On March 21, 2019, Corinthians gathered anew, for the chapter’s 9th GMM: Corinthian KKK, the 5th for this fiscal year with the topic: “Benchmarking & Marketing for Architects”, with Ar. Karlo Agasa as Resource Speaker.

The topic was indeed very timely, since architects always find difficulty marketing the profession and professional services amid tight competition in the industry, not to mention the so called overlaps in the practice of the professions. The gap between small, medium and big practice becomes wider and wider, as more challenges and competitors come in when ASEAN and later the world, opened cross border practice. Connections or network has always been the key to having more projects more often than not. And in this age of technology in terms of communication and social media, networking becomes easier and easier. In line with the aforementioned issues and concerns, the Resource Speaker shared wisdom, learning and experiences in terms of how architects can market the profession and maximize opportunities. It was such an enlightening lecture for Corinthians.

Meanwhile, as we approached DECISION day, in terms of who we would want to lead us, our organization next fiscal year, UAP-MCC invited candidates to hear their platform of governance, advocacies, vision, solutions and approaches to the so many problems affecting our profession, the professional and the professional organization we all belong. Likewise, it was an enlightening night in regard issues and concerns vis a vis solutions.

UAP District B2 Assembly and Team Building. Unity, Cooperation and Collaboration have been the core of platform of leadership and governance of the District’s Leadership under District Director Edgar S. Calma. Past events such as Leadership Training and Fellowship Nights strengthened camaraderie among B2 architects however those events became sort of a teaser to this one big event attended by more than a hundred B2 architects and friends.

Held at Bakasyunan Resort in Tanay Rizal, B2 architects gathered once again to demonstrate support to the highly anticipated event of the district, the District B2 Assembly and Team Building.

The Opening Ceremonies took place at the function hall where teams composed of delegates from different chapters filled up the hall. A welcome challenge that becomes sort of a “warm up” faced the delegates as they showcased creativity in the “team’s banner-making” activity. As early as such, teams already demonstrated teamwork and camaraderie in preparation for the team building activity after lunch.

The afternoon session was filled with physically and mentally challenging activities as teams revealed teamwork, strategies and approaches in response to the challenges of the games. The activity was not about competition, though all participants showed competitiveness, it was all about participation, cooperation, teamwork and fellowship. There may be winners and “non-winners”, yet at the end of the day, B2 architects are all winners for being able to accomplish successfully the primary objective of the event; strengthen camaraderie and build connections that could result to more collaborative work amongst fellow B2 architects.

The fellowship night was a bang! Presentation of teams’ cheers brought a lot of fun. The band was great. Congratulations and thank you to District Director Ar. Edgar S. Calma and Council for a very successful and memorable assembly.
