Editorial
Al Capone, the most famous twentieth-century American gangster and mobster in Chicago between 1925 and1932, stated that the prohibition was not slowing down the consumption of alcohol; it was only giving up the
market to organized crime. The prohibition of sharing on internet that we are experiencing is as much effective
and produces the same effects. Digital gangsters, who had until now worked in the open now hide their dens
in dark alleys and clients, stigmatized but determined, will now have to venture there.

Average is over The New York Times, Thomas L. Friedman,
January 24, 2012
Why do we have high unemployment and sagging in-
comes ?
One of the most probable explications is the great fall
in demand because of the recession. But globalization
and NTIC revolution are always playing a role, repla-
cing labor with machines or foreign workers.
This article points out the importance, for the new cen-
tury, of an increased access to post-high school edu-
cation.
The myth of Japan’s failureThe New York Times, Eamonn Fingleton,
January 6, 2012
Whereas a lot of optimism is emerging from stock mar-
kets concerning the US economy, some factors are
contradicting like unemployment or the housing mar-
ket.
Its situation is sometimes compared with the one the
Japan faced in the beginning of the 90s.
This article from the New York Times presents a hope-
ful situation of Japan, which has done a lot better thanthe United States by many measures.
Extroverts, introverts, aspies and codiesRibbonFarm, Venkat, April 7, 2011
Introversion and extroversion represent a main spec-
trum of personality dispositions. Extroverts are energi-
zed by social interactions while introverts are energi-
zed by solitude.
This post details the great shifts that are going on in
social psychology, as we may see a re-organization of
social geography comparable to the great racial and
socio-economic sortings.
An introvert’s guide to networking Harvard Business Review, Lisa Petrilli,
January 25, 2012
Networking plays a critical role in social relationships,
while the word “friend” always has to be reconsidered
in regard to to social networks. Sometimes, introver-
sion is difcult to manage with network…
But introversion is simply a preference for the inner
world of ideas because this is where we get our en-
ergy. This post from the CEO of C-Level Strategies,
presents a precise guide to networking.

IQ drops when you’re in a groupPsych Central, Rick Nauert PHD, Lisa Petrilli,
January 24, 2012
In a recent study from the Virginia Tech Carilion Re-
search Institute, scientists found that IQ is signicantly
linked to social context. This article from PsychCen-
tral claries the interaction between the social and the
cognitive process in the brain.

Internet and social networks
The rise of the new groupthink The New York Times, Susan Cain, January 13, 2012
With a globalized world, solitude has more or less be-
come out of fashion. The new concept tends to asso-
ciate an increased productivity with people working ingroups. But research suggests that people are more
creative when they enjoy privacy and freedom from
interruption.
This article enlightens the comfort of introverts working
alone, and why solitude is a catalyst to innovation.
Loi SOPA/PIPA suspendue : l’Union européenne
MegaUpload nished: Feds shut down le-sha-
ring giant without SOPART, January 20, 2012
Megaupload.com, a website that was at one time
among the top 20 most popular sites in the world, has
shut down few weeks ago.
The New Zealand authorities arrested its founder, Kim
Schmitz, for violating privacy laws. This article deals
with the arresting operations and the protestations thathave followed, especially with the Anonymous group.
The EU signs up to ACTAWired, Olivia Solon, January 26 2012
This short post presents the last Anti-Counterfeiting
Trade Agreement (ACTA), signed by the EU members,
although it has been criticized a lot, opponents are ar-
guing that it blurs the distinction between piracy andcounterfeiting.

table contre-pouvoir ?

1.3 billion workers to go mobile by 2015 Scientic American, David Mielach, January 5, 2012
The biggest growth, driven by the popularity of smart-
phones and apps, is expected to occur in Asia, with
more than 37% of the world’s overall work force to go
mobile by 2015.
This post gives the main reasons of this trend: an in-
creased popularity of those products, and the search
of productivity.
James Lovelock: humans are too stupid to pre-
vent climate changeThe Guardian, James Lovelock, March 29, 2010
«I don’t think we’re yet evolved to the point where we’re
clever enough to handle a complex situation as climate
change», said the British scientist Lovelock in his rst
in-depth interview. Humans are too stupid to prevent
climate change from radically impacting on our lives
over the coming decades.
This article highlights the ideas of James Lovelock,
mainly his criticism against inertia and democracy for
lack of action.

The “pain” of sustainability Citizen Polity , James Epstein-Reeves,
January 18, 2012
Sustainability is a quite old concept, that has emerged
in the 90s. Nowadays, almost everybody considers itas a major goal to be achieved in order to improve the
overall environment.
This article underlines the problems that hinder the
nal inclusion of sustainability into business plans and
the “corporate DNA”.
No more Résumés, say some rmsThe Wall Street Journal, Rachel Emma Silverman,
January 24, 2012
Instead of asking for resumes, Union Square Ventures
asks applicants to send links representing their «Web
presence», such as their Twitter account, with also avideo demonstrating their interest in the position. Ac-
cording to one of the rm’s associate, a resume does
not provide much depth about candidates.
This article details why companies are increasingly
according less importance on resumes, which are not
an efcient way to determine whether a potential em-
ployee will be a good social t for the company.
Viadeo... rest in peace ? Reputation Axiopole, Olivier Zara, 4 janvier 2012
How Codecademy got so hot, so fast Giga OM, Colleen Taylor,January 23, 2012
The startup Codecademy teaches users how to pro-
gram with an interactive and social web application.
This article explains that for the rm, the most impor -
tant factor in getting work well done is more skills than
educational credentials.
What you (really) need to know The Wall Street Journal, Lawrence H. Summers,
January 20, 2012
The world is changing quickly: think about social
networking, gay marriage or the rise of China. Yet un-
dergraduate education changes remarkably little over
time.
But suppose it is drastically altered to reect the struc-
ture of society. How will universities adjust?
This article gives some clues about a new educationalsystem: the growing importance of process and colla-
boration, the role of technologies…
