build a strong, positive focus with your staff.
