Campus Connections is an interactive program at UNC that pairs students with youth (ages 11-18) referred from the local community in a one-on-one mentoring relationship. This is a for-credit course, open to all majors, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. As part of the course, students will receive orientation and training on becoming a mentor and working with youth. Students will spend one evening per week with their mentee and provide support through promoting pro-social behaviors, academic success, wellness programing, and having fun! For more information, visit the Campus Connections Website.

Interested students must fill out a Mentor Application and attend a Mandatory Information Session (see flyer or website for dates). Applications will be considered in the order they are received until the course is filled. For more information or any questions, please contact: [email protected].

If elected Student Body President, together I believe there are actions we can take to continue making UNC advantageous and prosperous for everyone! I would greatly appreciate if you could forward this message to the members of your society, and vote Kevion Ellis on elections days: April 4th-6th

My platform, Lets BRIDGE the GAP is about inclusivity, togetherness, and unified action. As a Student Senate Councilor for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences this academic year, I have listened to many students voice their concerns and opinions about UNC. After thinking about and studying these concerns, I have formed my goals to BRIDGE the GAP between the student body, administrators, and Student Senate. Having a year under my belt on Student Senate provides me with the background needed to address the issues of our past and look forward to a great future.

Lets Bridge the Gap with Administration!

This 2016-17 school year, I have heard many students voice their concerns and opinions about wanting university administrators to become more present in student activities and events around campus. Most recently during our Presidential election, some students felt discouraged, unsafe and uncared for by our administration. My plan is to CHALLENGE our administrative body to join us (students) in events and activities all around campus. We encourage the VISIBILITY of our campus staff, even if their support is non-partisan, it is still comforting to have an administration that stands beside its students. We want to see them as a part of us, even if visibility means just hanging out in the University Center lobby for a few minutes a day, we are a UNC family and we need to know they are there.

Lets Bridge the Gap with Student Senate!

In my opinion, Student Senate has not fully met the bar of REACHING and ENGAGING with students in years past. Lets engage in deeper communication, so we as representatives of the student body can hear more opinions, concerns, and ideas from YOU who we represent.

One of the bills I plan to draft would have our Senate Councilors become more visible in different clubs and organizations around campus, especially those within our cultural centers. How can we ask Administration to appear when we are not there supporting each other? We will sit in on club meetings and take notes, hear concerns, ideas, etc. and bring them back to Senate to discuss and act on collectively. Communication is KEY! Any chartered club or organization on campus would be able to request representation from Student Senate as well. We need to be there for everyone!

I also want to change the very low student attendance at our meetings and town halls this next year. I know Student Senate meetings can be intimidating, and at times hard to understand because of the way we do procedure. That's why I want to take steps towards making Senate meetings and events a warm, comfortable, fully involved, and inclusive experience for everyone who attends!

Lets Challenge the System.

All our lives we have followed traditional systems, some that we've challenged and some that we have never questioned because it's all weve ever known. We have to change this mentality. We come to college to explore lif
